This hotel is in a great location but that's about all it has going for it. The service was pretty much non existent. After we checked in, not one employee ever said a word to us. No hello, no "can I help you," nothing. One day I called to see why the Internet was not working. Took 5 calls before anyone picked up the phone. When someone fnally did, the woman on the phone said "yes, the Internet is down. Someone is working on it now," Nnotthing else. No apology, no should be back up soon, nothing. Very cold. The only other service I encountered was when the bellman hailed a cab for me -- and he got in an argument with the cab driver!
The room was very tired. The bathroom counter was cracked, there was mold in the shower. The lights were way too dim in he bathroom, I could barely see to put on makeup. The shampoo, conditioner and lotion were awful. The TV was extremely staticky.
All in all, there was nothing by to like about the hotel other than the location.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DrJones New Rooms and Decor is Refreshing
My family recently stayed at this wonderful hotel due to its location on the magnificent mile in the heart of Chicago. We had a wonderful suite and was thoroughly impressed with the results of the rooms renovation. And you can never go wrong when getting a good nights rest in the amazing Heavenly Bed!

The new renovation has transformed this property from a functionally basic hotel to an extremely attractive property.
The newly renovated rooms are a great improvement over the old rooms and the addition of a club lounge is a total game changer.
Combine this with the excellent location and you now have a totally first class property!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by NFLDAY2DIEHARD Great location
Great location on magnificent mile and close to lake. Many good restaurants nearby as well as shopping. Was attending NFL draft and transportation was good but traffic was another thing. A MESS. Good walk as street is flat and scenic and interesting, to say the least. Would stay here again and hopefully the hotel renovations will be finished.

We've stayed at the Weston many times and love it. We would highly recommend it. Great location, wonderful staff and now really updated! You can't beat the location. Your staff is so friendly and helpful.

Rated 2 out of 5 by LisaW2013 SUPERB LOCATION. WARN OUT AND NEEDING UPDATING.
The location of this hotel is premium for sure, however the hotel itself is in great need of updating. It is old and worn out and in really bad shape. At present the price is right, but will probably go up once they update in 2015. The hotel does not have food service. However there is a wonderful and very pricy restaurant downstairs. The staff is unresponsive and uncaring. Just merely doing their main job and nothing more. There are a myriad of street people that fill the lobby sofas while trying to keep warn in winter. (We stayed during the Christmas holiday.) At best this hotel is a category 3, solely based on its fabulous location. A category 1 if it was located elsewhere.

April weekend stay in Chicago at the Westin Michigan Avenue! This is my favorite hotel and location and even though remodeling was going on, our newly remodeled room was as comfortable as always!! Friendly staff makes you feel welcome and almost like home! Great food, good drinks, awesome accommodations, Michigan Avenue - this is what makes us want to come back again and again!

Rated 3 out of 5 by ExpatChicagoen Convenient location, clean and nice though a bit dated
Came here for a conference and to catch up with a friend in the city. Easy to stay at this hotel as there is lots within walking distance and easy access to buses and taxis. There are newer fresher and fancier hotels in the area with correspondingly higher rates. Conference facilities were perfectly fine, though temperature control in meeting rooms unpredictable. Lunch served to the group was fresh, healthy and tasty. Guest room: I had a low floor inside room, meaning the window overlooked a central empty space with ventilation units and views of similar windows across the way. Although some light filtered down from above it had a cave like feeling that was hard to overcome with available lighting in room. I had received an email the week prior to my stay offering to upgrade my room to a 'view' for an extra $20 per night, so I guess i should have anticipated this. There was a slow leak in the toilet tank triggering a sudden loud gush of refilling water every hour or so loud enough to wake me up throughout the first night. I notified the desk the next morning and they were responsive, sending someone to work on it that day, which reduced the frequency of the noise but not eliminating it. Bed and linens were comfortable and my advanced request for down free pillows was met without any need for me to call housekeeping after checking in. This is unusual and much appreciated. There was an empty mini fridge in room which I like to use for milk for my morning coffee... interestingly there was a warning on the unit saying it was not suitable for dairy products or medicines, presumably because it's not kept at low enough temperatures. Putting a milk carton in the ice bucket with ice and placing the whole thing in the fridge worked fine; ice remained frozen for the three days I was there. Since this traditional 'ice box' strategy worked, I ended up viewing the nominal refrigeration as a good energy saving policy.
