I loved staying at the Long Beach Westin for the Long Beach Marathon. The location was perfect for the Expo, Pasta Dinner, Start and Finish Lines. All within easy walking distance. Also the staff was dressed in Marathon t-shirts and catered to us completely. The wait staff in the restaurant was very friendly and took care of us with excellent service and food. Thank you, thank you! We will come back!

Modern, Well maintained, Clean Hotel.
Beds comfy, pool area awesome, cleaning crew showed up late in day 3-4pm but did a great job! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars for all is because the ice maker was broken on level 11 and every day when I needed ice I had to either go up a level or down a level. The elevator to return to my level was slower if I went up so I started to go down. The ice machine should have been fixed/replaced the first day it was broken or least a sign put up stating it was out of service.

We have stayed at Westin for 3 years in a row during the Aquarium of the Pacific's International Childrens Festival and the Urban Ocean Festival and always felt privileged. This time the room was not clean, including finding dirty beverage bottles in the drawers and bathroom unclean and fixture rusty. The coffee machine was not working properly and only made "warm" water for the coffee and tea. My husband had to do his daily kidney dialysis in the room and I was a bit worried about the cleanliness of the room.

Excellent. Professional. Comfortable. Clean. Personable. Just the best stay I have had for some time. Definitely will stay again. Great location. Not a big fan of the restaurant. But outside of the restaurant, the quality and convenience of this location is superb for the business traveler and family alike. If you are meeting at the convention center, this is a great location, too. Right next to public transportation and the free bus line for sightseeing destinations. And bonus--Budget rental car is in house.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Lanmony Cold water in bathroom
We stayed 3 nights at the Westin while attending a competition. The room was extremely clean, quiet and quite functional. However, on the morning of our departure there was no HOT WATER in the both bathroom sink and shower for over 30 minutes. I had to shower in cold water. We called to complain about the problem and Westin asked if an engineer could come to the room. Since we were leaving shortly we decided to leave then have the engineer come to our room. The Security Mgr advised us to contact the front desk about having cold water. I don't think the front desk clerk was listening to my complaint because she asked if we wanted to change rooms. After explaining the problem she then apologized, thanks us for the information then gave us credit for the inconvenience. We will stay at the Westin Long Beach again.

When I asked for 24-hour dry cleaning services, the hotel staff could not find anything! Perhaps worse than that was the expectation that I would have to go to the dry-cleaner myself; this would have been extremely difficult to do during my conference.
The hotel porters fulfilled their duty roughly half the time. That is unacceptable.
Some of the hotel linens were dirty. Not to mention the quality of the towels.
For as much money as this place cost, I expect better service. Especially on a business trip.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Fansk One of the worst hotels I have stayed
If only the Manager had seen the condition and the equipment in the Health Club of the hotel. Its like a ghetto club and almost all the equipment should be either repaired or replaced. Its also very dingy and not worth calling it a health club.
The only restaurant in the hotel, 'The Grill' is practically empty with very few choices.

Rated 3 out of 5 by kul209 Pressure to check out
The hotel and amenities were comparable to other hotels in same class.
What really bothered me is that on the day of my checkout, housekeeping started knocking on my door at 8am to clean the room. The check out time is noon. Within 2 hours, I had 4 seperate visits from housekeeping to clean the room. Two of the housekeepers entered the room without knocking.
I felt really pressured to leave before my checkout time. I don't see why there is a check-out time if the hotel staff does not recognize it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by JaniceF The staff was very friendly
They had some challenges dividing our bill for three people since they never entered the third person upon registration.
It would be helpful to have at least two computers that are dedicated to printing boarding passes. One person took about 15-20 minutes to print her pass on one computer. The other computer was occupied by someone using the internet.
Staff failed to describe how to be Green and maid service failed to leave complimentary water bottles in the room for all 3 guests.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Chinogirl02 For Long Beach Half...almost PERFECT!
No free wifi in the room IS CRAZY! I don't travel a lot, but I've gotten that at hotels charging much, MUCH less and staying at the Westin is a TREAT! Weird stuff....the BIG wall mirror in the room (616) is in an awkward place visually from the bed to the bathroom. And towels....big towels IN THE SHOWER and washcloths across the room ON THE SINK. Weird!

I was a little aggravated that the television had problems. Only one channel worked, then a guy came up and after messing with the controls, got the other channels working. When I turned it off and turned it on later that night- it was acting up again. After turning it on and off and playing with the channels I got it to work again. The same thing happened the next morning. So that was frustrating for such a nice hotel . The staff is very friendly and helpful. room 1515

Rated 4 out of 5 by Ritarita Great location for Convention
This hotel was easy to walk to the convention center- gave you time to stretch your legs. Parking is $18 - and that is self parking but being in a city location you have no real choice. Had drinks at the bar- nice atmosphere for that. Check in and check out went smoothly. They have papers waiting for you outside your door in the morning. Beds are comfy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by cbadeddie Moldy smell
We checked into room 1426 at first. The room smelled mildewy so I turned up the AC hoping it may freshen up the room. It actually got much worse that we had to call the front desk to get a new room. The second room 1414 was better but still had that musty odor. I'm a pretty easy going person but you need to do something about this serious problem.

GREAT service from the bell desk/concierge.
Room Service was prompt and delish.
The staff at the bar basically ignored me sitting right at the bar for 10 minutes. A regular came in and handed his empty cup to a bartender and asked for a fill up. I said, "hey wait a minute Kenny, I have been sitting here for 10 minutes how about you get me my first drink before filling up your friend."
I had breakfast delivered on Sunday morning. We left some to finish after my daughter competed in the ballroom. But although more that half was left, the tray was taken out of the room before we returned. We had not yet checked out. I told the front desk staff. They said sorry but I would have liked some fruit and danish instead.
Also, security was called to a room near mine at 4:24 am after hours of loud behavior. There was lots of swearing and yelling. My daughter was scared. I got a terrible night's sleep. I think that the staff should initiate an apology to the neighboring rooms to acknowledge the inconvenience of the situation.
I feel that the Westin should take the initiative to make sure the guest has a great stay. I don't know that I would pay to come back to this Westin.

1. SPG recognition was non existent
2. It took 3 calls to finally get additional towels. (2 of the 3 calls were follow up to get the status on where the towels are)
3. It took 45 minutes and a follow up call to get 2 orders of Hot Chocolate and when we did get it, the drink was warm and almost cold
4. Breakfast service was great, the follow up call in clarifying the order was great as well as the delivery and customer service
5. Bath tub floods during shower
6. Valet service was great

Rated 5 out of 5 by Matteo925 Great hotel, perfect spot in downtown Long Beach
Great hotel, this stay was to run the Long Beach Marathon. It's right across the street from the convention center where the expo is, and only about a half mile from both the start and finish line. Great views of the harbor from the rooms. Probably about a 10 min walk down to the beach. Restaurant was solid as well, good breakfast buffet.

Our room smelled a little moldy/stuffy. The fan in the bathroom was either broken, or non existent. The maid left a dirty rag in the bath tub. The best part was the bed comfort. No continental breakfast either.

Rated 2 out of 5 by CWO911 No Heat and a chemical smell in our second room.
Went on line and got a good rate on a room at the Long Beach Weston, which looks great from the outside. Our first room had a great view of the ocean from the sixth floor but no heat and after contacting the front desk, we left for dinner. Upon our return, we were informed that the heat cound not be fixed and we were offered another room on the eleventh floor with a beautiful view of Long Beach Boulevard, complete with hookers and crack dealers. But the worst part was the smell in the room. It was as if they had just chemically cleaned the carpets, (maybe after a CSI clean-up?) which were still wet, and the room reeked of chemicals which were so strong, we could hardly sleep. The bathrooms in both rooms were very small with absolutely no powered ventilation, but at least the heater worked in this room.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MPM1948 Solid B+; not an A
Very nice hotel, with a couple of glaring omissions. In this day & age, how can an upscale hotel not have an Ipod player or a radio with similar functionality in a room - a suite, no less? Also, there is no exhaust fan in the bathroom, a particularly unpleasant deficiency during a five-day stay. The closet/entry door engineering meant a 30-minute delay in gaining access to an empty room when the closed door pushed the entry door security lock closed after exiting the room. Poor design, poor engineering. On the positive side, the room was bright, cheery & had great views, even on a lower (fifth) floor. The bed comfort was fantastic and the double-headed shower was great, as well. Solid B+, could be an A- with Ipod functionality. Door & fan situation a tougher fix, but significant to overall satisfaction....

Hotel was run down for what I'd expect from a Westin or any Starwood hotel. Gym was one elliptical and three treadmills, all full every morning I tried to use. Staff was nice. Room service was prompt but lack of options, nothing healthy or veg friendly on the menu, in CA you could be so much better here! My last night there drunk neighbors (there's a convention center near by, hotel is packed with what ever bunch is gathering there) woke me up by trying to mistakenly get in my room. I settled back into bed only to find a huge bug crawl out from under my pillow. So my stay ended on a bad note. I travel frequently for work and always thought of Starwood hotels as a reliable reservation with clean, quality hotels. I'll have to return to the area for work but sorry to say I will not be returning to this hotel.

Rated 4 out of 5 by tim20 restaurant staff needs improvement
Breakfast two days in a row was very slow service. We had to get up out of our seats numerous times to ask for service. We waited each day 5-10 minutes to be seated. Bar had same poor service. 20 min to take order for two glasses of wine, and then 20 min later to receive it. Was there for a convention which is held every year and we feel the hotel should be well prepared for this amount of guests. 1 star.
Front desk was Great however and very on top of our needs!!! 5 stars!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by BonnieBee Best staff ever
I was tired from traveling when I arrived at the Westin Long Beach and busy with my convention for the next three days. When I stopped to take a breath, I noticed how the entire friendly staff had seemed to conspire to make my stay as stress free as possible. Inobtrusively going about their jobs, they made it seem more like staying with family...but without the obligations.
I would also like to say that the food in the main restaurant off the lobby was consistant excellent.

Hallways and rooms are a bit outdated but things were clean. I was talked into joining the Westin club when I checked in and enticed by the two free bottles of water a day. Upon checkout, the early morning/night staff wanted to argue about mini bar charges that had been tacked on and we never used the mini bar, only drank the "free" water. I had to become insistent about removing the charges and I hate myself when I get like that. They know how to ruin a perfectly good stay.

Very nice, conveniently located, elegant hotel and room.
Parking lot was confusing. Once we parked, following signs to the elevators actually took us to the office building elevators. It took a little doing to find hotel elevator.
The location was perfect for an event I was attending. Desk staff was pretty non plussed about questions about local directions, tho she did refer me to concierge. Only there were several people already waitng there, and I just wanted local help.

The 1st room we were given smelled like smoke. We were then given a different room that had a weird odor- but was better than smoke. Then the 3rd night of our stay the air conditioning went off at midnight. They brought us fans- but by morning it was working again. Then our 4th night (last night) it went off at midnight again and we just used the fans. Very frustrating and disappointing-since I have staying at ALOT of Westins and had great experiences.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Veesb Modern, great service, over priced restaurant
I stay here every year and I always have a great experience. This year was a little disappointing because the room was a little musty and the bathroom sink slow draining. Also, espresso machine was broken in restaurant so I ordered tea and they charged me $4 for something I could get up in the room for free. All of the above was promptly carred for by hotel staff and mgmt. hope I get a fresher room next year!

The costly lobby/business "Center" system used by this hotel is totally unacceptable. The charges are extraordinarily excessive. I have stayed at many, many Starwood hotels...with the vast majority providing free Internet access. I will not stay at this Westin again unless I have free access to the Internet on hotel workstations. I am a Starwood Platinum Lifetime Member and I am instructing my Starwood concierge to modify my profile to include free Internet access.

I stayed at the hotel for three nights. On the night that I arrived I noticed that the room was very warm. Thinking that they had turned the AC off to save energy, I went over and turned the AC to the lowest setting and the fan to the highest setting. The room never cooled off and I slept outside my covers all night. The next morning I called the front desk and let them know of the problem and that I would be out of the room until 5:00 p.m. so they could easily come in and access the AC. When I returned to my room that evening the room was once again hot and no work had been done on the AC. A friend was also staying at the hotel at the same time and her room had the same problem. She complained every day and it was never taken care of. If I worked in my room I literally had to sit under the AC just to stay somewhat cool.

Great hotel in Long Beach. Lots of shopping an restaurants nearby. Had requested non-down pillows before my stay and it was already in the room when I checked in. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful with directions. My stay included free tickets to the Aquarium which was a nice bonus that I took advantage of. Would definitely stay here if I'm in Long Beach again. Only downside is $17/day fee for parking but I think most city hotels charge for parking anyway.
