Rated 3 out of 5 by Recommended with some reservations Once upon a time, I virtually lived at this hotel in Bangkok. However, the love for the relationship started to go, I began to see other properties in Bangkok, and before I knew it, the Westin wasn't even a consideration. Nostalgia and the need to be in this part of town, made me come back today. Like dating an old girlfriend again, you quickly realize why you broke up. Although she is familiar, there were so many things wrong. In the Westin's case, no Kids Club, although advertised, it only exists on Sundays during the buffet. So many fixtures in the room were broken, or in poor repair.. ie lights in living room tied to bedroom so you have all or nothing. Not great for putting a child to bed, and wanting to still be awake. Bathtub wouldn't drain, fixtures broken. "Repaired " twice while we were here, still broken. Tub stained too, and grouted is missing, chipped.. just really unattractive. The heavenly bed in the room was so old it sagged in the middle. Additonally, the pool has been redone, and has a wood deck that is incredibly slippery when your feet our wet, our child holding my hand and walking slipped twice. On the positive side, some of the staff still remember me, and the service is very good. As is the SPG Platinum recognition. Location great, soft product (staff) great, actual room was average at best. March 27, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by An Amazing Stay I was in Bangkok on a business trip for five days in March 2013. I was lucky to have booked at the Westin. Not only that the service, facilities, and comfort were at my expectation, but also the location of the hotel itself was convenient. It lies in a prestiguous street in the middle of the city, close to different transport means (trains, tube, and taxis). Nearby were some of the top shopping destinations, Thai and international. All in all, it was a pleasant experience. March 12, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Mostly good BUT I was put on a smoking floor without being told that this was the case. My booking was for a non-smoking room. While in general, the smell of cigarettes in the room wasn't too bad, the stench in the corridors was sometimes quite appalling. Other than that, I can't fault the hotel. It was agreed that these charges were incorrect what was most concerning was the Hotel rule that the customer must be wrong so charge first and ask questions later. March 10, 2013

Rated 4 out of 5 by Good hotel, but missing some key things Its a good hotel. And its generally priced right. But for a Westin, it is missing some things. Let me start with some positives: 1- As a Platinum, I've generally been upgraded here 2 out of 3 times. And the suites are huge and really nice. 2- The beds are big and comfy. 3- They check in Platinums in their executive lounge, which is a nice touch. And the staff is friendly - but only in the lounge. The cons: 1- The front desk staff (outside the lounge) is generally not friendly. Not unfriendly either, just not what you expect from Thai people (who are some of the friendliest people in the world). 2- They are the only Bangkok Starwood property that will not let you eat breakfast free as a Platinum. You must give up your 500 Starpoint amenity to eat at the large buffet. If you dont you will need to eat free in the very small lounge. 3- Speaking of the lounge, its laid out as 3 separate uncomfortable rooms. Just tables and chairs. No couches are any place to lounge about. They do have snacks and drinks, but its just not as nice as other lounges. 4- The shower head in my suite was ridiculous. It was older than me and definitely not what I expected from a Westin. Definitely time to upgrade them. At the right price, I'd stay here again. But I certainly wouldnt overpay to stay here. Rated 3 out of 5 by OK After traveling for several days, we were looking forward to sleeping in Westin's Heavenly Bed. Unfortunately, the bed was not heavenly. The sheets /duvet set were to standard, but the bed itself was harder than a rock.You could not sleep on your side without waking up with shoulder pain. Staff was very attentive and wonderful, we ate at all of their restaurants. I wish they had another bar available at the hotel during the evenings that was quieter with background music or piano music. The daily Phillipino singers were a nice treat for the first day, but by day 3, they weren't any longer. Hotel is very centrally located. February 16, 2013

Rated 4 out of 5 by Great location and service but a bit dated... Great location right on Sukhumvit, next to Asok Skyrail station and opposite Terminal 21 shopping centre / cineplex. Great service, comfortable room and good breakfast. But the hotel feels a bit dated and would have liked a more modern gym with natural light and a bigger would consider somewhere with a lighter more modern feel next time.... February 5, 2013

Rated 3 out of 5 by No recognition for SPG i had been staying in westin sukhumvit during my last few trips to bangkok. previously upon check in, the front desk is able to identify my SPG status through the system. however this time, the staff did not identify my SPG status. i had to remind her and provide her my SPG number. previously, everytime i am given SPG floor, which is the higher floors. however for my most recent stay, i was not given SPG floor, much to my dissappointment. i am very happy with the rest of the service and will continue to stay in westin for my next visit. however i hope the front desk service can be improved. Rated 4 out of 5 by Impressive location in the heart of happening and business Bangkok The Westin has a great location, on Sukhomvit and close to both rail systems. I worried when I arrived if the place was going to be noisy due to being in such a prime and lively location but I was relaxed the minute I stepped into my room and it was quiet and not noisy. Food at the restaurant is of great quality and taste too, which is a major plus. February 3, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by A dated decor in a 3 star package This hotel had a good reputation 10 years ago and since that time has done nothing to improve the accommodation facility. The decor is 1950's with dark wood and well worn furniture. Drawers were worn and wouldn't close unless the one above was lifted, the carpet was old and gaped at the seams as well as requiring re-stretching to take away the ripples. All in all, one of the most disappointing hotels which bills itself as 5 star but is only 3 star in the accommodation area, worse, we were placed in a room on the non-smoking floor that reeked of cigarette smoke, we refused to stay so were downgraded from the SPG floors to a lower level. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who expected the usual Westin standard. The restaurant "Taste" is good. February 3, 2013

Gym attendant was helpful and friendly but gym is congested, equipment is worn and several common equipment e.g. sit up bench are not available. Lift is ok but signs to indicate facilities in the lift is so small and dimly lit that I had problem finding the facility. But overall still a great hotel. January 27, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Okay, but I wish it would have been better Really good location, right next to Terminal 21 and Asok Station, with plenty of food nearby and a supermarket downstairs. Called the Service Express to ask for some facial wash, but was simply told that the hotel does not provide, without any alternative. Also, the procedure to obtain the internet passcode is rather inconvenient and a waste of paper, as we have to go to the Concierge desk to get the internet passcode on a piece of A4 paper, and this code would only be valid for 1 hour. Ate the buffet breakfast on the first morning, and very sadly, it's undergoing some construction works so the tables are set a little too closely together and I could hear the entire conversation of the guests from the neighbouring table. The food selection was pretty good, but no one was ever manning the waffle station and the noodle station. The salad bar took some time to be topped up as well. The pool was nice and deserted on the night that I went for a swim, but it was freezing cold, and the area with the Jacuzzi was a little too shallow, with nothing to hold on to, so I found myself slipping away. My companion had longer legs so he was able to sit relatively comfortably, but it might be something to look into, to provide more handholds in the pool itself. Lighting inside the pool itself could be improved. On the first day I found a dark stain on the room carpet, but decided not to mention it as there were gorgeous bedroom slippers available, but the next day after my room was made up, it was rectified, so that was good. Water was very generous and they emptied my minibar of items upon request very promptly. Found myself being more friendly to the staff than the staff were to me though, but all in all I don't think I had a very bad experience. Will consider coming back if improved. January 27, 2013
