Rated 1 out of 5 by Jen123 Worst stay in a SPG property
After a long of work, I had luckily check the bed sheet before jumping into the bed post mid night. The worst nightmare!!! Bed sheet had many dark spots between 1-3 inches in diameter. After calling the front desk to complain, a house keeping person came up to change the bedding. 30 minutes later, she found out that she was short in a cover sheet. more than 20 minutes later, WITHOUT knocking the door or announcing herself, she swiped a card and came back to my room. This was past 1AM!!!!
I almost cannot believe myself to come back to this hotel the following week, and find the 2nd worst stay ever. After coming to this hotel for 6 months, I finally gave up.

Great place to spend time away from life. Nice to jump a cab or ride subway right out the front door. Easy arrivals from trains.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Marcio54 Could have been better
- Cleanliness of room
- Comfort of bed
- Helpful concierge service
- Have not received a room upgrade I expected as a gold member
- Asked for a quiet room, away from elevators, and was given a room right across the elevators hall !?
- Quality of sleep was hampered by noise from hall
- Shower lacked water pressure/volume

Rated 3 out of 5 by spgspgspg Your elevators were terrible
Several of your elevators stopped at every floor or every few floors even though there was no one waiting to get in.
Since I was on the 39th floor, the elevator rides were ridiculously long.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Ludbear Excellent Hotel - Central Location
Excellent hotel and attentive staff. The comfort of the bed and linens are second to none - just amazing. The only issue was that the room could have been cooler despite the a/c being set for the lowest temperature.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Jack13214 Hellish bed
Heavenly bed? Not at this Westin where after two terrible nights sleep on rock hard pillows and scratchy sheets, we learned that if you ask for "the soft pillows" they bring you what all the other Westins supply. Room service delivered wrong meal but took full auto-tip. Front desk promised to email invoice without saying computers have been down for 2 weeks, which I learned only after calling to inquire why the invoice was never sent. Resaurant was a bright spot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Brooke Great location, nice stay
I lived in NYC for 12yrs, so I know The City well. We now live elsewhere and decided to go back for a little weekend getaway. The hotel has a great location: from E. 43rd & 3rd Ave., you are blissfully just off the noisy beaten path, directly across town from Broadway, a few blocks south of Radio City Music Hall, 2 blocks from Grand Central Station/numerous subway lines, and have easy access to Upper East Side transportation to the popular museums. We had no problems with check-in into our nice sized room (large by NYC standards with a recently remodeled bathroom) and were given 4pm late check-out as Starwood Preferred guests. We'll definitely be staying here again!

Rated 4 out of 5 by mrudbeck Nice hotel with minor issues
Hotel & Room was really nice. However, a couple of minor issues detracted from the overall experience:
Our Duvet cover had a "leak" and feather's flew all over the place when we were going to bed. However, housekeeping was quick to offer a fix.
Our TV didn't work - which can always happen. It took 4 phone calls over a period of 45 minutes before a technician showed up. TV couldn't be fixed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by KeeperOfMaps Great location for a great hotel
I was in New York City for the first time in many years and, of course, it was during the great blizzard of 2013 some called Nemo.
Arriving a day early, the front desk staff generously matched the rate of my original reservation even though it wasn't technically available for the first day. The concierge staff provided me with a number of good ideas for things to do and places to eat. Even though the weather was less than ideal and the manager advised that some services might be affected because of the weather I didn't notice any decrease in the level of service I've come to expect from Westins over the years. Kudos to the staff for toughing it out during the storm!

Rated 3 out of 5 by EL119 Noisy
I stay at this hotel often for work. Every time I come back I forget how noisy the rooms are, especially if you are in one near the elevators. On my last stay I could hear the "ding" every time that the elevator opened and could hear the cars moving up and down the elevator shafts all night. You can also hear people in the hallways very clearly.
The front desk staff is really great. They do their best to help accommodate whenever possible. They are always friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and newly updated which is a plus. Overall not a bad property, but it does depend on the location of your room.

I am a gold memeber but I used points from BAW so i was not recognized as gold. Even when I told the front desk I was a member there was no acknoledgement .My room was on the 7th floor and the street was noisy . On top of that my room was directly acrosss from the ice machine which is very noisy when running. The sound from the ice machine awoke me and I went into the hallway to find out what the noise was and discovered it was the ice machine. When I checked out in the morning I was asked if I had a restful sleep . My reply was no ,the ice machine woke me & the street was noisy. The response was yes the ice machine can make noise . it did not seem like the agent cared !!!! The lines to check in were not organized either .
I have stayed here before and was satisfied, not this time . i was exhausted !

We stay at your hotel every year and its always great. The beds are amazing and the location is great. The only thing that would be better is if there was a breakfast offered either in a voucher or something else from the eating area.
Other then that its fantastic!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Scappelletti88 Recent Stay - Suggestion for Improvement
The staff was outstanding, the amenities and services are wonderful including the workout center, clothing rental, heavenly bed and updated bathrooms. However, the room was incredibly moldy which, resulted in a foul smell and can lead to serious health problems. So either this is isolated to something in a specific room or area or pervasive but this is a huge dissatisfied and presents a large potential future risk to this facility.

Rated 3 out of 5 by crb75 Pretty much as expected.
Friendly & Helpful Front Desk Staff - appreciated the call when my room was ready.
Renovated Rooms quite pleasantly done.
Noise from all directions. Exterior window didn't fully seal allowing in a lot of noise (and cold air). Also my room was close to the elevator - the consistent "ding" noise felt like some medieval torture ritual.
Average to poor platinum recognition.
Housekeeping and cleanliness of room poor.
All in all this is large 700+ reasonable priced business class hotel with satisfactory rooms and could be a lot better with a bit more effort and attention to detail

Rated 4 out of 5 by currency Pleasant Find for New York
As a Gold, very close to Platinum, SPG, I found this hotel as a Pleasant Find for NY City.
This hotel just reopened, fully renovated. It was a quiet hotel, could not hear any other guests. Rooms were clean, comfortable, large shower. Internet, for some reason, a bit slow at times.
Fitness Center was well equipped, plenty of room, clean, never crowded.
Dining and Bar - they were finishing off the new Dining and Bar, ( renovation)
Location was good, about 5 City Blocks to Times Square, easy walk, as well as easy walk to offices. there were a numbe rof dining, coffee shops and pubs near by. Actually a quiet area, away from the crowds of Times Square.
Issues - the staff needed more training in how to greet Gold/Platinum SPG and know the benefits, such as Upgrades, Newspapers, water in the rooms, late check out, the Point or Gift extras for Gold/Platinum. Housekeeping forgot some minor items but the Guest Express was fast to respond.
Overall staff were friendly and provided very good service.
Spoke with the MGMT - they know what is needed to be corrected, since they just reopened and know more training is needed of the staff in Starwood Ways.

Rated 1 out of 5 by 50MICK just one incident
returned to my room after a long day in the city. no glasses were left in room following daily service.. took three phone calls ,finally spoke to someone in housekeeping, when I politely asked for two wine glasses.was told she would send them to the room, however there would be a 2plus dollar charge for each. I decided to g o to the spg line at the front desk .I again told my story and was told it would be a charge.
I have given this hotel a third chance following its Hemsley turnover and this incident has made my decision not to return. nyc has multiple choices.I do not need these types of situations to occur.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Marc100 Good hotel but ...
The Westin Grand centarl is conveniently located. I come here approx every quarter to my satisfaction. This time I was unpleasantly surprised by a dog barking continiously in the room next to my room. Complaining about this resulted in alerting security and a voice mail to my room (not to the room with the dog). No satisfactory outcome, on the contrary. The last night of my stay the dog barked until 2:30 am. The hotel should consider revising its pet's policy.

My husband, daughter and I went to New York City for a quick getaway. Due to flight delays, we arrived late at night and were warmly welcomed and got into our room quickly. The room was perfect for 3, and a good size. The beds are comfortable and the amenities are excellent.
Service at this Westin was impeccable. From the front desk, maintenance, security and the concierge to the waitress in the restaurant, all were courteous and responsive.
The location of the hotel is so convenient, you can walk to so many places and a short cab ride to many more. Plus, the train station is right there. There are good restaurants very close as well as a CVS.
All in all, next time we go to NYC, we will return to Westin Grand Central.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Mike46 Not (yet) up to Westin Standard
We arrived at the hotel at 1030pm on a Friday night. Check-in was staffed with 2 people only, who were anything but friendly.
We got a room on the 6th floor, the lowest floor for guest rooms with a view into a back alley (being a platinum member).
The room itself was nice and for NYC rather spacious. The hotel has no executive lounge and u also do not get anything instead ( like free breakfast or drinks at the bar).
Internet was free ( platinum), but only up to 3 devices.
Overall from what I read from previous reports, I feel that the hotel is on the right track to improve, but still a long way to go.

Rated 4 out of 5 by wendy12 Housekeeping concerns
I still have housekeeping concerns. Once again the towels are all a different texture and I asked for another robe and never got one; asked for additional laundry bags and had to ask again. Then, the day of departure (after 6 nights) the power went out. It was fixed but took longer than I feel it should have - also, the drapes were not placed properly and I was surprised after 6 days no one fixed them.
