The Westin Bayshore is well-situatuated, the staff are friendly and welcoming and the beds are comfortable.
The $15 per day per device fees charged for internet access I found dated, unwelcoming and inconvenient. This is a conference hotel, there will be many people who are visitng on business and need to keep up with email. Overseas visitors (whose smart phones are not networked to a mobile provider ) are particularly affected.
On top of a reasonably expensive room I paid 5 days of internet access. When we asked the conference organsiers about a login, they reporte that the internet charges were probitively high and not affordable within the conference budget.
The net result is that guests feel exploited. The additional cost tot he hotel of guests making use of wifi internet is minimal - and yet the charges are high. So we feel cheated. which undermines all other efforts to make guests feel welcome.
I should finish by noting that in a limited area of the lobby free internet access is available but it is not useful for those who need more to work - although probably sufficient for a holiday maker needing to check email quickly.

The shower area in Jr. Suite to small.. All other room area just fine! Be sure to request view if available! Beautiful facing harbor and mountains.

The hotel is wonderful. Beautifully appointed, clean, and very up-scale. All-around nice. It's location is superb, close to everything of interest in Vancouver with a few very nice restaurants within a short walk. The only negative is the parking situation. The parking garages are separately operated, and there is very poor communication between the hotel and the garage..... so you are basically on your own, and the fees are outrageous for a self-park facility. I was overcharged by the garage after being told by the garage attendant that I needed to pay them first, and then take my receipt to the hotel to be "credited" and to receive a hotel "parking pass" which would allow me to stay additional time (very confusing). When I approached the hotel guest receptionist with my receipt from the parking garage, she basically told me that she couldn't give me a parking pass unless I then paid her (thus paying twice, which would be $72!). I was a bit irrate. The hotel receptionist was not the least bit helpful or accomodating. If I had the time and inclination, I would have spoken directly to the hotel manager. This should not happen to guests at such a nice place.

This is clearly a property which takes pride in its quality. I'll take this opportunity to point out a few minor glitches that I experienced.
- We appreciated the crib and bag of treats for our infant however it would have been very beneficial to us if the hotel offered a small baby tub for our youngest. Large showers and infants are a dangerous combination.
- The rental movies in our suite were continually flashing to black and then returning to our movies.
- While checking out I let the gentleman at the luggage desk know that we would require a luggage cart to our room and even offered to bring it up myself, as we had a ferry to catch. I was told that we would have one in five minutes. I took our children and got our vehicle from the parking garage. We waited in the car for 15-20 minutes only to see my wife lugging two heavy suitcases, a diaper bag, a laptop bag, and her purse out of the hotel and towards our car. Apparently she was tired of waiting. I understand that this is a busy time for the bellmen which is why I offered to bring my own cart up to the room. I feel like sometimes, when things are busy, guests could be allowed a degree of self-sufficiency at the cost of a potential tip.
