The best customer service. My favorite starwood hotel.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Oct2014visitor very comfortable and clean
Attractive hotel but some comments:
- wall signs for directions to ground floor rooms, fitness and lobby areas were very hard to read.
- In-room internet access didn't work
- need a light in the clothes closet
- liked the complimentary in-room water, coffee and biscotti.
- should have included reduced (or free)parking fee considering room price.
- too expensive
overall a good (but not great) hotel stay.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Liv4travel Excellent Boutique Hotel in Palo Alto
Just returned from the Westin Palo Alto. Hotel location is very convenient to downtown restaurants & shops. I've stayed here 4-5 times and have never met a staff member that wasn't very helpful and friendly. Rooms decor is up-to-date and immaculate. Breakfast buffet is expensive but provides excellent choices and very freshly prepared breakfast items. Pool and hot tub are very relaxing. Rooms are large by today's standards. Will definitely return.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Spiff Never Again. Over priced. Poor service.
I arrived at check in time of 3pm and my room was not ready. The person at the desk was not apologetic and was less than friendly. I inquired if the restaurant was open and he said yes. I went to the 2nd floor and it was closed. I then went to the pool to order room service and wait for what I thought was going to be 30 minutes. 1 hr 45 mon later he came out with the key and handed it to me. No offeer to escort me to my room. When I arrived they were still cleaning the room. Another hotel employee was apologetic and offered free breakfast. As the hotel was sold out the only room available was a fireplace suite. It was a dungeon. While a somewhat spacious room it was dark and unattractive. Considering the price, very low value. The hotel lobby is exceedingly small making it somewhat awkward for meeting people. I would not recommend this hotel nor would I stay there ever again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by LAExec A bit disappointed, actually
This Westin sits side by side with the Sheraton Palo Alto, essentially across the street from Stanford University. For many years I've always stayed at the Sheraton because its rates are significantly lower than the Westin. This time the Sheraton was full, so with some help from Stanford on rates, I tried the Westin.
I must say I was quite disappointed. While the Westin's rates are typically $150-200 more than the Sheraton next door, I actually thought the overall quality of the hotel was, at best, equal to the Sheraton, if not a bit lower.
I awoke with a back ache, had to walk across the parking lot to the Sheraton for a cappuccino (they have a Starbucks stand, the Westin doesn't), found the breakfast prices outrageous for what you got, and discovered that to get a taxi you also had to walk next door.
Fascinating. Don't waste your money here, many other hotels in the area are equally good for less.

Rated 1 out of 5 by TDLM72 This hotel does not take care of its Platinum Guests
I am extremely disappointed to report my recent stay at the Westin Palo Alto did not meet my expectations of what a Westin property should be. They did not offer a welcome gift, no free continental breakfast, and worst of all... they wanted to charge me to use the internet. Also, some of the electrical plugs in the room did not work. I had to charge my computer in the bathroom, because I did not have the energy to move the large entertainment center. Lastly, the sink water collector lever was not functional.

Rated 1 out of 5 by BusinessTraveller Shocked!
I never thought of Westin being the type of hotel where you'd have to carry your own toilet paper and towels, and yet that's exactly what I'll have to do if I'm forced to stay at this venue again. The paper towels and towels were rough as sandpaper! The bedsheets weren't great either -- seemed like low quality merchandise overall. I was shocked!
The room layout was weird -- I tried my best to not be in my room as much as possible. I've been to other Westins before and never had such a horrible experience. And that was when I didn't even have an SPG status. Maybe now that they have me in, I don't get the good rooms anymore?
