Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Staycation Ever My boyfriend and I live in Miami, we work really hard and carry a lot of stress so we decided to get away for the weekend and picked Westin Diplomat Hollywood Beach Resort. It was our first stay ever. Upon arriving there was a huge mix up with my reservation and they were charging me for an additional night which I didn't request and/or take advantage of. I was so upset (teary-eyed) that our staycation had already started stressing me out when that's what I came here to get away from. However, Dave in check-in acknowledged it was a sincere mix-up and saw how upset I got and immediately handled the mix-up. I really thought this was going to turn into a phone battle with customer service which is the LAST thing I wanted to deal with. After we got up to our room (deluxe suite) I immediately was so excited and impressed with our room that I forgot all about it. Throughout our stay, the facility was so amazing and the staff was incredible and polite and welcoming. We had another couple friends of ours join us for the day and they literally didn't want to leave. We had the BEST staycation ever. We will DEFINITELY be back for more weekend get-a-aways. So glad we chose this resort against others. Thank you for the great experience! May 20, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic Hotel My 5 day stay at this hotel was one great experience after another. Although there were almost always people in the check-in line, the line moved quickly. The check-in staff was courteous, enthusiastic and accommodating. We also dealt with valet parking, luggage and concierge staff and had only pleasant experiences with each of them. When we arrived at the resort at 12am and told the bellhop that we wanted to go swimming he immediately volunteered to get us towels since the pool attendent would not be on duty at that hour. He promptly brought us the extra towels and we enjoyed an exhilirating warm midnight swim in the gorgeous pool(s). The room was very nice; I was on the 10th floor with a balconey overlooking the ocean. I cannot describe the beauty, the smells and the experience of drawing wide the drapes in the morning to the brilliant sun rising over the beach and the lapping waves. At any given time cleaning crews were visible milling around the resort keeping things in tip top shape. Housekeeping staff were friendly and brought us extra towels and amenities upon request very quickly. I put in a request on my 3rd day that the toilet flusher wasn't working and it was immediately repaired. We were a bit crowded in a double room (2 adults and 2 kids) so try to get a suite if you can afford it! We were treated royally at the spa and thoroughly enjoyed the Hope package and the magnificent relaxation room thereafter. We took the trolley $1) twice to the broadwalk; we found it very convenient. Valet staff was terrific; although they were always very busy, you could call down from your room ahead of time and they would have the car waiting for you by the time you got down. We found that it was well worth the $5 extra (the difference between valet and self-park) for valet. There were free water and pretzels available in the lobby and at the Splash bar (near the pool/beach) almost all day. We bought delectable pina coladas and strawberry daquiries. People were enjoying delicious looking lunches there but since we eat only kosher we had to refrain. There is a Starbucks located right in the lobby which also offers fresh fruit. We found plenty of first rate kosher restaraunts short driving distances from the hotel. There was also a Chabad synagogue 5-7 minute walking distance from the hotel that offered a full Kiddush Shabbos morning after services. Although we were there in the beginning of February, we had sunny weather with high 70's low 80's every day. The beach was clean; we swam in the ocean and rented jet skis right in front of the hotel - it was loads of fun. The pool had plenty available lounge chairs every one of the days that we were there. I highly recommend this hotel for couples, families, business meetings; just about for anyone that wants to be treated royally and make the most of sunny Florida. February 11, 2014

Rated 3 out of 5 by unfortunately unsatisfactory Checked into rm 2065 at about 5pm on March 8th. Everything was fine and acceptable initially. My family and I went downstairs for a quick dip in the pool and noticed an incredibly strong cigar / cigarette smell as soon as we got off the elevator about an hour later. To our horror the smell contaminated our room as well. We asked to change rooms due to the strong smell and we were switched to rm #1265 at about 10pm. I bumped into a security guard "Maurice" who was sent to investigate the smell and he mentioned that it was overwhelming and that an outside cleaning crew that specializes in fumigation was being brought in to correct it. I cannot fault the hotel if a bunch of yahoos break the rules by smoking cigars. I can however find major fault with the way this unfortunate scenario was handled. Note that no bellman was sent to assist us and we had to haul all our stuff ourselves. It became immediately clear that this room was nowhere near as clean as the previous room. The biggest problem was the bathtub was filthy. A night manager came to see it and spent an hour scrubbing it (while my wife was in the room with our sleeping kids). Is it the hotel policy to have staff in the room cleaning while guests are present? This was beyond awkward and unacceptable. March 15, 2012
