Yes, you can have a comfortable stay, even though a huge 33 million Hotel renovation is going on. The Staff makes it possible. The Doormen, Housekeeping Staff , and the excellent Concierge's made this ALL possible! Chris, Alex, and Holly, were simply the Best! (so sorry, I have forgotten one name, that was also superior) The Staff at Oceans were also wonderful.

I'm glad to hear this Weston is getting a renovation. It desperately needs it from its tired dinged furniture to bad carpet. To all the mildew smell in the room and growing mildew around the pools and the broken pool rail. The food is only average but priced as if it was something special. Not having cell coverage on your property was an annoyance but the internet service that was provided was terrible! Horrible signal strength that made it almost unusable to the sign in process which often took more then several tries. I would also like to say that a tip is something that is given for service that warrents it and should not be automatically included at the pool side bar, very inappropriate! If this property wasn't getting a renovation we would definitely not return to this property.

We booked a "Premium Oceanfront Room"
and upon exiting the elevator were met with a strong mold/mildew smell which was also in the room.
The rug was shredded at the sliding glass door and so were the drapes. The gasket fell out of the fridge when you opened it.
The A/C unit was so loud it startled us awake all through the night.
Our balcony was VERY small and enclosed - you had to walk out onto the balcony and stick your head out to see the view.
The spa has 1 functioning jet and makes a loud unpleasant sputtering sound continuously.
The next day - after a long conversatioin with the front desk and a 4 hour wait we were able to re-locate to another room that had recently been renovated and it was much better. However, this took away a large chunk of our short 3 day stay.

Hotel is in need of updating. Room and building is tired. Brass chandalier in lobby says it all. Could use a general store with basic groceries and drinks within the building - but not with inflated hostage market prices. Resort isn't conveniently located near any grocery stores, shops or restaurants. Poolside service was nearly non-existent. Poolside burger was sub-standard and not typical Westin quality - thin frozen patty. Pool had some calypso latin hip hop mash up beats playing at an annoying level. Room was small but bed was comfy. A property upgrade is a huge opportunity for Starwood as HH Island is made up of a bunch of tired circa 80s hotels all in need of updating. The island is hungry for a new higher end ocean-side hotel resort. It's this resort's for the taking if they act quickly.

Beach was lovely and outside areas were very nice. Staff was accomodating and well trained.
Elevators were not conveniently located, causing extremely long walks with packages, luggage, etc. from lobby to elevator to room.
I was expecting robes to be provided, considering the reputation of the hotel, and did not pack my own. None were in our closet.
The bar was not at all inviting and I saw several people do as we did--left after looking it over.

While we had good food in the Carolina Cafe, we were extremely disappointed that Oceans was not open. We fully understand that when the hotel has low occupancy there's a need for economy, however, since the Weston at Hilton Head IS AN OCEAN property, it would be nicer to relax in the Oceans type room rather than in the interior of the hotel, with no view. Otherwise, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, as always, and we will return. We may check ahead to see if Oceans will be open because we so enjoy relaxing there after our long drive from Toronto, Canada. Thanks again. There is a $16 service charge for a little bus that takes guests to different locations on the island, however, the service is minimal to say the least in the off season, and I feel this charge should be waived if you're not able to use it.

My wife and I stayed here for her birthday Labor Day weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff was fast and friendly. They even sent her a present to the room for her birthday. The beach access was amazing. The pools were nice, cracked a little, but still well maintained. The only "complaints" would be that the wireless internet would not work in our room and the AC was load. However, the positives far out weighed any negative. Are looking to go back in the next few months.

This is a high end luxury hotel. Accommodations were excellent. The staff was very friendly. We loved having access to both the pool and the beach. The room had everything we could have wanted except a microwave oven. Live music at the pool was a great addition to our experience. The property is centrally located for enjoying the area. Only a couple of things that could be improved but that did not detract from an otherwise great experience. The water temperature of the hot tub was not hot enough and the hotel does not enforce its policy of not allowing children in the hot tub so kids of all ages are doing whatever they want in the water. We had the Mango BBQ chicken breast at the poolside restaurant. It was overpriced and not memorable. Finally, there are three pools but none of them are for adults only.

The heat did not work, despite numerous calls and visits by maintenance,it was lever fixed. They finally on lst night brought a space heater as we were leaving for dinner. Came back that night, the space heater did not work either. I am sure the records are in my record as I reviewed this with them each time I called. Room temperature was 64DEGREES? They offered to move us on second day, but we didn't want the hassle, assuming they would/could fix it.

I can not say enough about this hotel. We were upgraded upon checking in without my even asking. They put us in a ocean view 5th floor room. The room was immaculate, housekeeping was timely. Every staff on the property was smiling and eager to help. Service was impeccable. Food at Ocean's was excellent. Our server there acted like he had never sold a bottle of Moet before, but that's ok. I will surely be back. Can't wait to see it after the renovation. Splendid property.

My family's stay at this hotel exceeded our expectations and plan on coming back. Here are some key highlights which made our stay memorable:
1. Exceptional service from valet, front desk, room service, pool attendants, and restaurant staff
2. Clean Rooms
3. Close proximity to the beach and swimming pools were very clean
This is the first time in a long time that our family had truly enjoyed their stay. We have recommended this place with our family and friends.

Despite the reviews we saw online about this hotel, I spoke to a rep at the hotel and my family decided to stay here for our vacation. The rep painted a better picture of the hotel than we experienced when we arrived and in other areas hit the nail on the head in his description. I've never been to a Westin in such disrepair. Since we were using points, we were able to dec recrease the cost per night because of these issues but still felt we paid more than it was worth. Needing 2 rooms, we had to pay the resort fee ($18) for both rooms for the week. $36 a day for such a run down Westin is alot to pay. In my opinion you should offer spg members a discount for next spring when the hotel looks like it can truely be called a Westin and the resort fee is worth paying. All the negative reviews I read before we went were true.

I spent three days/ two nights enjoying the Westin Resort as part of a business trip. Althpugh the weather didn't allow swimming, the view is gorgeous both at the Resort and in the nearby community. The gym exceeded my expectations and was well equipped. The grounds are beautiful, although the staff wasn't overly friendly or helpful. Finally, be prepared to bring your own food - the restaurant is expensive!

We were guests for a three night stay. we did not have a microwave in room, Pool was outside and cold, no towels available if needed.
Hallways were dirty and carpets coming up, granddaughter tripped over carpet on way to room several times.
coffee avaiable to room, but not tea.
Maintenance was very proactive, assisted in maintaining my food I had purchased
Housekeeping was very attentive towards us, front desk not so much

Not quite up to expectations, room was OK but had to walk through service hallways to get to meeting rooms, hotel restaurant not quite up to expectations and one restaurant closed. Construction noise started early on Sat AM and we had to walk through dust on floors from elevators to our room. Hot water was less than hot just luke warm even when only on hot. Two lamps in our room did not work.

We have stayed at the Westin HHI many times and always have a good experience. This time we were upgraded to a suite and it was a very nice room/s. I was glad to see that renovations are underway as the hotel does show a little wear and would have liked to view the model rooms which was offered at check in. However, when we twice asked to see them; no one at the front desk could produce a key. One would think that the keycard machine could make one.

Overall, we had a nice time for a quick getaway for my family of five (sons aged 5, 3, and 1). The room was very comfortable and with more square footage than I thought. I didn't get the feel of us being on top of one another because of the size. The "Heavenly" beds were AWESOME!! I think the beds were the cause of the older sons "sleeping in" for an additional 1.5 hours at a time they are usually up!! Like always, we travel with a Pack-N-Play to use as my toddler's bed. Unfortunately, I failed to pack a comforter to make it more comfortable, so I decided to borrow one from the hotel. The first one delivered to me was disgusting and filled with interior mold. YUCK!! I was brought two more: one was perfect and the other was a repeat of the first. FYI...hold linens over a lamp to inspect closely. In the end, we will stay here again.

The beach was great as we had ample beach space where we were located. Further down the beach it looked more crowded. The pools at the resort were nice as one of them is well covered from the sun but very open. Nice fitness center and easy up front parking. The only long walk was from the front desk to our room. To get to the car we had to go past the front desk so this made for quit a long walk a few time during the day. Overall the walk was worth it.

My wife was very happy with the accommodations, staff and service staff. The bathroom was very spacious and clean, which is a pet peeve for my wife, which was a plus. Our room was cleaned each day with no complaints. Calling room service for extra coffee was welcomed with a warm voice which was very pleasing. Our expectations were exceeded with this stay and will be back for the grand opening of the renovated wing. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

I had a wonderful experience at the
The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort. The staff was very courteous and the perks for a platinum member were plentiful. The only downside to this hotel is that the room was not in great condition. The water in the shower ran yellow for a few minutes each time it was turned on and there were some large cracks in the walls and other surfaces. Even with the room needing some updating, it was still a wonderful experience.

I was disappointed in my recent stay because of the rundown condition of the room and bathroom. Also, the elevators are an extremely long walk from the front desk and then once you get to the floor, you have to then travel half the distance back to your room. I understand the hotel is now undergoing renovations in some portions of the complex with an April 2013 completion date. The front desk also said additional elevators have been discussed.

The room had a broken fridge, no ligh bulbs in the night table lamps, the safe was broken, no towels , soap, etc. The rollaway that we requested arrived very late. After Imy complaint we got moved to a different room, The manager assured us that everything thing was working this time. We had to wait until 1:00 AM to get a rollaway. Very poor service, the carpets on the corridors had a very bad odor and was dirty.
I will not recommend this hotel.

We found the music playing outside and
around the swimming pool way too loud
and crummy for listening to. The
housekeeping staff put our thermostat
up to 80 degrees and it felt like an oven.
That is costly for you....first you heat the
room and then we had to cool it down.
They also failed to leave us glasses for
drinking. And the bed was made poorly.
HHI needs a really nice, upscale hotel
and so far we haven't found one there.

Veryyyy displeased with our initial room. As soon as you walked in, you could smell mildew. We had to move to a new room. Very old rooms, carpet, etc. No frills in room with any amenities (no shower cap, no shoe shine, no glass drinking glasses in bathroom, etc.) Front desk blamed condition on old mgmt company went bankrupt and hotel is 25 y/o!?? Elevators tooo far away. Ready for complete renovation. Won't be back until complete.

Like the room at Hilton Head Island, but when we tried to check out there was a $400 error on our bill which took 25 minute to resove. When I get home they e-mail me the bill and the charge is back on again. If I have to spend more time correcting there error I WILL NOT BE HAPPY.
