Rated 3 out of 5 by Kase The hotel is nice and clean.
The hotel is well maintained and the staff is friendly. However, I requested a quiet room and was told at check-in that I was placed on the"quiet" side of the hotel.
Each and every morning of my 3-night stay my wife and I were woken-up at 5:15 AM to the very loud noise of a truck dumping glass products at the street level. And, during the day you could here a bell ring of what I am guessing is a parking garage warning system.
If this is the "quiet" side I'd hate to see what the loud side is like.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Disappoint Disappointed
I am very disappointed that we payed so much for so few amenities. Westin should be ashamed of charging guests so dearly for WiFi service in this day and age. I work in a financially struggling urban community hospital that realizes the necessity of its patients and visitors to have internet access and therefore provides free Wifi. It is a courtesy and should not be charged. There is also no pool, and breakfast was much too overpriced to consider with such great food and restaurants in the vicinity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by FSG1529 Portland Westin is the best !
Overall experience was beyond expectations! Entire staff, from front desk to valet to housekeeping, was genuinely helpful, knowledgeable, and pleasant.
Accomodations and size of hotel enable it to have the flavor of a boutique residence with larger hotel resources. Fabulous location for proximity to local restaurants, cafes,
art galleries, theaters and shopping.
Would definitely recommend to friends and colleagues.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Grace1113 It's fine.
I've often used Starwood hotels in many places. I stayed in the Westin as well in Portland. Overall, the service was just as much as I expected. It was enjoyable except one thing. I used valet parking service and there was a scratch on my car. But I know I can't complain about this because I don't know when and how it happened. All I know is that it wasn't there before I went to the Westin. I like staying at Starwood hotels and they are mostly good, but I was a little bit dissatisfied this time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Fay4 Truly Tremendous!
We have staryed at this Westin several times, and took our friends with us on this visit. Everything was wonderful! I forgot our toothbrushes, and the front desk sent some up immediately! We had a VERY late dinner one night, and wanted a drink at the beautiful bar before retiring to bed. The bartender was very accomodating, even though it was quite late! Breakfast at the Daily Grill is always a great experience! We left relaxed and rejuvenated in a short period of time! Thank you again, Westin!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Pineapple93 Great Location, Great Stay
Just what we have come to expect from Westin. Great staff, comfortable rooms, great bed and bathroom. Good value for the cost of the room, and central location although I did not park a car. Would recommend a corner room, if possible. Away from elevators, and very quiet. Small lobby but enjoyable bar area. Very clean with nice touches throughout hotel. Only 2 elevators so a bit slow but fine. About a 3 minute walk from MAX light rail and Pioneer Square. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Essi Best room in the hotel, huh? Does that include the flooding?
So I took a chance at staying here to save a little as compared to the other Starwood property nearby that I love. Big Mistake.
At check-in, I was told that there were at full capacity until I told them my name and they saw I was platinum. The next morning I took a shower which ended up flooding my bathroom and into the hallway which I spent the next ten minutes trying to dry up with all of the towels. Luckily they sent up a repair man to work on the shower as I shaved and brushed my teeth.
I didn't receive an apology, nor an offer to move to another room, nor even a courtesy follow up voicemail.
As for the room, it seemed a lot smaller than I would have expected, and the interior was rather dated. Had I not gone through the flooding, I would have given 3 stars as the rooms need a bit of updating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mmourice Another Great Stay
As always, excellent accommodations, professional and courteous staff, excellent food and bar service (with quality drinks), love the separate showers and rain head shower heads. This is the only hotel that has these kinds of shower facilities.
Always recommend, always stay at this hotel in Portland

They truly do appreciate the challenge and grind of business travel!

Very nice hotel, location is on the outskirts of downtown walking area. The local thugs and drug scene take a lot away from the pleasure of staying at this location.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Shari1973 Regular Portland visitors who found a GREAT new hotel
In the past 3 years, we have recently become frequent visitors of Portland driving in from Vancouver, BC, Canada. We enjoy the finer things in life and have high expectations when it comes to hotels. We were regulars at another 4 star boutique hotel but it had become a bit more worn than we would like. We decided to give the Westin Portland a try and found that not only is it centrally located and walking distance from great shopping, but it's also right near some amazing restaurants and food trucks. The beds are heavenly as one would come to expect but the service here by the staff was not only exceptional, but it was friendly without being stuffy. The room was near immaculate as if it had JUST been renovated. The hotel is also very quiet and we would recommend this hotel to anyone (and already have!).

Rated 1 out of 5 by Skeevo Like a time warp back to 2003
Come on, Westin - it's 2013.
1. You have flat screen TVs in the room, but no HD? That's like buying a Ferrari and putting 4 spare tires on it. Not what I expect from a "luxury" hotel.
2. I have to pay for WiFi in the room? That's terrible. Again, this isn't 2003. WiFi is as essential as having running water in the room. Nothing I hate more than a "luxury" hotel nickel and dime-ing me for things that should be included in the room rate.
3. $35 for parking? I hope you're paying the valets well, because they're not getting a tip from me at that price. The lot a block away charges under $10 for overnight parking.
4. My bed was short sheeted! the bottom sheet didn't go all the way to the end of the bed. I made this clear to the cleaning staff and I think it was worse the second night. Get some sheets that fit, or train your staff on how to properly fit them to the bed.
If my choices are to go to one of the "economy" chains and spend $90 per night, but get HDTV and WiFi included, or stay at a "luxury" hotel and pay more than twice as much to get old technology, I'm going for cheaper and better.
Get your act together, Westin. I'm willing to pay for luxury, but in 2013 there's more to luxury than a fancy shower head and a bed that's really not much different than what the other chains are offering now.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Nutch Corner Room
Although our corner room was nice, I don't see why it cost more than a regular "view" room. Our view room last year was larger, had a tub and a shower and a better view than the corner room we just stayed in. Also the floor wasn't very clean -- bathroom floor clearly hadn't been moped after the last visitor and the rug had big stains.

Rated 4 out of 5 by JEZL Very convenient location
The hotel is in walking distance from everywhere we are going, super convenient. The room are comfortable and fortunately we were between the supply room and ice room so we did not hear much noise as others may claim. But the door/wall was thin as in the morning we can hear the cleaning lady comes and goes. Overall, it was a pleasant stay. The bedroom in King Deluxe was pretty spacious which was a plus!

We goofed at a course about an hour away but the west in is in the heart of the city. Great location to walk to restaurants, shopping and parks. The hotel is very nice with great staff. It is always busy so spy upgrades are never available. The rooms are in good condition but cleaning could be a bit better. Overall a very good place to stay.

Rated 4 out of 5 by goldfinch love the convenient location, corner rooms with walk in showers, and the Daily Grill
have tried many hotels in downtown Portland, but the Westin Portland is always my first choice. Ali, the bellman, was especially warm, friendly, and helpful. I look forward to his greeting upon my Oct. arrival.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Nanette2013 Great downtown location!
The staff was very helpful, the restaurant very nice with delicious food and friendly wait staff. I was a little disappointed with the size of our room; the king size bed only allowed for a desk and chair and one upholstered chair tucked in the corner not facing the television. There was only about 4 feet of space between the desk (facing the window) and bed, and the wall and bed on the other side. It felt cramped compared to other Westin facilities we have stayed at.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Garth47 Thrilled again
This was our second trip to the Westin in Portland and we were just as thrilled with our stay as our first.
Our first visit was in February for just one night and when we pulled up in July the bellman actually remembered us. What a pleasant surprise.
The rest of the staff was very pleasant and efficient and our room was extremely comfortable.
This is our favourite Westin hotel because it is so quaint and comfortable with a staff that goes above and beyond every time.

Couldn't ask for a better hotel to stay. Very spacious and clean! Staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the area, which was a big help for us since we were first time visitors to Portland. Even answered our silly question of "Should we tip the guy who pumps our gas?" without laughing at us (the answer is no, FYI). And the location was great! Right downtown, within walking to basically everywhere you need to go.
Definitely will stay here next time.

This was my first stay at the Westin Portland (I travel to Portland frequently for business) and I'd probably avoid it in the future. The doors were a bit noisy in the night and the fitness room was small. But the room service food is the worst I have had in recent years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Apple63 Very Pleasant
This hotel is a recently renovated property which almost seems like a boutique - very charming yet extremely modern finishings. The hotel is very conveniently located downtown within walking distance of all major attractions and transit. We found the bar and restaurant very enjoyable and the food quality was very good. The staff were great with recommendations for local nightlife and restaurants. A very enjoyable stay for business or pleasure.

I travel weekly which includes 2 -3 trips a month to Portland. I love this hotel! I appreciate being greeted by name from the valet to the front desk and even in the daily grill. I enjoy the quiet luxury of the rooms and the convenient location of the hotel itself. And let's not forget about the heavenly bed - I even bought one for my home. Traveling can be taxing at times which is why I like staying at the Westin. It's my home away from home!

Rated 4 out of 5 by G2KT Nice hotel but parking is a bit of a problem
Hotel is very comfortable, and the rooms were spacious. Lounge and bar area were well done and attractive.
Excellent location in downtown Portland and friendly staff.
The street loading and unloading area is small and difficult to get room to park and unload. Staff was helpful, but we had to circle the block 3 times before we found a space to park.
Parking is $35 a day. And not waived or discounted for Platinum SPG members.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Betsy1122 Nice hotel!
I was looking for a nice hotel in Portland where my dog was welcome, so the Westin was a great choice. The hotel is very nice, really pretty and right in downtown. Everyone at the hotel was super friendly and helpful. The room was very nice and the bathroom was humongous with a fantastic shower with a rain shower head. I will definitely stay here again if I need a hotel room in Portland. (My dog enjoyed the stay too!)

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tommij Luxury hotel with perfect downtown location
We love to stay at the Westin Portland downtown. It is in a perfect location for us whether we want to walk, ride the trolley, or take MAX. It is beautifully decorated & the staff is always helpful & gracious. They have a convenient restaurant that consistently has great food. We have been staying here for over ten years. The only thing that might improve our stay would be to have warm cookies at check-in! :-)

Rated 3 out of 5 by buster52 Nice But Not So Nice.
The room was nice, but for a room at this rate, I expected so much more.
Only one coffee cup.
Sheets were completed stiff, like they had been starched.
Bath towels were stiff and felt like they needed softener.
No heat source in the bathroom, so the floors and the room were freezing.
The fee on this room was as much as we have paid elsewhere, but those rooms were suites with a living room and a gas fireplace.
