Rated 3 out of 5 by lack of response booked the hotel for us and 1 other couple and stayed for 1 night at the hotel on a layover and found a sink that would not drain. Asked the front desk to please fix it so that we can use the bathroom that night. Nobody responded nor any action taken. Ended up using the bathtub to brush our teeth and wash up the night before and in the morning. Disappointing. February 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by mini vacation!! We love heading over to SF from the east bay and being pampered for the weekend. Two nights at the St. Francis felt like we were on a relaxing vacation. The employees all make us feel like old friends. We would never stay anywhere else when we get away to the city. We stay at the Westin St. Francis many times each year and we always receive fabulous service. February 17, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Can't beat the location Beautiful hotel right on union square. We had a great time watching world cup in the cafe. We were in the older building which I liked (beautiful details and chandelier in the room, I also like being able to open the window). My roommate thought it was a little noisy at night, the new tower building might be quieter. I slept the beds June 24, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by A fabulous hotel! I just loved everything about the Westin St. Francis: from customer service, food, location... It was above and beyond our expectation. Special Thanks to Danka at the Concierge desk who gave us great tips what to see in San Francisco and booked a dinner for us in a great restaurant. Thanks to the whole team Westin St. Francis!!! You made my stay amazing! April 21, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by History, Class and Comfort I now have a new favorite hotel when I visit San Francisco. Staff was excellent and exceeded my expectations. Luis, not sure of his title -- Asst. Manager, made my check in experience great. I had an issue with the toilet, but it was fixed while I was away on business. Thank you to all the staff for making my experience a well-remembered one. Rated 2 out of 5 by Check-in When I arrived, 8:00 PM there was one Agent behind the Desk. 3 guests in the Premier Line and 3 guests in the regular line. I waited over 15 minutes to check in. There was no call for assistance. Agents from the back were very slow to come out. This is the second time I have been dissatisfied checking into the St. Francis Hotel. William H Devine April 6, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing Hotel! We have stayed at the Westin St. Francis many times. It is in a perfect location for shops, food, sight-seeing and people watching. We came up to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday and they gave us a beautiful corner room with sweeping water views as well as a delectable tray of desserts. I can't wait to come back for my 50th in February! September 29, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice place. Above ordinary This was my first time staying in San Francisco. I attended the Cisco live conference. the weather was pleasant, so I walked to and from the event most of the time. I like the hotel, It was very nice and secure. the staff were excellent and didn't treat me as dome low class citizen, as I have been treated in other higher cost hotels. May 24, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love the formality The hotel was great. I stayed there 30+ years ago and it is much nicer than it was then. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, clean and it is located in the heart of the city. The staff was courteous and sincere. My wife left her glasses in the lobby and they called us to tell us they found them (her name was in the glasses case.) May 17, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Expected More The room furnishings were dated, the decor appalling. The way the internal doors operated was hazardous, bathroom doors opening into cupboard doors and obstructing passage. The heavenly beds saved the day, along with hotel location. Incredible that this room on the 25th floor is SPG. Overpriced and overrated. Would not recommend. April 21, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Valet parking is terrible! It took 45 minutes to an hour to get car from valet parking. Inquired at the front desk and was told there was nothing they could do as it was a third party vendor. I inquired as to whether this wait was normal, and again the attitude of the front desk was the wait was normal and if it was a problem I should stay somewhere else. November 27, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not quite up to standard Staff was very friendly and helpful and the location cannot be beat. Unfortunately, the tower guest room, was just not up to par for a "luxury" hotel. The decor felt dated and the surrounding air had a hint of stale cigarette smoke, even though it's a non-smoking hotel. Might have had better luck in the Landmark building. December 11, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Customer service needs improvement I was very excited to come to the hotel that I spent my senior prom many...many years ago. Check in was a bit challengingt as we asked for ajoining rooms and did not get our request. The person that assisted us was very accomodating and professional. I don't remember her name but she was worked in the back office. She was very respectful, understanding and helpful. We attended my niece's wedding that was beautiful. We sat in the "Financial District" table and the waiters were awful. They continually bumped our chairs as they walked by and waited on us. They literally placed the food on the table as if they were in a race. Table was set with three additional name tags that would not accomodate seating. We were having to play who gets to sit.. Waiters told us to talk to the lead waitress who told us "what do you want me to do about it". REALLY? She finally found three seats elsewhere. I am making these statement only to help you improve your staff's customer service. April 1, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great location, good service I stayed one night using points and cash option. I am a Platinum member and I was upgraded to a Junior Suite using one of my certificates. It was a classic room in the old part of the hotel - high ceilings. It was very quiet and I had a good night's sleep. Friendly and quick checking. Nothing to complain about here. April 20, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Too much money for what you get We chose this hotel to stay at for our 19th wedding anniversary. We had stayed there our wedding night so we thought it would be sentimental to stay there again. We remembered the room from our wedding night as being beautiful but small and we wanted to pay more this time for something bigger. We got checked in and went up to our room. It was bigger, but looked like any standard chain hotel in the country. Definitely not beautiful and to top it off when we walked into the room, house keeping obviously hadn't touched it since the last guest had stayed there. We called the front desk. They told us to come back down to the lobby and they would switch and "upgrade" our room. Well the only thing different about the new room was it was smaller!! Obviously our stay there was completely disappointing. I'd be willing to pay the prices for this hotel if they offered anything different than any other chain hotel but they don't. We won't be staying there again...sentiment or not! December 15, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Perfect location, great hotel We booked 3 rooms at the St. Francis for an extended family vacation. The location can not be beat, central to everything, right in the heart of Union Square. One of our rooms faced right onto the square with a prime view and there were no issues with sound even though it was not very high up. Our kids loved riding in the glass elevators, we did it numerous times and you get a grand view of the city. The staff were all extremely welcoming and helpful. Parking is extremely exorbitant since it is in union square, as are all the lots nearby. But staff was very gracious in allowing us to park our rental car in the driveway without charge for about an hour or so while we gathered everyone so that was very helpful. We found the staff generally to be extremely helpful, however sometimes the information was a little inconsistent. Of our rooms, we had some booked in cash, some on points, and some on points and cash. It was difficult getting those all credited to my Starwood account correctly. It required some diligent folllow up, but once pointed out they worked hard to correct the issues. They were also not very generous about free upgrades, so our points room had absolutely no view, but we were fine with that. Would certainly stay at the St. Francis again on our next trip to San Fran. January 24, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by The view of the city and bay was breathtaking We never closed the drapes. We loved seeing San Francisco day and night from our expansive windows. We could see for miles. The hotel was iconic with great food. We were just three blocks from the BART, the trolley car and taxis were right out our front door along with blocks of shopping. What more do you need? Rated 2 out of 5 by Disappointing I will be terse: simply disappointing. Very expensive, $51.00 parking a night is a total rip-off, $15.00 internet is also a rip-off. Nothing complimentary. Old furniture, no shower cap, dirty/dusty closet door on the inside. No more St. Francis for us. The Oak Room dining experience was quite disappointing. March 31, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Did not meet expectations 1. Very, very slow elevators. 2. Unpleasant odor on 7th floor hallway. 3. Several large stain marks on 7th floor hallway. 4. Dirty wine glasses in room. I poured my wife a glass of Chardonnay that had to be dumped due to debris floating in glass. 5. Thin walls. Can hear child coughing in room next door. January 3, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Just ok I picked this hotel for the history. Nothing really stood out. The service was sub par and at times lacking. There was no spg recognition and everything even going green required me to go talk to the front desk. Plus there is no way if you have a low floor near the street that you are getting any sleep. Rated 4 out of 5 by Was little disappointed I have stayed at this hotel in the past and was very pleased. However, the last stay was little disappointing. The room did not have good sound insulation and I could hear other doors closing with big bang till very late in the night. I could also hear bathroom usage noise from other guests too. Rated 2 out of 5 by Cool and saccharin staff All the staff were short and aloof-- no real interest in making guests feel comfortable. Rooms were tired and we never felt like a valued guest. We used to love your hotel and looked forward to staying there at. Christmas. Such a pity. I'll bet we don't even get a response to this feedback. December 12, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Amenities could use improvement First of all,the internet should be complementary in the business center and should most certainly not have a ten dollar minimum. Secondly, i found the furniture in my room, which was in the newer tower building to be stained and old-looking. The shower products are not the best quality. November 14, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by A pleasurable stay Everything we expected and more. Great location for everything you might want to do. Bus and cable cars stops at the hotel. January 22, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Comfortable and first class amenities all around. Staff outstandingly helpful. Best stay in a hotel EVER, comfortable room, wonderful bed, great light (important for females - makeup etc. y'know?), fresh great coffee every day, good TV channels, close to everything and love the sound of the cable cars passing below - would definitely choose this hotel again. Rated 4 out of 5 by Noisy I've stayed several times over the years at the St Francis, but this was my first stay in the Tower. My room was lovely; large and newly renovated. However, the noise level from water banging around pipes (I believe from room below) was incredible. Made me miss the old wing. May 9, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Nice Staff but rooms need airing out Second time staying here. Staff are friendly and helpful. They've put me in the classic building twice and there is a distinct smell in the hallway and the rooms. It's the smell of old buildings. I wish they would air it out. Otherwise, the rooms were clean and bathroom was okay. January 24, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Westin St Francis San Francisco is Great We have been staying at the Westin St Francis for the last 15 years for our Annual Vacation to California. We have alway's been very pleased with our accommodations, the hotel staff, food and value for such a central San Francisco location. June 23, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful Stay! The Westin St. Francis provided my best hotel stay ever. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are comfortable and the cleanest of any hotel I've ever experienced. I had absolutely no symptoms of my dust allergies during my entire stay and I slept very well. April 15, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by excellent location I stayed at the hotel to attend a conference and I liked the spacious rooms the most, the staff were kind and helpful and the location of the hotel is perfect, just at the union square with access to shopping malls and lots of restaurants and activities.
