Rated 4 out of 5 by Great beach and pool Still a decent place to stay - great pool, comfortable rooms, awesome beach. Unfortunately, the quality of service has diminished over the years. I do miss the days when the staff treated all guests as if they were VIPs. Now, as far as the staff appears to be concerned - you're just anybody, staying at any hotel. August 6, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Less than ideal Magnificent property that totally underperformed the location. Rate was not what I negotiated, extraordinary charge to use chairs on the beach as well. For a hotel that is charging almost $300 a night, no turn down service and not even replacement of soap. Facility clean but not exceptionally so. October 15, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Very Relaxing hotel We always love staying at Westins as their beds are great, this one met all of our expectations, close to the ocean and large pool area. This was a relaxing stay. Their garden view does have something to be desired, all greenery no flowers, it was the middle of July though. July 13, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Renovations finally complete I've stayed at the HHI Westin for over 30 nights over the past 8 years so I feel most qualified to rate this hotel. The renovations completed this spring finally brings the HHI Westin back up to the Westin standards. The rooms are very modern, comfortable and clean and what you are used to at other Westin hotels. The two pools have received facelifts. The pool deck has been re-surfaced and now there is plenty of seating surrounding the pools. Oceans restaurant has a new menu and have undergone renovations. The staff are turned over and much improved from the from previous years. The Spa continues to be excellent. The giftshop is much more welcoming. The location is amazing and the beach is very clean and family friendly. The SPG Platinum ammenities are outstanding which include: free valet parking, daily breakfast buffet for 2 (a very good value), upgraded rooms. They are finally providing late check outs for Plats which was never granted previously to me. Overall, I'm happy that the Westin is again the premier spot to visit on HHI. I have a feeling that the secret will get out again and crowds will return to the Westin. I hope that the hotel management can keep these high standards for years to come. July 31, 2013

I was bummed there was no store yet because I left home without face wash or lotion, assuming that a beach island would have plenty of areas for me to grab some. It seems like this hotel is by the golf courses, and has its own private beach entrance, but it is a very secluded beach area. It was not what I was hoping for on my honeymoon. We had to go down to a much farther area to find more people hanging out at the beach. I also told them it was our honeymoon and they did nothing even though my friends have always told me SPG will either give food vouchers, strawberries, or a better room. I was happy to be on the SPG floor, however. I liked the bathroom and the shower. Our window view was a bunch of trees, so it seemed a little anti climatic. All the rooms are noisy and you can hear someone from another room closing and opening their bathroom door, talking, anything. Luckily I don't think the hotel was very busy during our stay. Loved the luggage closet. We were able to check out but come back for our luggage when our taxi service came to pick us up. There were lots of pools and no one was really in them. That's a plus, since hotel photos of pools show a desolate pool area but the reality is a sardine can. May 6, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Beautiful hotel needing a few changes The Westin at Hilton Head is a gorgeous hotel along a magnificent beach. The hotel, grounds, and rooms are tastefully decorated and very comfortable. I only have two suggestions: a) wifi needs to be easily accessible and free for all ones devices b) don't chintz out on charging a "Resort Service Charge" in addition to the fee. That should be included with the room rate or at least inform the customer at registration. April 21, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Staff I frequently stay at Starwood properties but received some of the best service I've had at this one. Upon checking in Charlotte told us that it was our 50th stay at a Starwood. It was my first wedding anniversary and she had a bottle of wine delivered to our room. The next day on our actual anniversary a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries were left as a gift. We also met two great bartenders (one at Splash and the other at View 32 from N. Ireland) and a wonderful poolside waitress. We plan to be back and are recommending the resort to our friends and family. Thank you for making our trip a success and our anniversary memorable. Rated 3 out of 5 by Second Stay This is the second time my family had stay at this property and we really enjoyed the new renovations and we enjoyed the rooms but we had a horrible experience at the restaurant. We had arrived at 6pm but our food wasn't served until 7pm. When we asked the waiter why it was taking so long he simply laughed it off and the bread was not served until our meal was served. Two of us ordered salads yet were served without dressing and the rest of us had our food that was well over cooked. I would have to say that if the restaurants could also receive a new renovation along with some additional training for the staff it could have been a better experience. June 19, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful Anniversary Trip My wife and I recently celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary together at the Westin Hilton Head. It was our first vacation in years, and we didn't know what to expect. We were first greeted by Hannah at the front desk. She was warm, pleasant, and professional. She took the time to give us a personal tour of the beautiful facilities, and was absolutely delightful. She also helped to upgrade us to an Ocean View room since it was our anniversary, and the room was truly amazing. We had a minor issue with the air conditioning unit during the middle of the night, and Gary at the front desk went out of his way to correct the problem for us. Maintenance was dispatched to correct the problem immediately, and we felt Gary was a hero for helping us to resolve the issue at 4:00 in the morning. We indulged ourselves at the amazing onsite Spa facilities, and we received first rate service from Jeremy at the Spa reception desk. He helped us get the appointment times that worked best for us, and more importantly he had an excellent sense of humor. The pool area was fantastic, and that is where we spent most of our time. The pools were large, clean, and they had both sun and shade sitting options available. The pool staff was wonderful as well, especially Katie who took time to get to know us while we spent hours at the pool. She went out of her way to spoil us, and to make sure we did not want for anything food and drink wise. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a beautiful getaway. The facilities are of course first rate, but it is the wonderful staff that truly helps to make this a special place. June 6, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by A wonderful stay... Although, it was January...This was a wonderful property. I was told they just completed a major renovation. This hotel was beautiful. We had an oceanfront room that we truly enjoyed. The outdoor area was really well done. I can't wait to return in the spring. This hotel is a hidden gem. I also want to thank Caitlin for wonderful breakfast and dinner recommendations. She was very welcoming. She was so pleasant each day that we saw her. I also want to thank Krysten for welcoming us to the property, giving us tips of when to visit again and wishing us well back to Florida. The hotel's Carolina Cafe was a great breakfast spot. Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic Stay We had an excellent stay at the Westin Hilton Head. I am writing this sitting from our beautiful ocean front room (upgraded via SPG Platinum status). Love the fact that as a platinum you have both breakfast buffet comped (my choice rewards) and valet is comped. The staff and service has been great. We especially enjoyed Gavin as our server for breakfast every morning.....he really made each morning nice for our family. As a frequent business traveler and someone who is very picky about what hotels I stay in while on vacation, we will definitely return to this property again in the future. Rated 5 out of 5 by A Potential Dream Place on a sleepy Island Just returned from this property. It supposed to be a dream place on a sleepy island. While we enjoyed our stay, here are some issues I want to raise: SPG recognition: Terrible. When we checked in we were not treated as platinum members. I requested a suite upgrade using the suite night rewards. My request was denied. The "upgraded" room we got was terrible. The balcony door glass was not washed in months (or maybe years) and the balcony was all peeled off ( I have pictures to prove it). We finally got a suite upgrade for our last night there. I have to say that Chris (one of the managers) has great skills and he is a people and service person. We received excellent service from him. Renovation: this property really needed it. Overall the property looks great and the pool area even greater. However, because they did the renovation while being open, it does not look like a 35 mil renovation. It is unequal and subpar. One of the most bothersome issues at this property: if you stay in the north tower you need to know that there is only one elevator which is at the far end of the building close to the pool and beach. It is odd. It is always a long line and a long wait. This property is short on towels. The towels are not Westin quality. 2-3 days they ran out of towels and then they began to only give one towel per person. To cover the chairs (which are not very clean) you need 2 towels. This is very cheap and gives the feeling of low class service. Food: Breakfast is good. For dinner the options are limited. At Carolina you have exactly 6 options for entrée and about the same for Oceans. Oceans provides delicious food. One of the most inconvenient things is the fact that Carolina restaurant does not have a restroom. You need to travel a really long way to the lobby to be able to find one. Ridiculous. The all inclusive pass for kids is very confusing and at times embarrassing. Employees are not informed about and everyone has a different take on it. However, this could be a very good and valuable program for kids. We enjoyed the property, the food, the island, the beach, the golf course, and the service overall. I am leaving a 5 star review because of location and people like Chris, Patricia, etc. This is a great place for families, conference, weddings, etc. July 17, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not a place to stay if the weather is rainy staying in April is taking a huge chance on the weather. The outdoor dining spaces were closed most of the time. this put pressure on the limited inside eating areas. The large outdoor pool is unheated which really limited opportunities as the 2 smaller pools were kid central 9they were heated). Parking was a hassle. April 21, 2014

Rated 1 out of 5 by Recent Visit We were visiting for the Motor Festival Nov. 2013. The floor plan or the layout of the hotel leaves a lot to be desired. As you entered the main entrance & check in, I learned that the nearest elevator was at the far end of the hotel.(Most hotels elevators are near your check in point so you can have access to your room, our was on the 3rd floor.) This month I was 73 years old and have been treated for COPD by my doctor. It was extremely difficult to walk from the front desk to the elevator and from the elevator back to my room. Over the years I have never seen or visited a hotel where the elevator was on the opposite end of the complex. I was so uncomfortable my wife & I decided that not to walk this distance to my room every day we would check out first thing in the morning. November 7, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Delightful stay but too short! Excellent resort and one of the nicest ocean/pool combinations with spectacular views, ample relaxation areas and very friendly staff! We came from the Masters tournament earlier in the week and only had two nights which was not enough to experience your golf course and all of the resort amenities. Can't wait to return! Rated 4 out of 5 by Conference stay The hotel was great for a conference due to being the right size. It was big enough for being interesting, but small enough walking was kept to a minimum. I was surprized that for the first time ever a request to have a 1/2 hour or 1 hour delayed check out was denied. A hotel this size and quality, in the off seaon should easily be able to swing a later check out. April 9, 2014
