Rated 4 out of 5 by First visit........but not my last I work internationally and travel 9 months out of the year globally, not just to Europe or South America. I stayed at The Westin Cape Town on Lower Long Street for eight days in April, 2014. I contacted the hotel prior to my arrival to request an upgrade and I was assured that my room would be upgraded. The hotel immediately recognized my SPG status at check in and showed me to a wonderful executive level room with a great view of the V & A Waterfront. The service and the value for the money was fantastic, and a special shout out to the dining and housekeeping staff, specifically Mr. Keith Yeates, the night dining supervisor. I like things spicy, and he always made sure I had my chili pepper! =;~) The single thing that made the evenings a bit uncomfortable was that the thermostat was somewhat imprecise as to temperature. It allowed the room temperature to fluctuate too much for my liking. All in all, one of the best Westin properties I've stayed at. April 15, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Still needs improving! I stayed here in 2010 while attending a conference, and chose to do so again for another conference at the CTICC. I had reserved an executive room with a king size bed, and got one with twin beds. It was changed the next day, but to a room on a SPG floor instead of an executive floor. The SPG desk remained unmanned throughout my stay, meaning that we had to join the general queue (why have a preferred desk if it's not used?). On the one occasion that I went to the executive lounge, the receptionist was so frosty I did not return. All in all, this is a nice hotel, but it failed to reach the standards that I associate with the Westin brand. April 19, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by The Right Hotel Matters I was recently in Cape Town to work for 15-days. The Westin made the trip so much better. They had everything I needed for work, and they were the perfect location for the little relaxation I had! The staff were gracious and accommodating, and the service top notch. I highly recommend the hotel for both work and leisure travel. March 31, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by internet is pathetic at best OK, let me begin with all the positives as this is my third time staying here. - Hotel is really nice. Rooms are great and the location is good too. - Exec club is really good. -they also have a shuttle that takes you to the waterfront which is nice service. Negative: is their internet service is horrible! I couldn’t get it in my room for 3 days after complaining for 3 straight days. Finally, got it to work on the 4th day. Not even sure why I tried in the first place since it was at a snail’s pace when they got it to work in my room. I then went to the lobby and had the same experience. I cannot stay here again until they fix the speed and their internet since I go for business. It’s a shame since I like the hotel even though it’s not as close to my office as other hotels. However, I must stay at these other places unless this gets fixed. If you don’t need internet, then I do encourage you to stay here. September 10, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not great 2 Areas that were frustrating. I needed only 1 hour delayed check out so I could attend a conference closing before changing for a long flight home. After finally reaching the front desk, the staff said nothing was possible - not even 30 mins. First time in 30 years I've not been allowed such a request. Point 2 - Internet: I had to input a 16 diget code countless times (at least 30 times). Anytime I moved (for meals, betw conf rooms, up to my room). And sometimes, it would then come back as alerady used. I went through about 10 codes in 3 days October 1, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best brekkie! A contemporary, comfortable hotel with high quality amenities and rooms. Good location, with a frequent shuttle service to the V&A waterfront. Staff was very helpful in assisting with a last-minute car rental during peak season and provided good dining recommendations. By far, the highlight of this hotel is the spectacular breakfast on the top floor, offering 360° views of the Cape Town waterfront, Table Mountain, World Cup Stadium and Lion's Head. The breakfast options included in the buffet are exquisite and plentiful, ranging from yoghurt parfait to incredible fresh fruit, pastries, bread and cheese and even sushi! Lovely, would return. Rated 5 out of 5 by 5 star in great location with stunning views This is what a five star hotel should be like and I would certainly recommend upgrading to the executive club which gives the benefits of a higher floor and access to the club lounge where we enjoyed the best breakfasts ever. All the staff are exceptionally helpfull and friendly. The tour bus stops just outside the hotel and they also run a complimentry shuttle to the VA waterfront. If your down the waterfront and want a snack/meal in great surroundings then do try the Cape Grace as its very relaxing and good value. March 6, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Hotel and Fantastic Service My wife and I travelled to Cape Town for a wedding in April 2011 and stayed at this Westin for 10 nights. The hotel was quite nice and the service was amazing. We were upgraded to the Executive Level and the daily breakfast here was delicious. What was even more memorable was the excellent service, friendliness and attentiveness of the employees. We still talk about the service we received and have yet to have it matched at another hotel February 13, 2012
