Rated 5 out of 5 by Outstanding overall experience. Excellent service. Convenient location to everything you need. As a long standing SPG member and business traveler - I can not say enough how impressed I was with my experience at the Westin Taipei. It exceeded my expectations. Even though the hotel is an older building - the customer service, hospitality and convenience more than made up for it. The staff is extremely dedicated and helpful. The gym and swimming pool facilities are excellent. The complimentary morning breakfasts were delicious. There are local massage places and great restaurants all within walking distance. Room Service and concierge services are outstanding. I highly recommend coming here. I look forward to returning again in the future. April 10, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Another memorable experience In Feb 2014 I was struck in japan for a few days during the horrible blizzard. When I finally got to Taipei, I was as happy as if I was going home. I was pampered and yes felt like a VIP throughout my stay. The outstanding professional but yet very personable warm staff members especially Jack and Laura had helped me to forget the nightmare experience in Japan and turned this trip into other memorable time. Of course great food in Taipei helped a lot too. There was a small issue. The room temperature was central controlled and it was too hot for me to sleep comfortably so the staff promptly brought a fan. Small problem and was resolved quickly. I will be back again and again and have recommended my friends and other family members to stay at Westin Taipei as the #1 choice. April 13, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Very poor SPG recognition for Gold members Spent this past weekend at the Westin Tapiei and was extremely dissatisfied with the level and quality of service offered to SPG members. I frequently travel and have stayed at Starwood properties all over Asia and the US. The level of service offered at other hotels compared to the Westin in Taipei was extremely noticeable. The room that was provided was old and the bathroom sink drain did not work. The blow dryer also was broken and I had to request a new one with the front desk. Upon check in, I was told that they could not locate my Gold status and could not contact customer service on my behalf. After calling them myself, I was told over the phone that they could see my Gold status and that I should go back to the front desk and advise them. After going back to the front desk at midnight and asking them to check the computer again, they acknowledged that I had Gold status and could move me to a higher room for the remaining night. I did not bother at that point since my experience had already been soured. There was no welcome gift offered for the stay. I would not recommend this hotel to future guests until the guest experience is greatly improved to the level that is expected in being a SPG member. April 6, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful Meeting Hotel Fabulous Experience! I am a meeting planner based out of Texas (USA) and I travel all over the world hosting meetings and events. In February of 2014 I hosted a two-day meeting in Taipei, Taiwan at the Westin Taipei. Being based in Texas, it made the planning of this meeting a tad tough. The time zone difference alone was a challenge (14+ hours). Catherine Chen (Asst Sales Manager) was on top of it. She exchanged tons and tons of emails with me to get our meeting planned and ready to go. Having never been to Taiwan, I had a million questions. She was quick to either answer them for me, or put me in touch with someone who could. It was most helpful!  Once on-site at the Westin Taipei was when the wonderful experience came full circle. The hotel was perfect! It was a tad outside of “down town” but the property completely made up for it. They had several restaurants on-site to choose from, a Starbucks (always a plus), their own ground transportation, the list goes on and on. It was even a pleasant surprise to learn that English was very well understood and spoken at the hotel. That was a huge relief to me (seeing as it is the only language I can speak). Our hotel pre-con ran smoothly. Catherine and her team (Jill Lee specifically) were well prepared for our group and completely ready. The meeting space was beautiful. The banquet meals were giant and delicious. The guest rooms were spacious and very comfortable. The hotel was modern and their cigar lounge on the 3rd floor was a HUGE hit with our clients and our guests. A few things that stood out as over and beyond. Our Main Meeting Room – We didn’t have access to set this room until midnight the night before our meeting. By 12:01AM the entire room was filled with hotel staff: moving tables, changing linens, setting AV, bringing in chairs, arranging food tables, etc. It was like watching a machine. I have never seen such organization. I was amazed. In my many experiences with situations such as this, a room flip such as this would take at least 2+ hours. The entire room was flipped and ready within minutes. Wow! Aside from that was the hotel and banquet staff. There was never a single minute that I didn’t have a staff member present. Often during meetings the staff steps away and that is of course right when you need them. Not at this hotel. You had someone present 100% of the time. Perfection. And our main banquet captain, Brian, hands-down-amazing! Our meeting was wonderful in large part to him and his team! He anticipated our needs before we even knew what we needed. He even learned our client’s favorite drink and always made sure it was available to her. That is attention to detail that I don’t often see. *Thank you Brian! Our Farewell Dinner. The client wanted to host it on the property, but had a few “must haves”. Lindsey Lin, Tina Kwo and Mark Li were amazing in assisting me with this. We ended up hosting our dinner at Yi-Yuan (on property) and Brian from the restaurant was able to meet all our CRAZY needs. He was the most helpful server/manager I have EVER worked with and the dinner was a huge success!  He even came in on his night off to tend to our group personally. *Thank you Brian. Just amazing. Finally, the front desk staff. They were beyond organized and extremely helpful. Mark Li from Concierge – never anyone better! He arranged all our ground transportation – helped us with off-site dinner reservations – stayed on-top of changing room reservations… truly a wonderful man. He even helped us with the Taiwan Consulate when one of our guests got stuck in Hong Kong (long story – but Mark to the rescue)!  **Note: Be sure to book all your ground transportation needs through the hotel directly. They are extremely organized and run a very smooth operation. One thing I didn’t have to worry about. I loved it!  Oh goodness, I cannot forget my final invoice. Allan Yeh and his assistance with the payment process was much appreciated. It is never easy reconciling a large invoice, especially when dealing in another currency. Allan, his patience and his prompt responses were able to get me exactly what I needed in the end.  Thank you!  All-in-all a great experience at the Westin Taipei. Should I plan to return in the future, I will 100% source this hotel!  April 8, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by This hotel had great Starwood Elite member recognition Have been here 2 times and had been upgraded to suite room for both stay. The suite room is very spacious which have a separate living room and working area. The local gift amenities was good which I get a very beautiful small pillow and a very elegent design note pad. A very good SPG elite member benefit offered and regconition by this hotel. The light rail transit station also just a 5 minutes walk away from Hotel. September 6, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by One of the better hotels The hotel use to be excellent, but recently (i believe two months ago) it changed management (not ownership) and the level of service and amenities have suffered. The management directive must be cost savings. For example, the hotel use to serve a great breakfast on the 2nd floor for Platinum members. Now the selection is way down along with the service. I was there two ago (mid Apr./13) and found a coach roach on my seat at breakfast. One of staff saw me dealing with the pest and came over and stepped on it as though it was a regular occurrence. No action of address the issue, place me at a different table or advising the management. I came back at noon and the coach roach carcass was still on the floor in the same spot. I mentioned it as check-out time and only reaction I got was, ok we will take care of it. Too bad. I travel a lot to this location and its its unfortunate, that I'm forced into alternative accommodations. April 26, 2013

Rated 3 out of 5 by This hotel is too cold The room and lounge was clean and modern. However, the room is too cold to stay without jacket and outer inside. I'm catching cold and it was dangerous if I catch cold during 2 weeks holiday period. I asked hotel staff to fix AC, as room temperature was anytime below 20 degrees and never wen up above 20 degrees even if I set it as 31.0 degree. This needs really improvement. December 30, 2013
