Rated 3 out of 5 by Good room, expensive food I arrived on a late flight after 11p. The staff are clearly not trained on how to handle tired travelers. There was no food available in the area and the hotel offered me a bowl of soup, water and a brownie. CAD $40.00. Serious? CAD $40.00 April 2, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Business Meeting Couple of comments. Heater in the room when it came on started with a bang and then the loud fan. If my wife was with me it would have bothered her. Second, no real curtians but blinds. Through the night the room was never totally dark, that should be up to the guest to decide how dark they want their room March 13, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Major Changes are Needed We're back for another Convention, and things need to change at this hotel. At the Convention rate of $160.00+tax+$29 for parking (wasn't paying $39 for valet), you'd think you would at least get some free internet, (nevermind using the phone in the room for $1.50/local call). I could NOT believe the light switches in the bathroom!! They were absolutely disgusting (I took a couple pics to show). If you're planning to stay, make sure you bring a flashlight so you can wash your hands and don't have to touch the switch when you're done, or just for some extra light in the washroom to get ready or in the main room. Not sure where they're buying their light bulbs from. And, the TV would keep cutting in and out. Really?? Think twice before booking here. March 6, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by He will never notice..... It pains me every time I stay at the Westin Edmonton, being the only SPG hotel downtown I reluctantly ciome back to maintain my Platinum status. I applaud them for finally upgrading there rooms. No longer are they dark dingy and rundown. Applause! Now on my last stay I experienced for the first time ever a bed that had either been made with the wrong size sheet or was turned sideways. Everything looked good until I climed into bed and something did not feel right on my feet. I pulled back the covers to find that the sheet stopped 18 inches from the bottom of the bed. My feet were on the mattress cover. I cant fathom how any houskeeping staff thought this was acceptable. Not only is it unhygenic, its just down right wierd. I put this in my after stay survey, and of course have never had a follow up which is par for the course for this hotel. At $314 night I expect Luxury not a half made bed. This week I will be at the Four Points Sheraton South Side and will pay for parking downtown. Its cheaper and I will likely have two full size sheets on my bed. March 6, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by could be better I love Westin hotels but I found this to be a bit overrated. You had to pay additional fees for everything, including internet. I asked a front desk member for directions to a good place to he and he said he 'wasn't sure'. The rooms could use some updating. Gym was nice and looked at the pool. January 27, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good to be back It was nice to be back at the Westin and see that there has been improvements around the hotel and with the guest experience in general. Front desk team made possible to accommodate me and my family in our preferred rooms and meeting our expectations. Platinum breakfast welcome amenity was an excellent choice and paying the small difference for the full-buffet definitely is worth it. I still hope one day The Westin Edmonton will have an executive or club lounge, which will definitely be a surplus in our hotel experience. January 20, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by A mixed experience This was a 3 night stay for a wedding. We were able to use a Suite Nights Award for a Junior Suite in a refurbished wing of the hotel. The general Manager had provided a welcome package of a half bottle of sparkling wine and some treats. Very nice, and much appreciated. Things were going quite well until 12:50am on the first night. At that time my wife heard what she thought was running water in the bathroom. On checking she found water coming in through the ceiling over the bathtub/shower. It was coming in through both a light fixture and a service panel. The water hit a very large showerhead and was splashing all over the bathroom floor. My main concern was the water coming in through the electrical system (light fixture). A call to the front desk eventually led to 2 staff members coming up to the room to inspect. I was told that there were no maintenance staff available until 7am and they could not open the service panel themselves. I did get them, somewhat reluctantly, to check with guest on floor above since the water appeared to be coming from that floor. The guest claimed that they had not used their shower in a number of hours but the Westin staff were not able to check. A room change was offered but we decided to stay in room rather than repack the contents of 3 suitcases. The water leak continued, although at a reduced rate, and eventually stopped at about 4am. I question the rationale of not having maintenance staff on-site for a 9-hour period. In this case there was possible infrastructure damage as well as the safety hazard (water + electricity). The next morning when I woke up, I decided to make coffee. All creamers were expired and curdled when put in the hot coffee. Breakfast in the morning, and the next 2 mornings was very good. Servicing of the room the next day was somewhat lacking. The sheets were not changed and some of the pillows were not put back on the bed. Also some of the toiletries were not replaced. This was remedied on the next day. WE had no further problems with the room which was spacious and nicely decorated. We got extra Starpoints for the inconveniences. If it wasn't for that first night, we would have had a great stay. January 4, 2015
