The Hotel is in need of an overall upgrade. The facility and rooms are clean, however, an infusion of general luxury is required.
All that said, the staff support was excellent, particularly, Catherine, from Concierge Services, who went the extra mile to remedy several issues that we experienced during our stay.

This hotel is a dinosaur and very underwhelming. Rooms and hallways are very tired, leaky faucets, bad lighting, staff that is missing in no- action, $45 overnight parking. Not coming back. So we elect to have the green option (no change of sheets) but no one even asks if you need a clean towel or more soap? How about fixing the leaky shower and save water that way! Room service- ordered a ham and cheddar sandwich and they said we only have turkey and Swiss on rye and they're pre made so you can't change. Or at breakfast when I told the waiter 3 times I am highly allergic to butter so they must use oil- only to get blown up with butter. Bad service and no attention to detail.

Beautiful entryway, the rooms were clean and well maintained (and clearly recently updated, very nicely done). Particularly perturbing to me, though: this is the only of the 40 or so Starwood properties that I've ever stayed at where the hotel limits the "continental breakfast" that Platinum members can select as a local gift (the little platinum breakfast tents) to fruit, yogurt, and cold danish - even more odd is that with the predominating trend being towards opening the entire buffet to Platinum members, hot food included, you aren't even informed of this particular hotel quirk until you're seated and your server has taken your platinum tent. If you're going to stray from the experience provided at nearly every other Starwood property (and let's be clear - these are the exact same eggs, bacon, potatoes, and otherwise that are served at every other Westin restaurant), that underwhelming deviation should be very clearly outlined when you're selecting free breakfast as your platinum gift. All in all, an unnecessary and petty hotel decision by the property that's just enough irritation to make me select one of the other numerous downtown San Diego Starwoods.
All in all, a quality property for most, but for those with status, you might find it better recognized elsewhere.

Just stopped in for 1 night but wished I could have stayed more. Comfy Westin beds as usual, walking distance to the waterfront, Petco Park, breweries, restaurants, etc...
45$ for parking overnight was the only downside but you can easily get by without a car here for a few days getaway.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in December, 2015. Was in town for a meeting.
Overall, it was an outstanding experience.
I was contacted by the hotel staff prior to my arrival. I requested a few recommendations- cigar bars and fish taco places. They responded promptly with great recommendations.
The staff was great, room was clean, hotel in a fantastic location in gas lamp district. Work out facility perfect.
Overall, just a very good feel to the hotel, and I'm a Starwood hotel snob!
I don't have anything negative to stay.
Will be staying here when I return to one of my favorite cities!

Staff, especially the valet parking staff is very good and responsive.
Loved the happy hour and breakfast (yes, in that order :))
What this place misses is a Club Lounge. That is kind of nice to have feature.

I had never stayed at this Westin before but I do travel often for work and I can honestly say it was exceptional. Specifically, Sarah at the front desk was so sweet to us. From the start she was wonderful from getting us checked in early to sending cookies with a special note to the room for our daughter - just wonderful. Its a shame every hotel doesn't have people like her! It may have been our first time but we will definitely come back :)
