Rated 5 out of 5 by DocHarv Still Toronto's Best
Having stayed here more than three-dozen times over the past few years, I've learned far more about this property than any non-employee should! I've seen it busy and empty, through summer and winter, and I've sampled pretty much every part of the hotel that it has to offer. So, let's cut to the chase.
The hotel's weaknesses are also strengths, depending on your point of view. It is a giant property on the water. If you are looking for a boutique property in the middle of downtown, this is decidedly not that property. But if you like waterfronts or water views or boating or you're flying into Billy Bishop, you'll think this is the best hotel possible - and none in Toronto come close (geographically).
The hotel is large and caters to a large number of guests. So, if you don't like conventions or people having fun heading to/from events, you won't like this property. But if you're one of those many folks looking for an ideal convention location or you're going to the ACC or the Harbour for an event, it's the CLOSEST hotel possible and you'll be so glad you stayed there.
If you love fine dining, there's an independent restaurant on the roof with otherworldly views and slow service. If you like casual dining, there's a breakfast/lunch spot near the lobby that has solid American-style buffet or pub lunch that should meet most expectations. Both restaurants can get the job done for you, and the ground-floor resto (Mizzen) has a terrific staff. But if you want 5* trendy dining, you're going to have to exit, go 2-4 blocks, and make a reservation. That's just fine by me!
The rooms - you *should* love them. Most of them are above-average size, many with waterfront views, and they come decently appointed in a traditional Westin style. The hotel is also remodeling rooms so that some should be ready as 2017 arrives, and that will make everything about the rooms close to perfect. BUT, yes, if you're looking for a room with a Bose stereo or a built-in charger for your cell-phone, or with a jacuzzi, or perhaps a 50 inch LCD, no - this isn't that kind of hotel. But it's 2016 - bring your portable speaker and your own charger and then get out there and enjoy the CITY!
What about business travelers? You're all set. Plenty of meeting space, a business center below the lobby AND printing/computer functions in the lobby - along with a variety of other services you'd expect from a Westin and conference space for hundreds of folks.
What about honeymooners/anniversary types? HUH? You want honeymoon/anniversary romance at a giant hotel catering to thousands of people in the midst of one of North America's largest cities? I mean, the hotel has a great romance package and can do champagne and strawberries and other fun stuff, but a two-tower convention hotel with high occupancy by definition isn't going to make you feel like when you first fell in love! It's not an intimate place. It's a fun, business-leisure-convention-tourism place, and so you should not expect to feel as if there are just two of you - when it's closer to 2,000!
So, in short, it's the perfect compromise for all of us. We all want a property that does everything well and reaches everybody, with brand new rooms and no noise, and all of that hoopla. There's no way that's possible, but I have seen the hotel try really really hard to get there. They listen. They respond. They take feedback and advice, and for me, as one of many many guests, that's pretty much all I can ask from a property that has all of the fundamentals down so very well!

Rated 4 out of 5 by GrumpyGrampy Great View & Service
The rooms need updating but are well maintained and the view of the harbour is spectacular. The service is superior. We were booked for 3 nights to attend a concert but had to return early due to a death in the family. The front desk was exceptional, waiving charges and seeing that the friends we were supposed to meet received the concert tickets.

For the price we paid, we were very unimpressed. The room needed a lot of work and the bathroom was dingy and out dated. The lobby was nice and we expected that feel to flow into the room, but that was not the case. The bed was very soft and uncomfortable. We came to Toronto for our 10 year anniversary and were recommended this hotel. I however would not recommend this hotel.

My wife and I just recently attended the adele concert in toronto for our tenth anniversary and had the best time and experience starting here at the hotel, the staff was very polite and couldnt do enough for you, the restauarant on top floor was expetional as well! The room was very comfortable and spacious with a great view of the lake! After the concert we went to the lounge and had a couple drinks and ordered the pizza, we were kinda sketchy at first to order pizza from a hotle kitchen but it turned out to be fantastic and also the kitchen staff gave us a free desert to celebrate our anniversary. As part of our room package we had chocolate covered strawberries and wine delivered to room whenever we desried and wera able to order breakfast at 2 am to be delivered for 7 am as we had to check out early to attend a funeral, the staff had our bags carried down for us and my car rwady for me right on time so we could get on the road! I will and have recommended this hotel already

Wheels or rollers need oil! I heard them spinning all night long, echoing through the walls. Bad night's sleep.

We stayed at the Westin for the 50th anniversary of The Beatles 1966 concert. We have stayed here before and really like the location and comfort. This trip did not have the indoor waterfall this time( last time here a pipe broke and flooded the hotel, but our room missed the down pour, staff went over and above to make guests comfortable). One big treat is the ricotta cheese pancakes , looked forward to them for months. We will be back again.

My husband and I were in Toronto celebrating my birthday and a Blue Jays game. Our stay at the Westin Harbour Castle was conveniently located and a treat on my "bucket list". Laveera, their front desk employee, improved our stay with a surprise bottle of wine, including two glasses and a personal hand written birthday note delivered to our room...very classy indeed! Thank you Laveera, you are a shining star on the Westin team! The average rating was for the totally tired appearance of our room which, severely needed a makeover!

How lovely it was to watch the sailboats on the lake from our room, as a gourmet breakfast was delivered and set for us. The evening before we strolled the boardwalk, checked out the swimming pool and had a delicious dinner, listening to a talented guitarist, all right there. The rooms are beautiful and the staff is lovely, helpful and kind. I look forward to our next visit to Toronto as your guest!
