My wife scheduled a surprise birthday getaway and during check-in all the staff was interested in was what time we were leaving so they could get the maid's schedule early for the room. This is my second review, and the first was a bad experience because the room was not ready at check-in. It seems this Hotel has a service problem. You would think at the rate of almost $300 a night you would not experience these issues. Do not stay here if it is for a special occasion because they do not care.

Wonderful stay at the Westin Poinsette. Staff rallied to fix unforeseen problems. However...my issue is not only with this hotel, but most others. You want us to be Green, and reuse towels. However, there is NOT ENOUGH ROOM TO HANG UP TOWELS, especially for two people. Put up more hooks and towel bars, and not over the toilet. I would act as I do at home, and not throw once used towels on the floor. And put a shelf or two in the bathroom for our own toiletries. There was plenty of space for that in our bathroom. Otherwise...everything was truly great...lots of electrical outlets...and lamps made the room very usable.

I arranged a special evening for my husband and I to get away from our three small children and busy life. We were hoping to rest and relax. I asked at check in if we could be on a quiet floor. The front desk clerk assured me it was. Unfortunately, he was wrong. The party in the next room started at 2 am with loud knocking every hour as more people joined in and ended with a loud singing at 5 am. We left more exhausted than when we showed up.

I booked my room weeks in advance for a business trip and for some reason it got lost in the system, so when I checked a day in advance of my trip, it was gone. I called the hotel and they were fully booked, but the woman assured me that she would send an email to her manager and that if there was anything they could do, they would call me right away in the morning.
As promised, Dru, the manager, called in the morning to tell me they had figured out how to get me a room and would love if I'd stay with them. When I arrived, they had put me in the Presidential Suite for one night! Dru came out from behind the desk to greet me, thanked me so much for staying with them, apologized for the issue with my reservation, and sent me ice cold Guinness for St. Patrick's Day.
I do a lot of travel for work and stay in a lot of SPG hotels, but this may be the best customer experience I've ever had at a hotel, SPG or otherwise. Bravo! Thanks to Dru and everyone in Greenville!

Amazing front desk staff and very efficient!
The servers/staff/cooks are wonderful at the restaurant, and the food is great! I have participated with trek travel ride camp which has the lodging set up with your hotel, and what a great and smart relationship that is for you. I have fallen in love with your hotel because of the ride camp and have come down numerous times because of the set up. Great job!

My daughter stayed here with her bridesmaids the night before her wedding and stayed with her husband the night of her wedding. The staff was very accomodating and they were very friendly. They made her stay very easy on a day that could be very stressful! Andre was a bellman who helped us tremendously! Their stay was a great experience!

We stay here whenever in town. It is our favorite hotel in the Carolinas. Love the area so much we are moving in 2 months to Greenville. Still plan to visit the hotel for special occasions.
The employees are great. They are very attentive to your needs. Restaurants serve great food and reservations try to meet your special needs. If in the area, do not miss this hotel.

I've stayed at this hotel many times for business and have had great service and a nice room. This time was visiting Greenville with my wife for a concert. Service was not so good and the room was very small. Hotel was booked, so was told another room was not available. First coffee maker in the room would turn off after brewing a half a cup. Staff replaced it with one that would not turn on. When I told the front desk at check out, they thought it was funny.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. Raymond gave us a ride to dinner and returned to pick us up. That was a nice plus. I will definately stay at the Poinsett again.

An older hotel, with all the implied quirks, but still quite lovely, and a very good hotel in a spectacular locale (if you haven't been to Greenville, go ASAP!). Excellent service from the valet to the front desk to housekeeping.
Upgraded pre-arrival, quick and helpful check-in, and very reasonable valet parking for all of $15. Manager sent a welcome basket, a nice gesture. Large junior suite (1006), albeit with limited windows, if that matters to you, but very comfortable. Reasonable fitness facility. Prime location if you have an interest in downtown Greenville (and you should).
If you have the opportunity, American Grocery is very good.

I am for lack of a better word appalled at the treatment of my family and myself this stay. I have stayed at this location before and had no problems, but this time has been anything but. First we were told we could not be upgraded unless we paid, which fine, we had the rooms booked through a third party site which we never do but a new admin assistant thought they were helping. Regardless of that fact we are Platinum SPG members that stay exclusively at Starwood properties. Then we were told we would be in a room with two queen beds, well it was actually two double beds. So in the morning I asked to be moved to a room with a king and a roll away, checking online i confirmed there were still rooms available. I went to the front desk and was told Yeah I can do that, let me just check on something. And then when the front desk person returned she said "unfortunately we can't actually do that, we are in an oversold situation" It makes me question why we are even members of the SPG program. Ive never been so disappointed in an SPG property. If I had not already booked one additional stay here I would NEVER stay at this location again.

This hotel did not offer any of the "normal" SPG amenities for platinum status (room upgrades, club, etc). The rooms are clean but the furnishings could be updated. The staff is very friendly but seemed to be a little inexperienced in handling questions from customers. I would recommend the hotel however will definitely level set on expectations for SPG members.

Our room assignment was on a floor with large wedding party. One after another small group came down the hall until 3:30 in the morning, each one very loud. Certainly did not want to dampen their spirits, but it strained our ability to rest. Will be more careful, if we return, to make sure we are not in similar situation again.

Janice made our trip wonderful. We had fun visiting with her as this was our 2nd year to see her. She is truly an asset to your hotel.
Thank you also for the late checkout. That made a huge difference.
Our room had not been used in sometime and was very dusty, very. Too there were lady bugs on the inside of the window. Any other kind of bug and we would have been at the front desk immediately. But we just shooed them out. We snagged a cleaning person to dust one area quickly for us so it worked out.

You had a Westin Club and a better breakfast with healthy grain breads not that commercial bakery drivel everyone else serves.
Old historic building is nice. Would book again if club was there as need a place to relax and room was too small to unwind.

We stay at the Poinsett regularily....and it is always a pleasure.. The rooms are great, the location to everything in Greenville is perfect, and the staff is second to none. The feeling walking into that historic lobby is wonderful.

Checked in on Friday, July 5th. I have stayed here numerous times before, and the valet and front desk were ask friendly and helpful as always. As a Platinum, was upgraded to a suite on the 11th floor. The room was very comfortable, and the AC worked wonders. The hotel is located right in the middle of downtown Greenville, and hence is an extremely convenient walk to everywhere. The fitness room is certainly more than adequate, and the complementary buffet breakfast offers a pleasant and surprising variety of food. Checkout was simple, and my vehicle was ready and waiting for me. A delightful farmers market was an added delight on Saturday morning. You should be aware that the hotel is an older facility, but it has been renovated and is well kept.

What a grand old hotel. Westin has done such a great job respecting the history yet bringing modern comforts to a historic hotel. She is perfectly located in the middle of the Greenville action. Hotels, restaurants, farmers market, nightlife are steps from the front door. Westin employee Raymond, great guy, drove us to dinner in a Westin buggy! We stay here every time we visit Furman and are never disappointed!

I rank my stays based on quality and services received for costs paid. We were there overnight 9 PM to 7 AM. The staff greeted us wamly and accomodated the fact that we had 3 in our group for the platinum recognition brakfast. The decor is quite appealing. The beds were the usual BEST. Surpassed our expectations. The parking is only $6 and is convenient and not too crowded which is important if you have a nice car that you don't want dinged.

Everything about this hotel speaks to what Westin and starwood brands stand for.
Smart, friendly, and welcoming staff right from valet and it continues with the front desk. They always have my reservation laid out in advance so check in is super easy, and they always recognize your spg level with appreciation and even welcome baskets from the GM.
The hotel itself is in a great location right on main st so walking to everything is very easy.
The hotel is quite old but it has been updated to make it feel modern while maintaining the antique charm.
The restaurant has a very nice breakfast .
All in all, this what an SPG hotel should feel like.

I recently stayed at the Westin Poinsett for a week while I was in Greenville for an arbitration hearing. The arbitration involved a very complicated matter, with 14 bankers boxes of documents. We had many unforeseen needs with respect to the documents (including shipping, delivery to the arbitration site and copying of documents), and the hotel staff met every single need, sometimes volunteering to help as my partner and I stood at the front desk discussing what we should do to address issues that had come up. They made a stressful week seem like it was not so stressful. The helpfulness of the staff was unmatched by any other hotel I've stayed at - for business or pleasure - they went far beyond "above and beyond" and they were among the most genuinely friendly people I've ever encountered. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone, and I liked it so much that I intend to return sometime on a vacation.

A little different from many Westins, this is much more of a classic hotel, albeit with modern amenities, rather than the more modern feel of most Westins. The valets are quick and efficient, and my car was brought up quickly -- although self-parking is also an easy option if you wish to save $5. Check in was simple and easy, and my room had already been upgraded to a suite without asking (this hotel is very good about recognizing Starwood status). My suite was quite comfortable, and the hotel sent up an amenity basket after I checked in, a nice touch. Greenville happens to be an immensely enjoyable destination, and the Westin is right in the middle, offering convenient access to the surrounding shops, restaurants, and parks. The hotel's restaurant is certainly fine, although there are a myriad of choices outside its doors. The workout facility is also more than adequate. All in all, an excellent choice in a great town.

This hotel was first reopened about 13 years ago and we first stayed at this hotel within a few months of opening. We have traveled to Greenville many times and this is our top pick due to location, comfort, full service hotel with a great lobby bar with piano music, and convenient to all of the shops and restaurants in Greenville's historic district.

Second time at this hotel in 6 weeks and still amazed at how beautiful the downtown area is and is only steps outside of this historic hotel. The hotel staff greeted me and remembered me from my previous visit in April which was a nice surprise. Entire staff from valet to front desk to housekeeping were exceptionally friendly and accommodating.

We hosted our daughter's wedding reception at the Westin Poinsett. The wedding party also stayed at the hotel. The event was wonderful! The Westin staff was so helpful and accomodating. We could not have asked for better service. The food at the reception was great. The ballroom just gorgeous! We highly recommend the Westin Poinsett!

First I love Westin Hotels. I have never asked to change rooms I should have made and exception to the rule with Room # 814. The room is next to the Elevators and the Ice Machine. As you walk in the room the floor is not flat it has a slope to it. I dealt with it for 5 nights I should get and award for that.
