The Westin Diplomat at Hallandale Beach is a beautiful facility. The staff is completely capable and usually cordial. It is an idyllic albeit isolated location with no shopping or outside restaurants within an easy walk. While I attended a conference my wife felt quite isolated. Taxi prices in the area are high. The telephone system in the hotel is archaic and, for the room price, charging a "minimal" $12.95 for slow WIFI is a crime. I will recommend that my association find another location to hold its annual conference.

Free shuttle to/from golf course is unreliable. I put on hold for 15 minutes while calling hotel to resolve the problem, which eventually was resolved. The attendants at the golf course were not helpful in contacting the resort shuttle. A letter was left for me at the front desk, but I was never notified that it was there. If I had not asked about it at check, I would not have received it. The staff is definitely below the level I have experienced at other Westin hotels.

Design and cleanliness of common areas is fantastic, ample attentive and professional staff and amazing views of both the ocean and the Intracoastal.
We were convinced to take a double-queen in lieu of our reserved king because of upgraded views, but much to our disappointment the room was a double-double (didn't even know they had those anymore), so we had to Burt & Ernie it. TV would only come on 1/10 tries. Duvet covers and bed skirts very well worn. Strange sticky red stains on floor and bed skirt between beds (pasta sauce maybe). 1 (one!) usable outlet other than the vanity, and this outlet was not located near any table, desk or other usable surface.
I am hoping this is an aberration and would still definitely consider returning, that's just how nice this facility is otherwise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Skippy49 Dream vacation at a conference
When I attend conferences it is nice to have fine accommodations. What is very obvious in the few times our conferences have been held in a Westin property is the consistency that these hotels share in common. This allows my wife and me to experience a professional conference PLUS a wonderful few days of luxurious vacation at the same time. In fact, we are planning on adding an extra day to our next conference just to enjoy the facilities.

It was impossible to swim laps as there were a lot of children in the pool. The pool was also too warm. The customer service was very good. I would have liked to use the sauna in the spa prior to my swim and learned it was only available if I booked a service. I did book a facial which was expensive but good. I then used the too cool sauna.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Vanessa153 Excellent service
We loved the food served at our event. Staff was very polite and ready to provide an excellent service and always looking for feedback. The idea of having the personal passion on the name tags is a great conversation starter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by musicguy What a great hotel
This Westin is one of the nicest hotels I have ever visited. Beautiful hotel, palm trees in grand lobby, amazing pools, a nice beach. Only drawback is that there aren't other restaurant choices within close walking distance, and the cab ride was almost $70.
