Rated 4 out of 5 by The renovations are of Westin quality. Location is outstanding right off the beach. The complete renovation of the property makes it very updated & comfortable. The workout room is well equipped & maintained. The pool area is nice & offers several options for personal needs, i.e. shaded pool, smaller pool for kids, and very large pool for adults.Service staff was warm, friendly & helpful. We prefer leaving the sliding door open for fresh air, but the lack of a screen only invited bugs to fly in. Complimentary shuttle was offered, but unfortunately the "mall" has been torn down & only the harbor & golf courses are on the route now. If you don't have a car, guests can bike to nearby grocery stores & restaurants. May 15, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Remarkable Staff/Service The staff at this hotel are exceptional. They are knowledgeable, polite and are absolutely sincere when they request that you let them know if there is anything they can do to make your stay more enjoyable. May 20, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Msss Rates don't need to be so high or give better incentive discounts when asked...they charged me $1.08 for a small apple when fruit and refreshing water is free to guests at smaller scale hotels/server put out when asked for refill on coffee/ also did not appreciate $15 handling fee for sending golf clubs when I did all the processing, then I tipped someone to move them in the car without knowing about that charge so now we're at $20 / couldn't use a beach chair more charges ! Rated 4 out of 5 by Clean This hotel was very clean. I was bummed there was no store yet because I left home without face wash or lotion, assuming that a beach island would have plenty of areas for me to grab some. It seems like this hotel is by the golf courses, and has its own private beach entrance, but it is a very secluded beach area. It was not what I was hoping for on my honeymoon. We had to go down to a much farther area to find more people hanging out at the beach. I also told them it was our honeymoon and they did nothing even though my friends have always told me SPG will either give food vouchers, strawberries, or a better room. I was happy to be on the SPG floor, however. I liked the bathroom and the shower. Our window view was a bunch of trees, so it seemed a little anti climatic. All the rooms are noisy and you can hear someone from another room closing and opening their bathroom door, talking, anything. Luckily I don't think the hotel was very busy during our stay. Loved the luggage closet. We were able to check out but come back for our luggage when our taxi service came to pick us up. There were lots of pools and no one was really in them. That's a plus, since hotel photos of pools show a desolate pool area but the reality is a sardine can. May 6, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice Renovations I had read some mixed reviews of this property, but then I read that the hotel would be done with the renovations by May. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The upgrades were well done and the hotel almost looks brand new. Our room was well appointed and very clean. Maid service was also very good. Two issues - there aren't enough activities on the resort and there is a $20/day resort fee! There are no tennis courts, basketball court or golf course. It had great access to a nice well kept beach and the pools were very well maintained and not at all dirty. But that was about all there was to do there. The other issue seems to be staffing. They are either very busy in mid-May, transitioning to a summer staff or they are just understaffed. I have a feeling Hilton Head Island has a small workforce so maybe there isn't much they can do about it. May 15, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Check in Girl The young lady that check us in, Kendal, was very attentive. I slightly mentioned that 27 years ago my wife and I celebrated our rehersal dinner at the hotel. On one of the nights, we stayed there this trip, a bucket of champange and chocolate strawberries were delivered with a nice note attached. Things like this are the reasons I prefer Westin Hotels. Thank you, Kendal January 13, 2012
