I was generally disappointed by this hotel, especially for the price I paid. It's admittedly in a great location, but the quality of the rooms is way lower than I would expect from Westin and for the price. The first room I was given didn't have a working shower, but the front desk was quick to give me a new room. Both rooms, however, had windows that faced directly into other rooms (and were so close that I couldn't open the blinds at all). The second room I was given also had a very musty smell. Both rooms had bathrooms with really unappealing fluorescent lighting and very minimal counter space (barely had room for my toothbrush, contacts case, and makeup bag). In my second room, the bed literally does not face the TV at all- it's almost entirely perpendicular to the TV so you're watching from a ridiculous angle. On the positive side: beds are very comfortable and the shower head is great. If you have a choice though, stay at the W...

Rated 3 out of 5 by Tatsuya115 It was OK
Overall experience was just Good to OK.
As I have been seeing it as an trend. It seems that Westin hotel has old facility, and it felt this hotel was a bit outdated.
As it was in SF Downtown, and Westing Brand. I was expecting more, but it has only delivered the average hotel facility level.
The stuff were friendly, and awesome. But I would recommend to go for W hotel or other places.

When I arrived for the first of my 2 night stay I was in a historical room that was small, dingy and dated. I often stay at historical properties in New York, Chicago and Boston, and this was by far one of the worst experiences. Upon check in I requested a room in the Tower, which would be available the following night. The lady that checked me in, the best interaction of my stay, suggested I have my items packed and ready and come to the front desk at 11AM for the room change. The new room was not ready until after 4PM, the bellman that switched the rooms could not have been more confused. He was the 2nd person to barge into my room that day with a quick knock and then the door opening, no time to even respond. The first person that barged into the room was there to take photos of fixtures for rehab. Glad there will be rehab, wish he didn't barge into my room with a camera.
The new Tower was great. Breakfast Buffet was way overpriced for the meager offerings. Called after check out to have some changes to my folio (wanted to pay some charges on a personal card instead of my corporate card) and was advised this is against corporate policy. REALLY? I am a frequent business traveler, this is a very common request and i guess that means no more Starwood stays for me if they can't adjust my folio as needed for expense reports.

Rated 3 out of 5 by JLN1973 Great location but needs food/bar updating
Great location in Union Square within walking distance of the Moscone center. Was lucky enough to get into the Tower with updated rooms which were great. Other coworkers were in the old part with severely outdated rooms. The restaurant options in the hotel are not great. One of the restaurants closed and there is only one available. The bar does not serve food and it is crazy small. The hotel would be well served to update their bottom floor with better food and beverage options.

We stayed four nights at the end of last summer, and due to circumstances, arrived at the Hotel at a very busy time without a booking. Dustin on the Front Desk was wonderful and arranged a very comfortable room quickly and without fuss. Dustin set the standard for the Hotel which was mirrored in all the other staff we encountered.
The room was beautifully furnished, large and very clean with a super quiet air-con, The coffee machine was a welcome addition to the room, and in use immediately after a bit of a stressful day. Dustin's phone call checking on our comfort during that first cup really consolidated our opinion that the Westin St Francis will be the place to stay in San Francisco!

Such a beautiful hotel. Friendly staff, close to almost everything. A bit loud with it being in Union Square. But over all great!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Grenservice Green services need to be explained better
When agreeing to not have towels and sheets changed, it was not explained that housekeeping would not come in at all. Disappointed to be paying so much for a room where they do not even come in to remove the trash

I have stayed in 3 star hotels in several third world countries and found them a better experience than this one. I was in the older wing of the hotel. the room was dated; there was no free wi fi; we had to order a refrigerator to be brought to us (it arrived after an hour and half and three phone calls); er opted out of the green option, but each day the cleaning staff skipped the room (they came back after an hour and a half and three more phone calls); the front desk staff have been trained to smile and tell the customer anything they want to hear regardless of its truth; my room (I was promised with a smile) was supposed to be quiet and have a view: the view was into my neighbor's' windows, and the room was on the street opposite Union Square and next door to the Victoria Secret that was being remodled - jack hammers began at 7am each morning!
