Rated 1 out of 5 by Carioca Great location but very tired hotel
From entering the hotel the problems, none major, began. I was recognized as a Platinum the check in was smooth. After that, the hall was shabby on my floor as was the room. The air conditioning is very cold and will not accept temperature changes, there is no bathrobe, the hotel had no newspapers this AM, the breakfast was minimal and indolently served, The price is OK, but I'll stay elsewhere next time. I did not complain because these were mostly minor issues and I did not have time. I will not return!

this is not a Westin standard, thankfully my room was not filthy this time, even though there was trash left in the can. and there was actually a robe in my room this time. even though every time i check in they tell me i have been upgraded, i believe they are only refering to the view, not the room or amenities. if the price is right stay here, if not there are nicer hotels in the area, i could not close closet door properly due to a stupid safe installed in the way. rooms are small with low ceilings.

I was remiss not to get the Front Desk people that were amazing!
Anything I asked for, was handled with efficiency and professionalism. They were top notch!
That is the main contact one has in the Hotel and they set the experince for the stay.
Your front desk people are AMAZING!! Thank you!

Rated 5 out of 5 by RPZ627 Exceptional service for SPG members
Before even arriving to the hotel, i received an email from Siobhan at the hotel. She welcomed me and asked me if I needed anything. I did have a few questions and wanted information on alternative parking, and she met all my needs immediately. She was a pleasure to work with and really made my stay enjoyable.
Also, the hotel smells really nice! They have fresh fruit and infused water whenever you need it. Breakfast was excellent and there was a great variety of items.
We really enjoyed our time!

SPG Gold Member, called and arranged for early check-in and was told "not a problem." When we arrived at noon, we were informed no rooms were available. Had to chenge clothes for graduation ceremony and, instead of offering fitness center locker room, was directed to busy, small lobby bathroom where other hotel patrons were literally stepping over us and our luggage as we changed. When we informed Hotel Manager later of this inconvenience, nothing was done to rectify situation at all.

Flew in to Reagan National, took a Super Shuttle and checked in after midnight. Beautiful Hotel. Great Amenities, comfy bed, AWESOME shower experience and soft bath towels. I was there for busiiness so I had to arrange a cab to my office and I requested one that took credit cards. The concierge booked it for me and they came on time. I also had meetings in the hotel meeting space and that was also nice. The hotel has very nice meeting space. Thank you for a very pleasant stay.

Rated 3 out of 5 by greeny12 well located, not restful
This hotel is located in the center of the action which I liked, but I didn't spend much time outside given this was a business conference. Rather, I was trying to get some real rest after a long day of conferences, but the way this hotel is designed prevents people staying on the inside of the atrium from getting any real shut-eye. The atrium echoes very loudly and carries the conversations and screaming of other people eating and drinking downstairs into your room. In addition, I was hoping to take advantage of the WestinWorkout program, but they did not have any supplies available for people staying at the hotel, even though there was a placard in my room indicating the availability of the equipment. If you want to be around the area, yes stay here, but ask for a room located on the street side because otherwise you will never get any rest. Restaurant was good, staff was pleasant.

I have stayed at this Westin about 4 times using our starwood points. It always registers under my husband name, so when I went to check in with my girls(my husband was not with me), the lady checking me in made me call my husband to verify our reservation even though I had our print -out reservation and I had my starwood card with the same family number! Due to this delay my girl were late to their concert! I think I will try the other Westin down the street next time!

We enjoyed our 5 night stay at The Westin. The staff were all very accommodating! If we were to return to D.C., we would consider staying here again. It was nice to have the free wi-fi as an amenity with being a Starwood Preferred Member. It would be nice not to pay $49 a night for parking.
Overall, no complaints. It was a pleasant experience!

The Staff is very friendly and accommodating. The rooms and clean and roomy...the beds are superb, I slept great! The location is such that it is walking distance to numerous restaurants and sites. I would recommend staying as the Westin.

Rated 3 out of 5 by LGB64 Hotel needs Updating
The hotel was located in a great spot. Can't really beat it. This is an older hotel and the rooms and hallways show it. Bedrooms need a little more updating ie take the popcorn off the ceiling. In the morning you could hear doors closing and then the room door would vibrate. Staff were all very nice and helpful however as seems to happen the Starwood staff do not seem to be trained in recognizing Gold Members at check in. I was not recognized as a Gold Member nor offered the Gold Amenity until it was pointed out to them by the "Starwood Customer Service" I had contacted. I have always felt that you need to be a Platinum Member to receive recognition because you will not get much recognition or be recognized for being Gold. I would recommend Starwood make sure their staff knows what the protocol is for checking in Gold Members

Rated 1 out of 5 by EXSPG Hair in the bathroom and sink
It was very unsettling to wake up to long black hairs in the sink and shower. Even more so to find that the staff was not horrified and apologetic rather they said, " will you be out in the next hour so we can have housekeeping clean up?" I returned four hours later and the room had not been cleaned and the unsightly hairs were still in clinging in the sink and shower. There were a few other issues, but this lack of hygiene is simply unacceptable!

Rated 3 out of 5 by MAP101 Could do & be better
Stayed on the top floor - 12th - a lot of noise from the roof late evening while it is claimed to be for Preferred members. Ordered room service, even a simple sandwich took 30 minutes to come. They even forgot to put the ustensils. Also, a lot of confusion while checking in, the computers weren't working properly.

The. doorman was non exisitent and garage staff was lacking courtsey and was slow.. Overall one of the worst facilities I ever stayed at. I do not recommend

Very disappointing experience...arrived with luggage, 2 bellmen were more intersted in reading the paper than helping with bags...at check-in, only one lady (very pleasant) until she complained that the other staff members were no where to be found--there were 8 of us in line...on multiple occassions the front staff was too preoccupied with reading emails/looking at pictures on their phones/computers...not what I expect from a SPG property.

Rated 5 out of 5 Westin Hotel Stay Review
Everything from front desk, check-in, room, facilities and staff were friendly, helpful and effective, but I would expect that from the Westin. So, in particular, I want to compliment the various front desk folks I needed to ask questions or needed assistance from. They went out of their way to be helpful and cooperative, it was very much appreciated and they should be complimented!! BTW, good location, lots of good restaurants, great stay.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BBlossom Comfort and convenience
This hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of the White House, as well as many of the major DC attractions. A short cab ride will get you to everything else. I loved the metro system! Color coded makes it easy to get around. Weather was so, so but did not dampened our spirits. I only regret is that the fitness center was under renovations. However, the walk around the city made up for the missed workout.

Rated 3 out of 5 by hoops1 Service Lacking
I do not require a lot from my hotel stay, clean comfortable rooms, nice breakfast and proper service. This is the third time a row that I have had to call the hotel and get them to email my portfolio to me, which is something they ask when you check in. In excusable for a business traveler that has to reconcile their expernse reports. also the breakfast buffet and in general has been below par the last few times I have stayed there.

Rated 3 out of 5 by gdizzle Noisy and needs updating
The hotel has a good location, but street noise is a problem. My room was situated on the 10th floor, which is a SPG floor. The wall paper is peeling off, and there are minimal room amenities. Arriving around 11:30 from the west coast, the restaurant was closed and wine and beer were unavailable from room service. All in all, not a bad hotel but I'm sure there are places in a similar price range which offer better accommodations.

Room was clean as expected. But, the heat/AC didnt work properly and we called the front desk to have someone come up, but it took forveer for someone to come to the room to address the issue. We had to wait until the maintainence guy arrived because I wanted to make sure they corrected the problem since we were headed out to an important event and wouldn't be back until late in the evening; I didn't want to have to call again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by TawnySF Not the Best Starwood Experience
I've been a long time Starwood member and was disappointed by a couple of misses during my 2 night stay. First, I reserved a King room which wasn't available when I checked in. I don't know why one wouldn't have been set aside with my reservation. Worse yet, the night manager was standing alongside the front desk clerk who checked me in. He never offered an apology for the in availability of the King room I reserved. Even after he found out that I am a Starwood member. Also, I placed my breakfast order the night before and asked for a 7:00 AM delivery. When my order wasn't delivered, I called and was told that the wrong room number was noted on my order. My order came late, tacos cold, smoothie coagulated and missing the side of avocado I ordered. The staff was nice enough and verbalized apologies but no one went above and beyond to acknowledge these misses.

Rated 4 out of 5 by LogiconGer Good Base to see Washington DC
We were on our way to our timeshare in South Carolina. Got a great rate (better than Hotels.com or Kayak) through SPG. Drove through the snow storm on Dec 26 and arrived late. However, they still had parking and someone to deliver our bags at 11:30 at night (that is good). Staff was helpful and room was at the Westin Standard.. Only drawback was the chess convention being held there and the elevators (one was out of service).

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sue222 My favorite DC hotel
As a fan of Westins, this one is the best I've stayed at. I have stayed here at least 4 different times over the years & have been delighted each time. The restaurant is excellent & I eat there instead of outside the hotel. It's within walking distance of the Metro & White House, in a very accessible area. It's clean & QUIET in the room, excellent amenities. I plan to stay here again in 2013 for my annual east coast trip.

Rated 3 out of 5 by patr1 HOT in DC
since the year i have been staying here i have seen some improvement in the housekeeping arena, however there isnt much to be said as far as upgrades for SPG gold members, i recommend this hotel for its location only, staff is friendly and meets all needs and concerns, check-in can be a long wait at time, and the.amenities can be spotty, there may be a bathrobe, sometimes not, same goes for body wash, mouth wash ect.

Rated 2 out of 5 by wab1 staff was a let down
1)check-in took 20 min. and rates were incorrect both at checkin and checkout 2) housekeeping didn't come to clean until 4:30 which created a problem 3)had 3 rooms and 1 of my guests had a flight cancelled and to get room credit was a real hassle 4)at times, there was a long wait for hotel operator and concierge to answer the phone 5)most of staff were polite but inflexible with little authority to make things better

Rated 2 out of 5 by Ed123 Needs Overall
Being a huge Starwood customer my expectations are set high from Starwood. This hotel is in a nice location. Convienant to many things. The hotel itself needs to be closed for renovation and when reopened it will be a great place to stay. Until then, it has its challenges. Staff was friendly. Attrium noice interupts any room facing it. Other minor problems too. Look forward to staying there when things are better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by spg1985 Overall: Great stay!
I stayed there back in 2010 November and the stay was great. The staff did great and I did not encounter any problems during my stay. I was there on business + sightseeing and the hotel was perfect for both purposes. I heartily recommend to others (again, this was at the end of 2010, things might have changed since then).

All staff that I encountered were very pleasant and helpful. The fridge in the room didn't work and within 15 minutes of calling, we had another one. My only complaint was long brunette hairs on the bed and floor. Neither of us have long nor brunette hair. Of course everything in the hotel was pricey, right down to the $3 16 oz bottle of off brand water in the room. It is convienently located downtown.
