Rated 5 out of 5 by beautiful hotel Stayed a total of two nights at The Westin. This hotel had charm and elegance. The room was large, clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel offered all the amenities including Yuk Yuks. We walked downtown and it only took 10 mins. The boardwalk was also right there and was a easy stroll to everything. The front desk and front door staff were very friendly. I would stay there again and again. July 28, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Disappointed I have stayed here a few times over the past 12 months, and was always very pleased. This time when I arrived very late, due to an unforeseen flight delay, the person at the front desk, did not have the type of room I had prepaid for??? and when I got to my room, the bed certainly did not seem like the "heavenly bed" I am used to, nor were the pillows very new (they were lumpy). The overall room (#719) was clean, but tired, and the lighting is still poor in all rooms in this hotel July 26, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Staff! We stay at the Westin whenever we need to travel to the IWK Children's Hospital with our son. Each and every time we have stayed at the Westin we have received excellent support and service from every member of the staff. Everyone is so helpful and understanding. It has made our trips less stressful. The fact that this hotel is so close to the hospital and the Superstore are added bonuses for us travel-weary parents. July 25, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Friendly and helpful staff We checked in to the Westin Nova Scotian on our first day as a married couple! The staff were brilliant and upgraded us to a beautiful suite with champagne in the room, a Jacuzzi and a rooftop balcony overlooking the sunset and Halifax skyline. It was a wonderful way to decompress after a whirlwind week in the Maritimes. We will be back many more times! July 24, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by great staystay Had a great time at the Westin. Would recommend big time. Only one issue which i felt was purely a mistake on them was they had forgot to take some dirty cutlery and forgot to replace the coffee pouches that we had used that morning. Other then that the view was awesome, the staff was excellent and the facility was very well maintained...havea great trip! July 24, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by First visit to Halifax I was recommended by my good friend to stay at Westin Nova Scotian. Since I've never been to Halifax or Nova Scotia in general, I decided to make my reservation at Westin. I requested a room with a view and did get a gorgeous view. Everything was going well except my last night stay. Was woken up by couple of people running,slamming door and yelling in the hallway. All these happened past midnight. Overall, I did enjoy visiting Halifax and will definitely stay at Westin Nova Scotian in the future. Pros: walking distance to the boardwalk and seaport. All amenities within reach Cons: staff seem not very knowledgable about restaurant suggestion. I.e. restaurant that has live music...etc. July 21, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Room 233 - July 12-14, 2013 Good afternoon, I was not disappointed with the overall experience of the Westin Hotel and I would stay there again. The room, specifically 233, smelled musty, albeit clean. Everytime I entered the room, I said, 'the room still smells'. I mentioned this to the front desk manager who was very sorry for this experience and credited starwood points back to my account. Because we only stayed two nights, I didn't think it necessary to move rooms. My concern was handled very promptly by the manager. July 16, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by this hotel has The Best Staff but small room The staff were great . They answered every little and big questions we had about the city even gave us a printed map showing us how to find our daughters street and helped us get internet , ice , finding our car (no matter how many times we asked for our keys to get something out of it) The room was clean and I loved the safe we used it for our phones and wallets instead of taking them to the concert but boy it was small which might of been good as we lost nothing the next morning The overall was great .. we enjoyed the Rush Concert and was so pleased your hotel had room for us as we only booked the room that week Monday 8th or Tuesday 9th Thanks again .. I just wished we would of remembered the young man that helped us with our car ( it was a rental and we seem to need our keys alot ) Thanks Guys July 15, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by this hotel needs renovation I stayed at room 456, for the price of $200 a night I expect cleanliness through out the room. The toilet bowl was stained and aged, public washroom has a better toilet bowl. My kids don't even want to use the toilet, The only good thing is the location, the boardwalk was the best thing from staying from this hotel. July 14, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Reservations I recommend that guests DO NOT opt for non refundable, prepaid bookings. Unlike major competitors, this is not the best rate. When I called the hotel to change another open reservation, I expressed my unhappiness at the significant drop in rates compared to what I had paid for my second reservation. I did not expect a price reduction, but the offer of perks (breakfast, meal voucher, upgrade, points etc.) to assuage my feelings of been taken, scammed or whatever were not forthcoming. Simply, " we have many promotions, that is what you chose and have a nice day. " Too bad, so sad. Indeed I will have a nice day; it was my bad and I am sure both my forthcoming stays will be pleasant. However, on that note I do want to share me prepaid experience at the Westin with others. I would have expected the rooms to be bigger, but they were in the vicinity of New York standard sized room. Parking was pricy ($18 for self park) for Halifax standards. Overall a fair experience. Rated 3 out of 5 by Not my best stay Room service dishes sat in the hall beside my room all afternoon and were still there next day at noon. Had a great harbourview room, but the windows are so old and stained that the view was ruined by stains embedded in the glass. Hand sanitizer by elevator was empty the whole visit, and only one elevator was working. Nice Breakfast buffet. July 2, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by GREAT STAY - with close amenities Stayed 7 days for a National conference 200+ attendees. The conference facilities were great, with internet, the TECH CREW on site were quick to solve any issues or changes. Rooms were great, large washrooms given this hotel was build in1917. 24hour grocery strore next to hotel with a beer and liquor store. The hotel night desk staff were very patient with our late events and early morning activites. Thank you for understanding and working with us! June 27, 2013

Rated 4 out of 5 by Trip to Halifax Great hotel, worth an upgrade to harbor view to watch cruise ships dock a yr window. Wonderful staff, elements restaurant very good, bent over backwards to gets overhung specific to our tastes. Have been SPGS member for many years and never been invited to are citation breakfast where staff spent time to tak with you. Very nice. Rooms smal but wel done. June 21, 2013

Rated 4 out of 5 by Wonderful stay It was perfect, however, the smell of laundry detergent? or softener? was very strong. As someone who appreciates no scent I always struggle with this aspect and will usually bring my own pillow. However, this time it was forgotten and so i ended up with signifcant sinus issues.. any chance of going scent free in your linens? June 18, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Workout Heaven I used a soggy day in Halifax staying at the Westin Nova Scotian to get into shape. The hotel supplied New Balence running shoes and a stylish gym outfit combined with a newly renovated fitness room to help me get into shape!!! Finished off the session with a few laps around the pool and dip in the hot tub. Can't get a better deal in any other hotel in Halifax. June 16, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Don't judge a book by its cover Imagine checking in to a Westin and being given a room with only a pull-out couch bed. Yes, welcome to Halifax. clogged toilet drains and a bathroom that smell liked it hadn't seen Clorox in a while. Walls are so thin that I had to endure athletic honeymooners on one side and a snoring gentleman on the other. I could go on, but you get the point. May 30, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Terrible experience Took over 30mins to reserve a room, only to find out 2 days later that it was never done, spent over an hour on the phone with a rep, and upon check-in the next day found that there was still a problem with my reservation and it took over 30mins only for them to tell me they could not do anything. My SPG account balance has disappeared, apparently transfered to someone else without my authority. The sink and shower backed-up. This while I was in the shower. And while sitting outside there were rats. This is actually the 2nd time I stayed at the Westin in Halifax and the first time I had the EXACT same experience and problems. I only stayed here a 2nd time because I was attending a conference. I spoke to the manager and he said he would give me 3000 extra points, and rectify my SPG account issue. Never happened. I am extremely disappointed with my experience and do not feel that the severity of the condictions were taken into consideration. I travel frequently and have never experienced such conditions - even in smaller chains. May 30, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Hotel I asked for a room with a view - Westin delivered a king-sized bed on the 9th floor with a great view of the water. Clean room, comfortable bed, ample room for working and sitting, small but adequate flat screen tv and a functional bathroom. The fitness centre is a good size with new equipment - a very good set up for the average exerciser and adjacent to a pool and hot tub. You won't find a friendlier hotel staff, from the front door, to the desk, to the cleaning staff. Colleagues have dined at the Westin and said that the food was good. The hotel is in a wonderful location - close to Pier 21 and many, many good restaurants and pubs, and only 10-15 minutes walk from St. Mary's University. I will always stay at the Westin when I visit Halifax. May 29, 2013

Staff always remember you and go the extra mile to streamline your check-in or departure. I've probably logged over 1000 nights now in 8 years in many hotels, this property is one of the ones i'm always delighted to stay at. May 27, 2013
