We stayed at the Westin NS in July '12 as part of our 50th anniversary east coast trip. The requested harbour view room (717) was excellent and the surprise managers cheese tray gift was greatly appreciated. Elements restaurant breakfast was very good as well.

Hotel was conveniently located and the staff was very helpful. I would have expected the rooms to be bigger, but they were in the vicinity of New York standard sized room. Parking was pricy ($18 for self park) for Halifax standards. Overall a fair experience.

Took over 30mins to reserve a room, only to find out 2 days later that it was never done, spent over an hour on the phone with a rep, and upon check-in the next day found that there was still a problem with my reservation and it took over 30mins only for them to tell me they could not do anything. My SPG account balance has disappeared, apparently transfered to someone else without my authority. The sink and shower backed-up. This while I was in the shower. And while sitting outside there were rats. This is actually the 2nd time I stayed at the Westin in Halifax and the first time I had the EXACT same experience and problems. I only stayed here a 2nd time because I was attending a conference. I spoke to the manager and he said he would give me 3000 extra points, and rectify my SPG account issue. Never happened. I am extremely disappointed with my experience and do not feel that the severity of the condictions were taken into consideration. I travel frequently and have never experienced such conditions - even in smaller chains.

I think for price this hotel was great value. room was nice......very confortable bed.
walls little thin and the weding party next door was quite noicy at 10 and 3 am .
Little farther from down town than i expected but again like i said...

I was really excited to come stay at the hotel for New Years Eve. While my stay was excellent, a few things need improvment.
1. The pool was a joke, it shouldnt even be advertised as a pool but a big bath tub.
2. The rooms were really small
4. The buffet we had included in our package was ok, nothing to be excited over. some of the food was cold that was supposed to be hot .. not too impressed there
3. I had to pay with debit because i do not have a credit card i wanted to use for my room, therefore i had to pay the $200 upfront, which was O.K. ..
but when trying to check out we had to wait for our room to be checked for me to get my deposit back which the person told me would only be 5 minutes, which turned into an hour, and at that point the room had not even been checked yet when i asked a different receptionist about my issue, she told me she was so sorry for the wait, and the room was being checked at that moment. I was not impressed, waiting in the lobby for an hour, hungary and just wanting to get out of there, for nothing. .

We stayed for 3 nights in August and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Of all the Starwood Hotels, I prefer the "Westin" locations and this one didn't disappoint. I particularly enjoyed the live entertainment in the bar area during the early evening.

Hotel was very conveniently and centrally located to the Seaport area and many tourist sites. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Room was spacious and comfortable.
Only adverse comment, the room had a slight smell to it, reminding me of wet dog.

They checked us in quickly even though there was a big lineup as it was NYE. Happy about that. I do not like that the fridge is full of things to buy. I wanted to put my own drinks in it and had to empty it all out to do that. Water is $5.95 plus tax a bottle. A little extreme? We asked for a sewing kit as my friend had a hole in her dress (there were none in the room!). We were at the hotel for a wedding/NYE.. can not attend with a hole in your dress! They brought us something that had only 4 threads and a needle in it.. The needle was so tiny that the thread did not fit trough the hole in it. The thread was bigger than the needle hole. Three of us tried for an hour to get it in, but in the end we gave up. We called the front desk to see if they had anything else she could use and they said no, sorry, that's all we have and hung up on her. Other than that, this hotel has nice rooms and beds. We knew they were busy and would not have bothered them if it wasn't important. We seemed to be a bother. Maybe they should keep kits in the rooms.

I stayed there Nove 26th 2012.
The room had dirty underwear balled up behind the chair next to the bed. the shower had hair on the wall. ( gross) there fore the shower was never cleaned between guests.
there was no soap, shampoo, or tolet paper.

While I was upgraded to a suite, the bedroom was a Murphy bed which is too small for a couple. The bathrooms need upgrading as they are small. Polite staff and helpful at front desk. Need one more computer in business center for heavy guest use.

I attended a conference at this hotel, and the staff was exemplary in their warm welcoming attitude and the attention to detail in their friendly service. The hotel is located close to almost everything you want to do/see in downtown Halifax.

The location was excellent. We were given a harbor view as an SPG upgrade. Staff was very professional, personable, friendly and helpful. Didn't like the frosted door on the bathroom. Light through the door was disturbing during the night.

We've stayed at this Westin location many times over my lifetime, and found it to be a very convenient spot. The staff are courteous. Interesting places within walking distance of the hotel. Would recommend.

The Westin definitely fulfuilled my expectations. From the time I pulled up to the time I checked out, the staff was very friendly and helpful with all my needs. I would definitely reccomend this hotel to all my friends and family.

upgraded to a harbour view. 25% off our
meals in the restaurant was a nice surprise.
We did not require a car as everything was
within walking distance or a short cab ride.

Our stay at the hotel was very relaxing. The beds were super comfortable and cozy. I love this hotel! I love the smell of the soap in the washroom, the shower is delightful. I can't rave enough :)

I've stayed at many hotels in Halifax, and this is one of my favorites because of the location. It's a classic property, so could use some renovations, but you can't beat the proximity to downtown. The staff is fantastic.

This hotel has friendly helpful staff. They are interested in ensuring your needs are looked after. They provide, for a nominal cost, workout gear should you require it. Very accommodating. Responded to requests promptly.

For a hotel built in the 30's, Westin has done a fairly good job. Staff is superb, Dane,bellhop;Anthony & Jonathan,in the restaurant were incredible!...as was the food....Know how hotel food can be?? NOT HERE! Fantastic!

Good meeting space - well located for people who want to get out for a quick look at the Halifax harbour. Hotel is close to the Maritime Museum and the Immigration Museum. Good restaurants within walking distance.

The breakfast was fantastic! The buffet is very fresh. There are many choices. A little bit of healthy and a little bit of spoiling. It is all there. And the staff make you feel like you are visiting an old friend.

We found the hotel to very beautiful and well maintained. Our room was very clean and cozy. We loved the renovations done to the lobby - it is very grand gorgeous. Our only complaint - we only stayed one night!

The Westin Halifax was a great venue for our company's annual general meeting of 120 staff. The staff were courteous and helpful and the events worked because of the expertise of the management team.

My daughter and I really enjoyed our stay at the Westin in Halifax. Furthermore, it is really accessible and once we had parked our vehicle, we where able to walk to all the sites we wanted to visit.

Staff was friendly and helpfully both at the front desk and in the restaurant. Problem is the rooms are in a need of a refresh. AC does not work well and the beds are too soft (need to be replaced).

Room cleanliness and condition is not up to Westin standards. Rooms are in need of repair. This has not changed from 2 separate stays over one year apart. Did not recognize SPG status at check-in.

The room was clean and comfy.
The staff were beyond friendly and helpful.
The baby cribs are sweet little white cribs.
My family Loved it, we will be back!
