Aside from its good location, there is nothing to recommend this Long Beach Westin. There was no local business and restaurant guide or map (just a general LA information book), no TV channel guide, a poor cable channel selection, and bad lighting. The hotel charges $14.95 per day for Wi-Fi access, which is ridiculous. Motels that cost a third as much provide free Wi-Fi. And the hotel locked us out of our room with 45 minutes left until check-out, forcing us to go down to the front desk to get our keys reactivated. I will not be staying there again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by biztravels OK hotel not great
Many amenities were missing in my room - body wash, shower cap, etc. When I called down to have them brought up, each time they said they would be right up and I had to call 3X and it took 1 1/2 hours... each time I offered to just come down and they said, no problem, we will be right there. There recommendation for a spa near by was a disgusting tanning salon that had "massages" in the back. Basically, the hotel is fine but don't expect quality responses or fast service.

I don't think i have ever had hotel staff this bad. First night there were children running down the halls and screaming. Their response "what do you want us to do about it?" I asked them to change my room they said "we will see" and never bothered to call me back. Second night they moved my room. Too bad it was a connecting room. (I told them no connecting rooms and it is in my profile.) I got to listen to the people next door scream and fight until midnight. At 8pm when i called down they said they would not change my room again. I am a platinum member. After the way i was treated I will not ever go back to that hotel.

The hotel is quite attractive, rooms are adequate albeit not spectacular for the price. They are scheduled for renovation/remodeling which will hopefully improve the halls, doors and carpets. My main gripe is all the extras. Internet access is $9.95/day, self-parking is $17.95, no complimentary breakfast (buffet breakfast is $19 and is just OK), no turn down service. For $220/night, I expected more. Even from 16th floor there was almost no view of the water. The bar/grill was sparsely staffed. These days even cheaper hotels offer free Internet and a free Continental breakfast. Luxury price without the luxury touches.

Rated 2 out of 5 by czizzies Did not meet my expectations
We asked to switch rooms after our first night, as we found that the shower was backed up. Further, the sheets were torn and old. When we went to the front desk to pick up our new keys, the receptionist demanded to know WHY we were changing rooms. She was unprofessional and rude.
We moved rooms and found that the new room also had a backed up shower.
I talked to the manager and he seemed to want to help, but didn't do a thing to make things right. I left knowing I would not return.
I expected much more from a Westin and was sorely disappointed.

I love the location where this hotel is located. It's close to some of the waterfront attractions, and close enough to some of the eateries along Pine Ave...yet far from the noise.
My only peeve with this hotel is paying addiitonal for wifi...both in the room and additional for the business center. So beware that even after accepting wifi charges in the room, the business center is ADDITIONAL to the room's wifi charges.
In speaking with the hotel, they say it's a 3rd party vendor. I get that...but for the price of this hotel...seriously...one would think that wifi charges would be inclusive.

I usually stay at another hotel chain in the area but it was booked. I chose the Westin on a recommendation from a co worker. The accomodations were great, the air quality in the hotel was much better than where I usually stay, no musty smell when you turn on the air. The food was execllent, better room service and breakfast choices. The only suggestions I would offer is for the elevators to be cleaned, the doors on the inside of the elevators were pretty bad, stained and fingerprints and have the computers in the business center working, they were not available when I needed them to print my boarding pass however the front desk did it for me. I would definetly stay here again despite having more invested in the other hotel point program.
