Rated 4 out of 5 by One thing that might be improved In general, my stay at The Westin Diplomat fulfiled my expectations, except for two interactions with Staff, and I noticed that two persons are not as kind as the rest of the personnel. One at the Concierge and one Receptionist, both with (aparently) russian names, Tanja (Concierge) and the other one do not remember. The first I perceived as a cold (not warmth) dealing with customers, and the other one (Receptionist), I asked for a late check out, but her response was not kind at all, leting me know that were fully commited, instead of looking for another option. Everywhere I went was an employee to greet me with exception of little store and she was on phone working an issue the entire time I was attempting to make a purchase. Juan at check-in was great!. The operators, cleaning team members, door greeters, valet, bell station and concierge were all great~! July 4, 2013

Rated 3 out of 5 by Staff Training I was checking under a StarFriend Discounted Room. The front desk asked for my letter which I presented. They wanted to reject it due to the fact that a graphic at the top of the page did not display when it was printed. The format and wording was exactly the same as other letters they had to show me while I was standing at the front desk holding up other people waiting to check in. They then asked me to forward the email to them that was sent to me with the letter. I had to get out my computer, start it at the front desk, obtain an internet connection and then get into my email and forward the letter to your font desk attendant. The attendant then opened the attachment and had the same issue with the graphic at the top of the page not displaying. However it was now obvious that it came from an employee at a Starwood business. All of this was over about a $30 savings that the letter offered me for my one night stay. This inconvenience to me and the other guests waiting to check-in was extremely unprofessional, inconsiderate and degrading to imply that I may have created an exact replica of an invitation letter to save $30. I hope you take this experience seriously and provide the training necessary to your staff so that no other guest ever has to endure such embarrassing treatment. July 15, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good but not excellent The Westin Diplomat is a beautiful hotel in a great location in Hollywood, Florida. It is a bit of a walk into town, but the trolley stops right at the Westin and will take you down for only $1. Pools, beach and rooms are very nice, but the hotel is not quite up to par in several areas. First of all, they did not clean up the pool and beach areas at night. We would come down to the pool in the morning and there would be drinks and in one instance an entire dining table full of food and dishes, that was not taken away until after 9 am. Lots of seaweed on the beach, which was never raked. The walls to the rooms were also very thin. We could hear our next-door neighbor talking in a normal tone on his cell phone from midnight until 2 am one night. We couldn't complain, because he was talking in a normal voice in his own room. We still enjoyed our stay, but I just couldn't call the hotel anything extraordinary because of the issues I mentioned. It's too bad, because with some care it could be a really great hotel. Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful, large, elegant I so enjoyed my stay here. It is a lovely place. Suggestions: Have more than 2 staff members available at check, after 4 especially when there is a function or conference. The long wait to check in was slow and tired travelers were also hungry.. Fruit or ice tea at the check in would be a welcome. All else was splendid ! November 4, 2013

On Tuesday of my stay April 9, 2013, I ordered breakfast room service at approximately 7:30 in the morning - (not a big order mind you, fruit, pastry, bagels, coffee, water and soft drinks) - I explained and requested that it be delivered by 8:45-8:50 for a 9:00 meeting I was hosting in my suite. At 9:00 no show, I called at 9:10, they said another 8 to 10 minutes, I called at 9:25 and they said it was on its way .....The order was FINALLY delivered between 9:45 and 9:50, and at that point the meeting was finished and my guests had to leave for another meeting - I refused to sign for the order, and a few of us nibbled on what was delivered ..... This was very disheartening, and for that reason I can not recommend this hotel. The charge was $288.74. I mentioned my displeasure at check-out to the manager and he said he couldn't do anything, that it was another provider of some sort - didn't quite understand that? April 16, 2013

Rated 3 out of 5 by great location, could be cleaner We have stayed at the Westin Diplomat 5x during the past few years. It is well located, excellent beach and the food is good. However I would note on our most recent stay, the rooms were cleaned poorly, dust on the phones and the hallways were dirty. The hotel carpets are worn. The hotel is starting to have a tired look. Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Stay and friendly staff Stayed at the Diplomat for a couple days and enjoyed my stay. My stay started off rocky as no rooms were ready at 4pm when I was checking in. Fortunately it was only about a 30 minute wait, but other than this there were no issues. As a SPG gold member I was upgraded to a corner suite with views out every window. Great food selections and the Hollywood Prime had arguably the best steak I have ever had. Prices were reasonable for a high end steak house. Rivals Sports bar is your typical sports bar. Several TVs with games and a nice outdoor area to sit and eat. I was disappointed in the limited beer selection, but no big deal. Ate breakfast at the Cafe which was just OK and I was surprised to see that they automatically add gratuity to the bill. Neither Rivals or Hollywood Prime did this. I was also disappointed that they charge to print boarding passes, this is the first SPG property I have stayed at that did this. All in all it was a great stay and I would stay again. Rated 1 out of 5 by horrible hotel when we arrived at the hotel the Bell men just stood around and did not even offer to assist with the bags. As a gold member there was no one at the express gold memebr check and and we had to wait . Finally someone arrived and checked us in. The first room they gave us was in a poor state of repair the pot light rings were all rusted the sink and counters were dirty and the sheets on the made bed were visably stained We went down and asked to be moved to another room and we should have known then just to check out . The new room was also dirty and the halls filthy. We took pictures and in the 4 days there, no one vacumed the halls and the cleanliness was pathetic. The construction was poor so there must be little insulation in the walls and you could hear the baby next door crying almost each night as if they were in our room . When I meantioned the filth to the asst manager. It was as if they could not care less. I would not stay here even if they gave me a free week December 29, 2012

She assisted in every aspect of my and my wife's stay and ensured we had everything taken care of. A true asset to the company and someone anyone would enjoy talking with. April 19, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 Great beach but the hotel wasn't good Rooms were completely dirty, for the level of this hotel you should expect a lot more for the room, it is very small and as I wrote above very dirty, I travel like 20 times a year and stay in a lot of different hotels, this is one of those that I won't recommend and it is very probable that I will return. Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful Weekend We wanted a relaxing weekend and it was definitely achieved. The service was impeccable and friendly. I can't wait to go again! The only complaint we had was that we waited over an hour and a half after check-in time for our room but the staff definitely made up for it by upgrading our room. July 12, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Sleep on the floor The family were planing to celebrate New Year at this hotel. We booked and got confirmed that 2 adults and three kids was ok in a suite. When we arrived they missed to have an extra bed and the management way of solving this was to let one of the kids sleep on the floor or leave the hotel. March 5, 2013

I was told they could not do the few things I asked because they were so full, without any regard to finding other ways to help me...merely "sorry we cant do that"...Westins should be better! Rated 5 out of 5 by excellent service, excellent view We got upgraded to the club floor with ocean view, and it was fantastic. Everything was perfect. The food great. I recommend the HP steak house on the first floor. Australian Kobe Style steak will melt in your mouth. The swimming pool was not very clean, maybe because of too many people. March 15, 2012

Rated 1 out of 5 by My first Westin stay looking at the photos on the website I was really excited to stay at your Resort/Spa hotel however from the day of arrival I was truly disappointed. I was apart of a week-long conference in your hotel everything I requested/asked there was a charge a $3.00 charge to warm up food, a $1.00 for each wine glass you asked for. And the list goes on and on with many co-workers experienceing the same things as myself. I find in very poor taste to charge such insane prices' for things there I can't imagine you have many repeat guest's I thought the goal was for guests' to return to your property with more guest's due to the superb business you would have garnered from my visit. I have a large family and we travel often I will be bold to state for the record my stay will be one of my more most undesireable stays to date. Going forward I have a really bad taste and thoughts of The Westin Diplomat in Hollywood Florida I will never suggest this hotel to any of my freinds/family to stay here major changes' need to happen for me to return to this location. The room we had was right above the hotel vents and was noisy whenever we open the balcony door. Other than that we enjoyed the whole stay. July 6, 2013

Rated 3 out of 5 by Westin Diplomat I'm an SPG member, and have been for some time. I was recognized upon check in, but seem to never get a great room and/or upgrade. For example, when I made the reservation I requested an ocean view, I ended up on the other side of the hotel over the street. The TV didn't work, and needed four different maintenance guys to finally figure it out, that it wasn't the remote, the cables, the satellite, and it was just going bad and needed to be replaced. The bathroom door was off the hinge, and there was significant amount of dust and debris around the air vents. Personnel however were friendly and tried to accommodate. Door people were excellent! The place was mobbed with people, the pool area totally filthy and in disarray, that I could not even enjoy the outdoors.. Hotel was noisy and dirty.
