Rated 2 out of 5 by Assertive Great hotel with no SPG recognition
Stayed here 6 times in the last three months with no room upgrades.
At checkin front desk advises they are fully occuped and you need to confirm your platinum status as they automaticallly assume youre preferred.
It seems they allocate your room before checkin as they talk to you about the breakfast specials and you have to explain that you're platinum and debate to get some type of room upgrade which never happens.
being frustated, I thought on this stay i would check room availability on spg.com right before checkin and noticed that the spa suites was available, after cosulting front desk I was advised that they were fully booked being a Friday night. (i had booked a deluxe room being the one type lower) I dont care about a suite upgrade as the revews here confirm you'll never get upgraded.
I explained that i just checked on spg.com and it showed the spa suite being available however my room has already been alocated and there is nothing they can do...just sheer arrogance i must say.
I continually get charged for mini bar consumption and have to call up to get this resolved post my stay not sure how this keeps happening therefore i do not reccomend express checkout make sure you settle your folio on departure.
I personally think after 6 stays with no spg recognition and dry eperience at checkin i will not be returning anytime soon.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Jackie270 Hotel is run like a sleeper train
You get on, you sleep, you get off. The hotel is probably better for business professionals who don't really have time to enjoy life. Hotel is run like clockwork - robotic, automated, and no personality. As an spg plat, there was almost zero recognition - not even a simple welcome letter. Room is as advertised. Service is extremely prompt and quick - except they have no idea how to turn down a room. When turndown was requested, the housekeeping arrived to ask us what part of the room we needed cleaned. That's very poor standards for a westin. Breakfast was extremely crowded and busy and noisy. It's like dining in a train at peak hour. View of the cathedral from the bay window of certain rooms. Stayed here twice and will never return again. This hotel does not fit its brand. Doesn't feel like a starwood property, although sadly this makes no difference in the near future. Concierge at the lobby was helpful though. Library looks cool but was closed and deserted with no staff and no service during my stay. #starwoodproud #spglife

I have been a very loyal Sheraton client for over 25 years, throughout the world.
It continues to impress me on all levels.
Always feeling spoilt and special !

Loved our Deluxe Spa Room, great view of Collins and Swanston Streets, the bed was so comfortable and our bathroom was beautiful. We spent our 20 year anniversary there and the room was one of the best I have stayed in Melbourne.

Great location, very comfortable bedding. Service you'd expect from a Starwood hotel. Only negative is room service prices on top of this a delivery fee.

Rated 5 out of 5 by cher443 very good location hotel
My husband and I spent 4 nights in the Westin Melbourne. The hotel is with great location, 3 minutes walk to free tram station, Flinders Street Station, eating places, shops and gardens etc. Convenient distance from major centers. Room is big and clean, we would definitely stay here again.
