We looked forward to our stay, but were a bit dissapointed at first, on the one hand the hotel is a bit outdated, eighties style not refurbished.
One the other hand, NONE of the restaurants and bars the hotel had were open the two nights we stayed. They also have a nice Wine Bar, closed. Next day, same story, lots of apoligies, no restaurant open, no wine bar open.
Were forced to eat "room service" style dishes in the lobby bar. Not really nice, and not up to standard for a Westin 4 star hotel. The hotel has renowed restaurants, don't understands why they keep them closed. That s a real negative
We had though a very correct treatment and service by the impeccable hotel staff, which made up for this. They really are great and add a lot of value to the hotel
As I mentioned above half of e hotel rooms are old fashioned style. But what's surprising, is that another part of the hotel rooms are nice, modern, spacious. There was hardly any people in the hotel. Neverheless, we were as Platinum upgraded to one of the old rooms. Which is something i don't understand. If you have nice, modern room, with a Westin Bed, why do you then upgrade your best clients to old rooms (still with old and hard beds...)
One the other hand, when we complained, it was immediately fixed, and our second night we were able to enjoy one of their great rooms (335). My advice to management, if you have availability in your modern rooms, then upgrade your good clients there straight away. If they 're free anyway, what could it harm to have happy customers from the start?

We have stayed in many hotels around the world, and this Westin rates in the top 10. Fantastic view from our room, perfectly clean and modern, HUGE room by European standards, excellent service and a friendly welcoming staff. There can't be a better hotel in Dresden!

Some of the rooms' furniture looks like from the early 80s. It needs refurbishment. Also the mattress in my room needs to be exchanged (already informed the hotel).
No recognition of SPG Gold Status, even after asking twice.
Breakfast is great, however.

Stayed here as part of a Eastern European trip and was very impressed with the overall hotel, including room, service and one of the best breakfasts in recent memory. The staff was also very professional and courteous, helping with any request.

This is the best hotel I've visited on a regular basis. The hotel itself is beautiful, with attractive rooms overlooking the Elbe, it is great value for money and as a Platinum member I additionally receive nice upgrades. The staff are extremely attentive and after so many visits they not only know me by name but I know most of them by name as well!
-- A special mention for the reception desk, especially Ms.Hengmith and Ms. Koster, also Ms. Werner in the breakfast room.

Despite gold status, was allocated 2 rooms in front of the office's maids and close to elevators, making it extremely noisy !

Superb dinner in restaurant Canaletto.
Very friendly and service minded staff.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Brooxh Very nice hotel close to historic Dresden
This hotel was very good and eager to please. I did not get an automatic suite upgrade, got I did get a comfortable room with a view of the Elbe river.
The front desk staff was nice and very helpful. They remembered our name the morning after we checked in the prior day. A full breakfast was included with the room in addition to the 500 points. . . and it was a very good breakfast.
Internet service in the room had a weak signal and there was no wired Internet option. Bathroom was a bit small, but certainly adequate.
I would recommend this property without reservation, but if you need good wifi, make sure to ask for a room with good coverage.
