We were a party of four and stayed at the westin maui for 6 nights in June. All in all we had a great time, the facilities of the hotel were great, especially the fantastic outdoor pool area, and the staff was really friendly and helpful. We were up-graded to an ocean front view room with no extra charge. On the day we checked out, having an evening flight, we had full access to all the hotel services and were given a hospitality suite to shower up before leaving.
There are a few things altough that did not meet our expectations. Even though the lobby and and all downstairs area are elegant and nicely furnitured, we cannot say the same for our rooms. The rooms need a serious renovation ! The most disappointing thing were the bathrooms as they are very 70s like. We also had problems with the bathtubh draining...
The furnitures in the room were battered and have definitely seen better times. Having experienced different westin hotels around the world, we can say that this aspect of the westin maui was quite a disappointment. We think they really need to invest some serious money in the rooms renovation/makeover and bring them to the 21st century !
Apart from that, as said before, we had a great time.

This hotel is at best 3 star hotel with 4 star prices. It is not worth the money.

We'd booked a Thursday and Friday night at the hotel, Saturday being the day we checked into our Starwood timeshare a couple miles north. After having been up for almost 24 hours, we looked forward to a shower, quick dinner, and rest. I had no reason to doubt my experience at this Westin would be any less wonderful than my other hotel and timeshare experiences. Oh my.
We were 'upgraded' to the Ocean Tower. Great view. However, the carpet had huge rolls, the kind on which you are destined to trip. The elevator noise was very loud. Husband took a shower first, but the tub did not drain. Not wanting to get into dirty water up to my calves, I asked husband to call down to maintenance. The phone did not work and he had to call on his cell phone. I went to sit on the sofa, but decided this was not a good idea since the once pale gold upholstery looked as though it had not been cleaned for a long, long time. The plumber came and after 40 minutes of listening to his drill and smelling oil, we'd had enough. We were moved, but to the same tower. Not good~ but better. We learned all other towers have been renovated. We are supposed to return in three weeks. I told husband I would rather fly home early. So disappointing~

We are Gold SPG members and have been for quite a while. We won a silent auction last year at the Hawaiian Island of Oahu’s SPG “Royal Hawaiian” for a 2 night stay and resort fees included.
Before we arrived, we had asked for a room upgrade due to being Gold and having a “Run of the House” certificate AND the certificate reads we are entitled to the best room available at the time of check-in.
When checking in, we clearly stated we don’t want a room near the elevators or ice machines. The SPG Gold/Platinum check-in man stated he would take care of it and we proceeded to room 1055. Please be aware room 1055 is DIRECTLY across from the elevator. You had to listen to the sound of an elevator going up-and-down 24-7 for our two night award from the silent auction.
Everything else was perfect… except we were charged $300 for the “Room Upgrade”. What? I clearly read the certificate to the certificate redemption lady on the property over the phone before arrival and she upgraded the room to the 10th floor ocean view. Again, “best room” was guaranteed.
Where does the $300 fee come from and actually it came to around $312 on my Platinum AMEX. This is NOT right and something should be done about the certificate person’s irresponsibility.
Aside from that, it’s the best resort on the Island of Maui. Beautiful, well managed (with aforementioned discrepancy), clean, and fun. I would most likely recommend the Maui Westin Resort & Spa to ALL my friends planning a trip to Maui.
