Rated 5 out of 5 by jorchm Good to be back
It was nice to be back at the Westin and see that there has been improvements around the hotel and with the guest experience in general. Front desk team made possible to accommodate me and my family in our preferred rooms and meeting our expectations. Platinum breakfast welcome amenity was an excellent choice and paying the small difference for the full-buffet definitely is worth it. I still hope one day The Westin Edmonton will have an executive or club lounge, which will definitely be a surplus in our hotel experience.

Much thanks again to the people at the Westin - Edmonton. Just had the most wonderful stay,,, again....
I appreciate the consistent experience at this downtown hotel. My colleagues and I feel so welcomed - from the check in, breakfast with my favorite servers (thanks Megan!)... and great drinks and meals in the bar area each evening. Special shout out to Jenielle and Curtis for the dinner and drinks this evening. I know we ordered some 'off the menu' items -- and you all delivered our meals as requested, and with a heart-warming smile.
Finally - Thanks Nella,,, you're such a great friend and concierge. We don't know what we'd do without you!!!
See you all in 2 weeks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jimtraveller A fantastic stay (5 out of 5)
I arrived early in the hotel around 10:30am, and the staff was able to check me in early to a spacious room where I can start some of my work for three of my conference calls in the afternoon. Internet is a bit glitchy but tolerable.
The birth year rate was great. The paper bill did not reflect that, and the front desk person was able to correct that.
The breakfast was in atrium lobby which was a great ambience. I talked to a wait staff whom I have not seen almost 8 years, and she remembered me. Very much a feeling just like coming home.
The in-room dining experience was great as well, always delivered within 30 minutes while I was working away in the room.
Great location, steps away from Shaw Conference Centre where I went for my conference, and then steps away from Edmonton City Centre, where I went to see Avengers movie in 3D in the evening. On the way back to the hotel, I also shopped at Winners and Bay for some cloths.
So great location, great staff and excellent hotel!

Rated 5 out of 5 by KurtH Another Wonderful Stay...
It's difficult to put into words just how wonderful this Starwood Property is... Not only is the Hotel modern and well-kept, but the Staff gives it an A+ on my scorecard.I have never felt more welcomed and valued as a customer -- I could name so very many names... starting off with Nella -- my all time favorite Guest Experience Manager. She not only takes care of little things that I wouldn't expect, she's become a good friend over the past year. Some of my favorite 'morning servers' include Zeny & Pinky. They are lovely people who make your day start off so well.I so look forward to my stays at the Westin Edmonton. Thanks so much from this weary business traveler!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Fellowrunner Friendly staff
Great hotel, friendly staff, overall a good experience. I was disappointed that although I paid the $28 for the parkade earlier, the lot became full while I was out later that evening and I wasn't allowed re-entry. I was directed to park in the overflow, at the back of the building but being very late (and cold) I expressed my safety concerns. So they sent a doorman to greet and direct me. He was very nice and helpful, and even found a spot for me inside the parkade. Later, from my room, I ordered late night dining and it arrived quickly (delivered by that very same friendly doorman I might add!) and was fresh and delicious. I was greatful that my needs were met with such great service even at such late an hour.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Trisha20 Would never return
Let's start with the good - the hotel is very central downtown. Great location for anyone attending an event at the Shaw Conference Centre.
The bad - the parking cost was astronomical ($30/night). The underground door would not open after the first night so we had to park outside. For $30/night I would have appreciated underground access. The internet was also another charge per day. I haven't stayed in a hotel that charged for internet since the 1990s. The room was cold and despite cranking the heat, it never warmed up. Neither did the shower. Max heat was minimal heat that cooled down after 2 minutes. The access cards were hit and miss in the elevators and everyone was having problems. It took multiple swipes and multiple cards to even get access to our floor. I had to take the stairs every morning due to many people trying to leave and elevators being extremely slow/full. I have no problem with that but upon exiting on the lobby level, I had to walk through a staff area to get back to the lobby. That was awkward but I was okay with it until I received a dirty look from a staff member. Sorry staff - I waited 15 minutes for the elevator with no luck. Thank goodness I don't have a disability that prevents me from taking the stairs. Also, one of our blankets had a questionable stain on it. We tossed it aside for the duration of our stay. This is being overly picky but my last name was also mangled.
I would recommend avoiding this hotel. There are plenty of other hotels within walking distance that offer free parking and free internet. Westin, please stop ripping off your guests.

Rated 3 out of 5 by DON43 A mixed experience
This was a 3 night stay for a wedding. We were able to use a Suite Nights Award for a Junior Suite in a refurbished wing of the hotel. The general Manager had provided a welcome package of a half bottle of sparkling wine and some treats. Very nice, and much appreciated. Things were going quite well until 12:50am on the first night. At that time my wife heard what she thought was running water in the bathroom. On checking she found water coming in through the ceiling over the bathtub/shower. It was coming in through both a light fixture and a service panel. The water hit a very large showerhead and was splashing all over the bathroom floor. My main concern was the water coming in through the electrical system (light fixture). A call to the front desk eventually led to 2 staff members coming up to the room to inspect. I was told that there were no maintenance staff available until 7am and they could not open the service panel themselves. I did get them, somewhat reluctantly, to check with guest on floor above since the water appeared to be coming from that floor. The guest claimed that they had not used their shower in a number of hours but the Westin staff were not able to check. A room change was offered but we decided to stay in room rather than repack the contents of 3 suitcases. The water leak continued, although at a reduced rate, and eventually stopped at about 4am. I question the rationale of not having maintenance staff on-site for a 9-hour period. In this case there was possible infrastructure damage as well as the safety hazard (water + electricity). The next morning when I woke up, I decided to make coffee. All creamers were expired and curdled when put in the hot coffee. Breakfast in the morning, and the next 2 mornings was very good. Servicing of the room the next day was somewhat lacking. The sheets were not changed and some of the pillows were not put back on the bed. Also some of the toiletries were not replaced. This was remedied on the next day. WE had no further problems with the room which was spacious and nicely decorated. We got extra Starpoints for the inconveniences. If it wasn't for that first night, we would have had a great stay.

I am a very frequent traveler, and this hotel truly stands above almost any other hotel I have frequented.
They consistently recognize me, have me in a great room, and also provide special treats to let me know they appreciate our business.
If ever I have a problem with anything, it is always very quickly resolved with great attitudes.
