Rated 3 out of 5 Good hotel, poor execution Stayed at the Princeton Westin just before hurricane Sandy. This is our second stay, came to visit our daughter at Princeton. This hotel has all the makings to be a very good hotel, but the staff execution and management planning was obviously lacking. We were given access to the free coffee and continental breakfast on the 6th floor. There were no signs directing us to it when we exited the elevator. When we found it, it turned out to be no bigger than a closet, 5 woman in bathrobes completely filled the room, they proceeded to touch every piece of food, then broke the coffee machine. Went downstairs to the coffee bar and paid for two coffees. When we returned from our day at Princeton at 6 PM, the room had not been cleaned. Upon inquiry, they responded that we had put out our "green" card on the door – not true. So, we were invited to wait in the bar and receive a free drink. The only waiter, ignored us and only provided drinks after the front desk intervened upon our request. All of these issues could easily be solved with better management planning and execution. We'll come back, but our expectations are significantly lower. November 1, 2012

Rated 4 out of 5 by nice staff, good restaurant, everything works, tired rooms We stay in this hotel almost every week as my husband is relocated to Princeton temporarily. The hotel is at a convenient location. The executive lounge is convenient. The restaurant is surprisingly good but qualities are inconsistent. Staff is very friendly and goes out of their way to be helpful, although not always successful. Here's a good example about service at this hotel. I forgot my sonic toothbrush during one stay. When I called to ask, the cleaning crew actually turned it in to the office (great) so I told them I'd pick it up the following week. The following week came, the front desk knew nothing about it (not so great). After asking around, they said the manager had it in his office (great) but he was out. Several hours later I still did not have my toothbrush (not so great). Then they said they'd send someone to a drugstore to buy one for me (great). The drug store did not have it. So they promised they'd buy one and send it to my house. I indeed received a toothbrush a week later (great), except it was the wrong model: not only it was a cheaper model, it also uses a different brush head which means all my stocked brush heads are useless now. I still have to buy my own toothbrush which does not make me happy. I was quite impressed that the staff tried hard to solve my problem, in particular actually did buy me a toothbrush. I very much appreciated the effort. On the other hand, my toothbrush should not have gotten lost in the manager's office to begin with, and the follow-up correction was not executed well and ended up costing me anyway. The rooms are definitely below average in SPG hotels. They are functional, but they are dirty (stains on carpets and walls). I have not had one room without at least one fly. Heating system is bad: noisy; no way to turn it off; and worst of all, does not heat up the room effectively. It really gets cold in the room. Sheets and towels are adequate but they are not quality items. February 17, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by 12 day stay This hotel needs a lot of improvement. Here are my findings from check in to check out during my 12 day: 1) check-in, I was told that there are no-rooms available, but my co-worker who tried to check in after me we offered a room if she wanted it- which she declined. Only after finding out about the offer, I came back and asked for that room, which they gave me. 2) On the 3rd day, when I first allowed the servicing of my room, it was cleaned, but the toilet paper with a about a foot left on was not replaced, and no new shampoo, conditioner or lotion was replaced either even after she took the $3 tip. 3) waiting at their parallel restaurant to be seated, I waited 10 minutes, then went to the front desk to ask if there was anyone working- which the front desk person called someone to come and seat me. On another night, at the Lattitudes lounge- essentially a waiting area in the lobby, the waiter was fast asleep at the corner table. I waited 15 minutes to realize he was sleeping on the job, so I again had to seek the help of the front desk to wake the guy up. 4) and at the fitness enter, 3 of the treadmills were not working properly- the one left was. There were no towels and nobody around to ask for help. The sanitizing wipes were both empty. On another night, while running, this housekeeper comes in and starts spraying down the floor creating noxious smells while i was running. I stopped and kindly asked that he wait to clean, so he moved to about 10 feet away and kept cleaning, Needless to say, i stopped. I was not the only one in my company to report the same kind of problems. Please improve your services, even if you know our company is going to continue booking us at your hotel. Good grief. Rated 5 out of 5 by I love this hotel Thought I'd write a comprehensive review after staying here several weeks in a row. This hotel meets and exceeds my needs in a variety of ways. I first want to highlight the incredible staff who go above and beyond every time to make sure I am comfortable. Shoutout to the manager Wisam who does pretty much everything he can to make me feel welcome and accomodated. When I mentioned that I wanted bigger coffee cups, he started having them waiting in my room every week. He makes last minute reservations for me with a smile. The front desk staff are also amazing. Deoine (sp?) always goes above and beyond, helping me with matters as small as SPG points, mailing envelopes, room changes and types, and getting my packages. My mail is always waiting in my room, without any mix ups, when I arrive, which just makes my life so much easier, because I know I can trust the front desk to take care of it. I have never been disattisfied with the service at this hotel. A few trivial compliments and concerns about the facilities. The elevators were strugglin for awhile there, and they replaced one, which now works flawlessly. High five on that one. The "business center" is tiny, but useful. I did some major scanning on the "scan to email" machine and it worked well. It was free of charge (but they charge for the other machines, such as the printer, which I think is fair). The one downside: the "executive lounge" is not a lounge. It is a to-go breakfast bar that consistently looks picked through. I wish wish wish this place had a real lounge with some hot choices. It would make this hotel my #1 all the time, forever. I do like the coffee though. They have a brewing machine that always produces fresh stuff. Other than that, LOVE this place. Will stay here basically forever. Shoutout to all the staff. They know what's up and how to make people feel welcome. April 17, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Comfortable Hotel but had issues This was my first stay at a Westin hotel and also my first ever business trip. The room and amenities are very nice and clean. The gym was amazing and is open 24/7. There are also cooled towels and various yoga type of exercise equipment. The pool is both indoor and outdoor and is also open year-round. I used the pool just once but had a great time, it's pretty big and warm. However, the pool does not have a restroom or shower for changing which can be a problem. Most people just walk to the gym's restroom for changing. I was upgraded to a business suite on the top floor and it is okay. Same size as most hotels I believe. The room has a comfortable desk for working and great views from the window. The bed is excellent and slept perfectly all four nights. The free in-room Wi-Fi like most hotels are just terrible and slow. However, I did experience some issues. The bathtub's drain does not close completely, making it hard to take a bath. It will leak water down even when closed. The only option is to keep the water running while taking a bath. I did contact the front desk about the issue to fix it but nothing changed when I checked the following day. One night when I returned to my room, the staff had forgot to clean my room. I had to contact the front desk to send a maid for cleaning which required me to wait another hour before I could go to sleep. The staff did mention that I'd be given Starwood points for the hassle but I never received the points until I called them back a week later. The location is quite convenient. it is a short 10 min drive to Princeton University and lots of parking is available. It is located in a small cozy mall-like village. However, I was unable to find any restaurants within walking distance other than a formal attire steakhouse. Overall, I had a great stay without major issues. The staff is friendly and nice but I did run into problems as noted above. I would stay again in the future if I were to travel to Princeton. November 21, 2013
