Rated 4 out of 5 by Needs a bit more updating The hotel seems to be showing its age a bit. The elevators are pretty slow. The door locks are balky. The public areas have been upgraded recently and are very nice, and more work is probably planned, but this hotel has a lot of competition in the area and might be falling behind a bit. The front desk is understaffed (but extremely nice and professional people!). It was surprising to arrive after 4:00 pm and have to wait for a room because they hadn't been cleaned yet. The location is convenient, especially to events at the convention center. March 13, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Last Minute Booking...Beyond Expectations My wife and I was moving to the area and we were unable to get into our apartment due to a delay in our flight. Therefore we needed a place to stay overnight. I looked online and found the Westin and thought it would be a good place to stay because of the location. We went there and everything was GREAT! The staff at the front desk was so helpful. Booking the room without reservations was easy and didn't take longer than if we did have reservations. The room they gave us was really nice. We had a view of the harbor that was pretty. Also, the room price was very affordable. I would have expected to pay much more for the type of room we got. Overall, I was extremely satisfied with the hotel. Would definitely recommend this place! September 6, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Geat place to stay I was in Tampa for a conference. An easy, few minutes walk over the small bridge got me to the convention center, restaurants and the trolley car. I had a great room on the top floor overlooking the harbor. The room was good sized and very clean and comfortable, especially the bed! The buffet breakfast was pricey but very good. Not much of a dinner menu (and you ate in the bar) but there were lots of other restaurants for dinner, such as Ybor city, which was easy to get to on the trolley. April 18, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Staff needs to be more friendly The night auditor-Mike was the only great part of my stay in the hotel. He was very warm, and welcoming. I know how hard and tiring it is to work overnight, but Mike was very energetic and wonderful even 2 AM when I arrived on 12/23/13. The hotel is totally missing Christmas atmosphere! there was hardly any x-mas decoration in the hotel. Carpet seems very old and worn out, especially on the 1st floor. Valet staff needs major training on how to work in the hospitality business, especially in a 4 diamond hotel! as I arrived at 2 am on the 23rd, I had to pull a bell cart myself and unload my luggage while he was standing and watching me. then he said "do you need help to bring them upstairs to your room, or you can take it yourself" I had a baby that I had to carry so I asked him to assist me. During departure, same hostile attitude from the valet staff. when I came downstairs with my bell cart full of luggage, 2 valet guys were standing at the stand and chatting. Never said hi or hello to me let alone assisting me to load my luggage in my car! very disappointing from Westin staff The worse part of my stay was the housekeeping lady knocking on my door on both 12/23 and 12/24 at 8 am and 8.30 AM to ask me if I was leaving!! why did they have to wake me up at 8 AM to ask me that? don't you have a departure list? even if I was leaving, they are not supposed to wake me up at 8 AM January 1, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great staff, nice location Staff was great. Accommodated our special requests including one for finding a babysitter. Provided great suggestions for kids’ activities. Buccaneers toy helmet from the restaurant chef was a special touch and great souvenir for the kids. Balanced location. Short walk from the business district and a great place to hang out in the evening with some nice restaurants, great views and walk/ jog/ bike paths along the bay. Perfect for both business or leisure travel. April 28, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good business hotel This was a very nice, comfortable hotel. My room had new carpet and updated bathroom. And the Westin bed was great, as always! The room was very clean and the staff were great - especially the restaurant/room service staff! The hotel lacked a sundries shop or coffee shop (however, there was a coffee maker in the room with free coffee). I stayed there for a conference and the hotel was perfect for the conference meetings, but there wasn't much else to do, in the hotel or nearby, for a persontraveling alone. Rated 3 out of 5 by needs updating We stayed 2 different times over our week in Florida. The rooms really need updating. In one room we had a cool place to plug in our phones and computers to charge (it was hidden in the desk which was odd) and in second room that equipment was not there at all. No outlets in room except in bathroom. And they hide the ice bucket from you. To put something in the safe you have to be limber and small as it is very low to the ground. They were very helpful with transportation to the cruise ship and the airport. March 17, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Hotel comments I stayed in Room 713. The security lock on my door didn't work, so I blocked the door with a chair. The exhaust fan in the bathroom didn't work and the bottom of the bathroom door was broken off a bit. The marble countertop was cracked all along the back right side. Bulb burned out above the sink. The restaurant was not open for business the night before I checked out, so I had to eat dinner in the bar. (Food was excellent!) Everything else was fine. Front desk, valet, wait staff, etc. were VERY professional and made me feel at home. March 29, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Average Hotel The staff was really nice, but the hotel is just average. A major upgrade is needed and fitness center is horrible. It was steam bath in that closet with machines stacked on top of each other. The area where the hotel is located awesome, but the hotel interior and exterior needs improving. I would only recommend this hotel if you want SPG points other than that, I would not recommend this hotel because lacks the comfort of the Westin experience and I have stayed in many Westin Hotels in the US and this hotel does not meet those standards at all. Furthermore, I am hoping that changes are made to the hotel soon because I travel to area at least 3 to 4 times a year and I would like to continue to stay in this area or I would have to look at other options. Rated 4 out of 5 by Justin at the front desk I commend Justin for his exemplary service throughout my stay. I requested a room change, he accommodated. After my weekend stay, I was sad to leave but you were booked. Justin put me on a magic wait list and somehow got me a room. He then called me to let me know there was availability (I did not leave my phone number - he took the extra step to look me up). Finally, at 6am, before the coffee was out, he went into the kitchen to bring another guest and me a cup of coffee. Justin went above and beyond to do his job - every day! October 10, 2012

Rated 2 out of 5 by This hotel needs to clean up its act... I mean rooms we had a studio suite and the only piece of furniture we sat on was the bed. All of the other furniture was dirty and in desparate need of a cleaning! The carpet in the room needed to be cleaned, changed actually as did the public area carpets and hallways. The pool deck needed to be sweeped and cleaned, not sure when it was cleaned last. The fitness center was the best part of this hotel but the equipment will need to be cleaned more often. Rated 2 out of 5 by Anniversarry Nightmare! Upon arriving to this hotel, my husband and I stood in line for about 10 minutes. Not because they were extremely busy but bc the clerk chose to answer calls for residents already staying in the hotel instead of checking us in or at least beginning the process. Could not get in room bc door was jammed went back to desk only to be told that we had to push to get in. After using football skills to get in soap was left in the tub by housekeeping so I almost killed myself trying to shower only to walk in a room on the 12th floor with visible standing water due to the rain coming in from the sliding glass door. My anniversarry was horrible as a result of my stay. Mind you we have visited the Westin on the Courtney Campbell Causeway and the experience was great. Never again! June 27, 2012

Unfortunately, the carpets are tired and dirty, the beds lumpy and the showers are using heads that are not current in the last two Westin upgrades of shower heads. May 17, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Hotel Staff was exceptional, room was nice and stay was most enjoyable!! I booked this room as a surprise Birthday present with some tickets to a concert at the Forum nearby. It was very close to everything we needed, within walking distance at that. The staff was awesome, nice and very helpful. The only issue we had were the elevators, waiting for them, but they had signs up they are redoing them so we took that into consideration. It was a great stay even though the concert was cancelled at the last minute, we enjoyed our getaway from home and they made us feel like we were home.... February 11, 2013

The bathroom wasn't as clean as I would have expected, the floors in particular needed a good scrubbing as did all the carpets in the hallways and walkways. We ate brunch at Jackson's Restaurant which adjoins the hotel and it was great. May 12, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Family Vacation Stayed for a wk family vacation. The location to Busch Gardens is great - 20 mins. Some noteworthy staff; Rosa who works in The Bar; she is very warm & inviting, always has a smile & great customer service. Also the manager in the restaurant; Murat - he was great and went out of his way for some special requests we had for our son during dinner. The men at valet were very helpful with directions & recommendations Alll of these people really exceeded our expectations and are a credit to Westin. On the other end of the scale; we did ask for a fridge when we checked in, i was told one would be sent to the room shortly by the pbx agent(forgot her name) when i enquired later in the evening the same agent insisted she told me that non were available. She was quite rude actually. July 13, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by The Staff is Phenomenal I absolutely love staying at the Westin Harbour Island! The staff here is just phenomenal! They are friendly, courteous, attentive and most importantly they recognize you as if you were family! The facilities are a bit antique, however, I stayed at a newer hotel in the same city and did not feel the love that I did at Harbour Island. Therefore, I came right back! Also, want to give a special shout out to Tito, Tia and Coy who work over night, how have each gone over and beyond to make my stay comfortable! September 24, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Room was not ready When we arrived to check in after the volleyball tournament, our room was not ready. I understand that check-in is at 3, but when you have a contract with the host of the tournament next door, you need to plan ahead and make sure the rooms are ready as soon as possible. We were told that we had to stay at your hotel by the tournament hosts, which is fine with me because it is a nice hotel, but when you have everyone staying there you need to plan better for it. Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic staff, very accomodating, great location and views We stayed at the Westin in July 2013 and were immediately pleased with the location and wide, beautiful views of the harbour. We had two rooms and had an a/c problem with one room. The staff was super-efficient in addressing the problem. They exceeded our expectations by providing complimentary breakfast, a room change and a very nice upgrade to make up for the inconvenience. Several staff members helped us and I would like to pay special thanks to Benny, Harrison and Arianna for their prompt response, follow-up, and friendliness. Also, we were very pleased with the restaurant staff and breakfast buffet. Also worth mentioning is the great location of the hotel with its close proximity to downtown Tampa and short drive to Busch Gardens. We will definitely recommend this hotel to others. July 31, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great staff, fantastic service, great location This was my 2nd long term stay at this hotel. This year I have spent over 25 nights at the Westin Harbor Island. Property is a bit older but renovated. The best part of this hotel is customer service. The staff are phenomenal and constantly go out of their way to please their customers. I am very grateful to Murat (Manager of Customer Service, Food & Beverage), Winnelle (Customer Service Manager), Rafael, Lauren, Vy and Steve for a memorable experience. I look forward to my next extended visit. August 31, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Romantic Getaway I desperately needed to get away to rest body, mind and spirit. This place fit the bill. The location is superb, right on the bay with restaurants and attractions nearby. The rooms are very comfortable and the staff is very friendly and supportive. There was a large contingent of high schoolers staying there, but they told me not to worry, they would put me on the Starwood Preferred Guest floor. It pays to be a member! I will return shortly. Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice place for a white wedding We stayed here when our friends got married at the Florida Aquarium. King room on 11th floor for preferred guests, with great view of Hillsborough River. Very comfortable bed, nice furnishings, great bathroom. Used the iron to press my husband's shirt before the wedding. Had pizza at Jackson's in the afternoon and Starbucks coffee in the room in the morning. Room was nice and cool all the time even for a sticky Florida summer weekend. Would recommend to anyone wanting to visit downtown Tampa. July 1, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent experience I have never been so impressed by a hotel reservation employee like I was when Coy welcomed us. I felt like a movie star or royalty the way he treated us. It really set the mood for what was a very memorable vacation for my wife and I. Coy was very friendly, respectful, knowledgeable on the city, and beyond accommodating. I also want to mention that Richie (Ricardo) from the Bell Staff also went out of his way to make sure my wife and I had a great time. Thank you Westin for a great vacation! October 24, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Conferece Facilities are Excellent We had a small (15 guest) conference with only a couple of weeks lead time. The Banquet Services team was incredibly accommodating for managing our assets on the dock, setting up the room, discarding of all our asset packaging and checking in on us every few hours. I would like to point out Ernie Martinez, specifically. He went above and beyond for our group. A perfect compliment of professional and personalable! The room was perfect, food was very good and the location was beautiful! December 9, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by They overlooked the simple things I was upgraded to the luxury suite when I arrived - The room was clean and comfortable but there were some minor issues that surprised me. 1) There was no clock in the room. 2) There was no trash can in the bathroom or bedroom. 3) I had two TV's but neither of them were in the bedroom?!? 4) I called for a wakeup call around midnight (no alarm clock) and no one ever answered the phone. I had to rely on my cell phone which was nearly out of battery. Fixing these things would go a long way. June 25, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 Average at best The room and facility were okay, but nothing special. Housekeeping staff seemed to take long and loud breaks in the hallway outside my room and in unoccupied rooms. Beverage prices were high, even for a hotel bar. ($7 for a Yuengling bottle at the bar, room service price was only $6). Sheets are not as nice as other Westins I have stayed in and they said they were upgrading me to a studio sweet which was nice, but then they gave me a room facing away from the water front...would've rather had the view instead of the suite. Staff is professional and friendly. They know what they are doing. One thing I would recommend is to have staff explain the room when offering an upgrade. For example, don't just say you're upgrading me. Tell me that you're upgrading me, but I'll lose my waterfront view and instead face a bunch of other buildings. I'm sure they would've moved me back, but I didn't bother ask because it was a one night stay. WhileI was checking out they offered to valet my car to the front for me; time-saving and great. Sleep was good. Couldn't hear anyone, it was super quite and I got a restful sleep. Facilities were okay. Beginning to show quite a bit of wear. SPG recognition was good, free internet and again upgraded room. Food and Beverage were N/A for my stay here. May 3, 2014
