Rated 3 out of 5 by Outside noise Hotel was very nice inside and out with a very helpful staff. Two downsides however, half of the tv channels did not work and I was on the third floor and the noise coming from the street was extremely loud the entire night and morning. March 20, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Didn't live up to Westin expectations. We had to wait over 2 hours past check in time for our room to be ready. I realize this is San Francisco, but overnight parking charges and the cost of a cup of coffee in the hotel lobby were ridiculous. Heating and air unit very noisy. January 2, 2013

Rated 3 out of 5 by Noisy Room We had a room next to the lift shaft which made our stay extremely noisy . I would have expected a hotel of the Westin level to have covered off simple things like this . Sound proving rooms next to noisy areas is relatively simple February 9, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Union Square Side The room was old, needed painting, old carpet, elevators didn't work well, cable went out over and over, bathroom needs painting, wallpaper. Do not like the new shower heads with the rain water. The old double heads were fantastic. February 4, 2013

Room was very nice and provided all that was needed. Elevators were extremely responsive with 5-10 seconds! Thanks for a great experience. April 9, 2013

Rated 2 out of 5 by You have to do the basics first! Check-in - OK Gold Recognition - OK Room Size - OK Hot water for shower - 0............. I dont care what the view is - how nice the people are or how big your room is - when you need hot water - you should get hot water...... December 17, 2012

Rated 2 out of 5 by Old Section is OLD Don't stay in the old section -- the furniture is from the Eisenhower Admin days. The halls are wide but the room was spartan and old. Heavenly bed was nice Really -- for the same price pick the W, Palace or St Regis........ November 4, 2011

Rated 1 out of 5 by SPG MEMBERS BEWARE OF POOR SERVICE This hotel has extremely small rooms that are poorly designed and uncomfortable. The bathroom door cannot open literally have to slide through a small opening and close the door to stand in the bathroom. You can lay in the bed and touch both walls on your left and right. After checking in, housekeeping barged in without knocking and disturbed us unexpectedly. And the absolute worst thing is definitely the service by the front desk staff. As an SPG platinum member, they made me feel very unwelcome. They claimed they couldn't change my room when I voiced concern with the room I received, yet many others were showing available online. Other staff in the hotel has also commented on the difficulty of the front desk staff saying "they rarely help and are rather difficult". When I complained of not being comfortable here (which was 5 minutes after check in) they refused to do anything to help...including not allowing me to cancel and move to another Westin hotel nearby where I could be much more satisfied. Overall, this property has extremely poor staff, poor attention to detail and is among the worst spg properties I have ever experienced. There is one positive - the bell staff is prompt, informed and a pleasure. October 3, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by A grand old dame is in need of a facelift While the staff at the St. Francis is top-drawer the rooms even in the newer section are sorely in need of updating and refreshing. The rooms in the "historic" section need complete renovation. Great location; but tired. February 3, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by No noise control Hotel security could not control noise. Kids running in halls @ 3 AM. Terrible night, no sleep. Would not recommend this hotel when it has an event for young people going on. I stayed on 12/21 and had the worse stay ever. December 25, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor Customer Service I was booked for a room on my honeymoon for 2 nights and showed up to the hotel to find out they didn't have the room type I booked available. They put us in a 2 double room with no apologies. Very poor customer service. November 18, 2012

Rated 5 out of 5 by Historical St. Francis It was a nightmare getting to the hotel. It took over 2 hours to get from the Presidio to the St. Francis. The hotel itself was as rated above. Had I been aware there would be a problem I would have planned differently. November 27, 2012

Rated 3 out of 5 by Vomit When I got into the room there was vomit on the floor. Still wet with some carpet cleaner over top of it. All nice and yellow. I called downstairs to say there was vomit on the floor and they didn't care. Awful! February 22, 2012
