I arrived Saturday evening to check in. I was a little irritated and upset to have a front desk person, who did nothing but snicker and laugh the whole time she was checking me in. I told her I was checking in late because I was in a horrible accident and had been at the hospital. I found her offensive, her snickering while speaking to me, when I told her I had been in an accident. That is very rude! She spoke really quick about the gym and breakfast. I had to ask her to repeat the last sentence. She kept snickering. It was quite irritating and not the behavior of someone dealing with guest. She was my first impression and it was not a good one. She did not tell me where to go or what floor or anything. She quickly left the counter and was out of site once she told me where the elevator was, once I asked. I walked to my room and when I entered, there was a switch but it only turned on the dim light at the door. I could not see in the room, at all. One of the lamps should be hooked up to switch. I tripped and almost fell, walking in my room. I was hurting and that did not make me any happier. The room was nice and clean. It was cold so I turned up the heat. I waited for about an hour and it was still cold. I turned it up to its highest setting and waited for another hour and it was really cold. I called the front desk. Well, I decided to give it a little more time. I had to call again and they sent someone up but it was not the service gentleman. He was the nicest employee here, though. He was so sincere and sweet. I appreciated it. I was freezing and the heater was not working, he offered to see if I would like some soup or anything to help me warm up. He covered me up with another blanket. I told him, some hot tea may help. He was happy to oblige. He smiled, and let me know it would be brought up to me. Several minutes later, there was a knock at my door. I got up and went to the door. A server was there with a tray. She looked at me, with a straight face, no kindness about her and said, someone said you wanted tea. I said, yes, please and she came straight in and sat it down on the desk. She spoke no kind words to me, just, You are lucky I was not busy. Who says that to someone????? Really... that was extremely rude. I was offered something since I was freezing in my room, no fault to me... Well, she left without saying anything else. She was really rude... I was informed that the service men had already left for the evening. so I was left to be cold in my room, until morning. I felt like I paid you guys for a torturous evening/night. The next morning I get up and order breakfast. My son had come over to celebrate his birthday (that is why I came here). The breakfast was beautiful and arrived in a timely manner. The server was sweet. The only thing was... NO SALT. I had to sit and my food was getting cold in my cold room while I was waiting for salt. I cannot eat grits/food with no salt. My toast got cold too and they really need to send up toast, not warmed bread. I do like light toast but this had not toast about it. So, my breakfast went a little unplanned... but if they had given us salt (which I know is a mandatory item on a tray) our breakfast would have been awesome.. even despite the bread. The engineer arrived, without any warning from the front desk, while we were eating. He was polite and said he could come back later but I felt bad for him. He was carrying a lot of stuff and I did not want to put him out. He found out the problem and fixed it. There was minimum noise and he was not here too long. The front desk should have called us to warn us, though. That would be the proper thing to do. What if I was indecent??? I asked for some extra conditioner (since I have super long hair), they did not arrive by the time the front desk called to check on it but I had to go to the door because housekeeping had gotten here and wanted to clean my room. I asked her for some, and she gave it to me nicely but when I asked her if she could give me an hour or two to be out of the room, she gave the facial expression and body language as being irritated, that I put her out. I did not mean to. I am hurt from my accident yesterday and very slow at getting around and in a lot of pain.
Well, we accidentally got locked out. I sent my boy to call the front desk. They ask him about a paper they needed from me... not caring we were stuck out of our room late at night. I am sorry but they are rude and have no common sense or decency.
When I checked out The front desk employee was over charging me and I told her how I felt about it. She got the manager and the manager did not introduce herself I had to read her nametag to find out who she was and I said, Oh, I emailed you yesterday. I barely got any response back except I will look into that.. like she did not believe me. She had me sincerely upset that I just had to walk away. I looked at my account to day and there are 6 different amounts being charged to me and why, I don't know.

My travels with SPG have allowed me to notice many different aspects of service in this industry. This property exhibits nothing short of superb service all around. As a platinum member we received snacks and a warm greeting from the GM. Additionally, a hotel associate went to the local Subway to retrieve us lunch. Needless, to say this level of service should not go unrecognized. We will definitely be returning to this property for our next stay in Greenville!

Checked in around 8:30pm on a Saturday night. Valet was quick and efficient, as was the front desk. Was upgraded (as a Platinum) to a junior suite without asking. My room (406) was large and comfortable, and the bed was very comfortable. While I was out to dinner (American Grocery is a must visit), the hotel left a gift basket and a plate of delicious cookies -- too many in fact. Check out was quick and simple, and valet delivered my vehicle expeditiously. While this is an older facility, the hotel has great bones and is a classic grand dame. Located in the center of downtown Greenville, and terrific service makes it even better.

You can't beat the Westin Poinsett in downtown Greenville for placing one in the action of this wonderfully revitalized SC upstate city. Bed was comfortable with all those pillows, in-room coffee prep station with Starbucks was an appreciated morning-starter, shower head was particularly pleasing, and view of city as day broke was worth price of admission. Noise level of next door room's neighbors,, however, was troubling to this travel-loving babyboomer.

The old Greenville flagship continues to uphold its reputation for comfortable elegance, and incomparable friendliness. Concierge Janice, Bellman Andre, Waitress Evelyn and so many others I can't name make the Poinsett warm and inviting. They even manage to make the parking challenge work! Great value in one of America's new hot cities.

An older hotel, with all the implied quirks, but still quite lovely, and a very good hotel in a spectacular locale (if you haven't been to Greenville, go ASAP!). Excellent service from the valet to the front desk to housekeeping.
Upgraded pre-arrival, quick and helpful check-in, and very reasonable valet parking for all of $15. Manager sent a welcome basket, a nice gesture. Large junior suite (1006), albeit with limited windows, if that matters to you, but very comfortable. Reasonable fitness facility. Prime location if you have an interest in downtown Greenville (and you should).
If you have the opportunity, American Grocery is very good.
