Rated 3 out of 5 by The ceiling fell down It was a very wet and wild night. The rain apparently backed up under the roof and poured through the ceiling in my room 1115 Westin Nova Scotian. It was messy and wet. No one seemed interested until I spoke with the manager who was concerned and reversed charges on my breakfast and valet parking. But I wtill paid for a room with a ceiling that fell down, Not pleasant! February 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Staff! We stay at the Westin whenever we need to travel to the IWK Children's Hospital with our son. Each and every time we have stayed at the Westin we have received excellent support and service from every member of the staff. Everyone is so helpful and understanding. It has made our trips less stressful. The fact that this hotel is so close to the hospital and the Superstore are added bonuses for us travel-weary parents. July 25, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Comfort and Convenience The rooms are very comfortable, great view on the harbour side and lots of fabulous restaurants in walking distance...Cafe Chianti, super delicious and awesome service. I love the distance to the farmers market as well! The cable reception in the room seemed a bit off and fuzzy while watching tv. March 9, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Generally, a fine hotel This hotel has many amenities, though I can only comment on the ones I used. Appreciated the access to wireless Internet. Restaurant food and service are quite exceptional in quality and friendliness. The restaurant and the front desk staff all gave exceptional service. Parking is difficult for mobility impaired- poor signage at street and back entrance - not easily visible from all access points. Level of lighting in room far too low for average person. There was a problem with the bedside lights. The bed bumped the power bar so the lights kept going on and off. Chamber maid said, "we'll, that's how it is". The so called "green choice" needs to be better explained to room cleaning staff. Ours seemed to think that just because we elected to keep our bedding over two days, that meant they did not even have to enter the room to tidy the bed, or give us clean glasses in the room or bathroom. Rated 5 out of 5 beautiful hotel Stayed a total of two nights at The Westin. This hotel had charm and elegance. The room was large, clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel offered all the amenities including Yuk Yuks. We walked downtown and it only took 10 mins. The boardwalk was also right there and was a easy stroll to everything. The front desk and front door staff were very friendly. I would stay there again and again. July 28, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by poor room I have stayed at this hotel before and had a beautiful room.This room was unsatisfactory.the bathroom was so small only 1 small person at a time could be in the room.The sink would not drain.no fan,.there was a patch on the carpet. The bedroom light fixture rattled when people walked in the room above.very loud room.Plus I payed more than 150 /night. Not pleased with my room... November 5, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice Hotel Hotel very nice, staff very friendly and very helpful. My only complaint would be the odd smell in my room. When I first walked in there a definite moldy smell in the room and a great deal of condensation on the windows. I opened the window and it dissipated a bit. Otherwise the room was very nice. Very comfortable bed with fantastic linen and an exceptionally clean bathroom. May 18, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by I love this hotel This is my home away from home. However, the recent departure of the hotel's only shop to pick up items such as snacks, toiletries and gifts is very negative. It was the only place to get snacks other than the very expensive mini bar. There are no vending machines either. The prices in the mini bar are outlandish and you have no idea how long the products are there. October 31, 2013

The food in the bar and restaurant facilities is fantastic. You know that the Westin Halifax is going to be an outstanding experience when you first arrive and the door men open your car door. Rated 5 out of 5 by Workout Heaven I used a soggy day in Halifax staying at the Westin Nova Scotian to get into shape. The hotel supplied New Balence running shoes and a stylish gym outfit combined with a newly renovated fitness room to help me get into shape!!! Finished off the session with a few laps around the pool and dip in the hot tub. Can't get a better deal in any other hotel in Halifax. June 16, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Old Faithful You can count on Westin for service as always, the hotel could use some upgrading of the elevators though, they are pretty slow. Food at the restaurant is very good and so is the service, more restaurants in the area make it a even better location than we remembered from the last time we were there. I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay there again. September 8, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Location and staff My wife and I were on an "anniversary" getaway and after a long drive we looked forward to a relaxing stay. The hotel by the bay, the warm and helpful staff, the comfortable room, were all part of a great experience. There were also many interesting sights, attractions, parks, and restaurants all within a short walking distance. we will recommend to friends. May 2, 2013

Only one issue which i felt was purely a mistake on them was they had forgot to take some dirty cutlery and forgot to replace the coffee pouches that we had used that morning. Other then that the view was awesome, the staff was excellent and the facility was very well maintained...havea great trip! July 24, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Westin Nova Scotia Hotel is a bit run down but everyone who worked there could not be nicer. It was great to have a tennis court to play on , but were lent old, dead tennis balls unfortunately. Hallways smelled musty probably due to the building itself and not because the staff didn't clean it well. Overall, the staff was really terrific, but the facility is old and faded. September 8, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Friendly and helpful staff We checked in to the Westin Nova Scotian on our first day as a married couple! The staff were brilliant and upgraded us to a beautiful suite with champagne in the room, a Jacuzzi and a rooftop balcony overlooking the sunset and Halifax skyline. It was a wonderful way to decompress after a whirlwind week in the Maritimes. We will be back many more times! July 24, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Trip to Halifax Great hotel, worth an upgrade to harbor view to watch cruise ships dock a yr window. Wonderful staff, elements restaurant very good, bent over backwards to gets overhung specific to our tastes. Have been SPGS member for many years and never been invited to are citation breakfast where staff spent time to tak with you. Very nice. Rooms smal but wel done. June 21, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Don't judge a book by its cover Imagine checking in to a Westin and being given a room with only a pull-out couch bed. Yes, welcome to Halifax. clogged toilet drains and a bathroom that smell liked it hadn't seen Clorox in a while. Walls are so thin that I had to endure athletic honeymooners on one side and a snoring gentleman on the other. I could go on, but you get the point. May 30, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Blue collar haven This hotel wants to be more than it is but what it is and what it will always be is an old tourist-class hotel. It has undergone obvious renovations but the rooms remain small, the air conditioning/heating is antiquated (although the windows open which is nice!) and the service at the front desk is as it has always been - understaffed and slow. Rated 4 out of 5 by Wonderful, but noisy This is a wonderful hotel in a great location with fantastic views. The only issue is the noise from the equipment systems outside. My room was a harbor view, which was beautiful. You could hear the noise and not open the window due to the noise from the outside equipment. It's a shame to have such beautiful rooms and views ruined by noise. September 14, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not my best stay Room service dishes sat in the hall beside my room all afternoon and were still there next day at noon. Had a great harbourview room, but the windows are so old and stained that the view was ruined by stains embedded in the glass. Hand sanitizer by elevator was empty the whole visit, and only one elevator was working. Nice Breakfast buffet. July 2, 2013

Staff always remember you and go the extra mile to streamline your check-in or departure. I've probably logged over 1000 nights now in 8 years in many hotels, this property is one of the ones i'm always delighted to stay at. May 27, 2013

The staff are fantastic, the service is top-notch, and the room itself was clean, cozy, modern, and luxurious. I had two great sleeps, three great meals, and overall an incredible stay in Halifax. Thank you to the Westin for always exceeding my expectations!!! March 24, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Below Westin reputation Although the hotel was full with events - my room was not as reserved. We reserved 3 months early and called to confirm late check in. Did not have two beds as requested and windows did not open as advertised. My room had a huge fan outside and was very noisy. The bath had no shower cap. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Rated 4 out of 5 by Comfortable The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is convenient to shops and restaurants. The website says that they have a downtown shuttle service but that wasn't the case. There is a taxi stand right next to the hotel and it is right next to the via rail station. It is very quiet at night. The bed was very comfortable. September 7, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Wonderful stay It was perfect, however, the smell of laundry detergent? or softener? was very strong. As someone who appreciates no scent I always struggle with this aspect and will usually bring my own pillow. However, this time it was forgotten and so i ended up with signifcant sinus issues.. any chance of going scent free in your linens? June 18, 2013

There were water stains on the ceiling (we were on the 10th floor), the window hardware was broken (so the window did not close properly and we were unable to lock it), the baseboard was pulled away from the wall or missing entirely in places. This was not the quality that I expected from a Westin. May 9, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Honeymoon. I have to admit that I was a little dissapointed in our stay. Coming from the Westin Harboucastle to here, I did notice a difference. My wife and I were on our honeymoon and felt our experience was a little lackluster. Overall a nice hotel, did find the walls a little thin and could hear our neighbor on many occasions. Rated 2 out of 5 by this hotel needs renovation I stayed at room 456, for the price of $200 a night I expect cleanliness through out the room. The toilet bowl was stained and aged, public washroom has a better toilet bowl. My kids don't even want to use the toilet, The only good thing is the location, the boardwalk was the best thing from staying from this hotel. July 14, 2013

A beautiful place right in the heart of downtown Halifax with access to all amenities. Proximity to the Boardwalk and all the nice restaurants is fantastic. Rated 5 out of 5 by Welcoming Stayed 3 nights, travelling with small dog. Cornwallis park and grass across the street for pooch. Room located on a wing off the main hallway, this was good and minimized noises for pooch who may react to sound. Overall, a good size room with windows that open plus one in bathroom. Second night noisy at 3:30 a.m. with drunk female partier screaming at top of voice for five minutes or so, this was addressed immediately and we were comp'd for a sleepless night. Room was clean, fluffy towels for four, Starbucks coffee in room and mini-bar. A number of parking options available at hotel. We opted for street parking, either at meters or free. Also, Saturday and Sunday parking is free at meters. All hotel staff engaged with were pleasant, courteous, engaging and helpful. We did eat at Elements for Sunday breakfast and had the hot breakfast buffet which had variety with plenty of hot and cold foods along with an omelet grill. No issue to stay here again, with or without pooch. October 7, 2013
