The helpfulness of the day staff needs to be addressed and perhaps learn better from the evening staff; which were terrific! If we were coming to Tampa again we would stay at this location again. Rated 1 out of 5 by Bad manager in the Hotel They didn't tell me that the breakfast was going to be charged. I speak with the manager of the hotel and he lied me! I He never accept the mistake! Also they charge in the kids breakfast extra milk. In wich planet the kids breakfast doesn't includes milk?? The total amount for the breakfast was $93. (2 adults and 3 kinds 7 years, 3 year & 2 years. Do you think that is fare???? April 1, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great location For my trip, it was the perfect location - close to the airport and in between north tampa and clearwater. Loved the view, property was clean, service overall very nice. room was very clean, bed was comfy, servers were great - especially the bartender. Challenges - parking! The parking by the lobby was totally blocked by buses. I didn't even realize there was valet parking for a day or so. I self parked in a dark lot , in the rain and hauled my luggage in. And the parking for valet or self was the same price. House keeping was a bit off the game. Not until I was drenched in the shower did I realize there was no shampoo. I climbed out wet. Later, the dryer was broken - prongs obviously weren't working. They promptly brought me another one that kept tripping the outlet. So service came. A lot of time wasted on washing/drying short hair. I did love the soap and lotions though Oh, and no electrical outlets by the bed. Good thing I brought extension cord for my cpap machine. Overall, very nice. March 31, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by A Great Stay Every Time! I live an hour north of Tampa and stay here frequently when I visit the area for concerts, meetings and flights. In more than a dozen stays, The Westin Tampa Bay has always exceeded expectations. The Front Desk staff is warm and friendly and goes the extra mile in meeting my requests. The rooms and public areas are spotless - I have never seen anything out of place. The location is ideal. It is minutes from the airport(a 15 minute shuttle), near the junction of several expressways, not too far from downtown and on the causeway that leads to nearby Ruth Eckerd Hall (a great concert venue) and Clearwater Beach. The rooms are very comfortable and offer terrific up close views of Tampa Bay and mid distance views of air traffic into Tampa International and the lights of downtown. I've seen schools of dolphin a number of times from my room. The small, manmade beach on site is OK for sunning but other beaches are better and nearby. Jet skies and powerboats are available at the hotel for rental. The food is not bad but it is overpriced for the portions you receive - don't eat here if you are hungry. In particular, the calamari appetizer, while stylish, is tiny. There are many good options nearby. I've averaged more that 125 nights a year since 1981 in international business and leisure travel. For its type (domestic city / airport hotel), The Westin Tampa Bay is one of my favorites. A good value and highly recommended! December 6, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great property I just returned from the Westin Tampa and had a great stay. It's a very nice property located on the causeway going towards Clearwater just 5 minutes from the Tampa airport. I'm a SPG Platinum member. There were no suites available, but I was given a room on the top floor (club level). I was only able to use the club lounge one night as it is closed on the weekends, but it is very nice and has a great view of the bay and downtown Tampa. Note: Ask for a room with a tub and you will get a room with a much larger bathroom that includes a separate tub and shower. The hotel has an excellent bar/restaurant called Aqua. The bar has an outdoor area the fronts on the small, but very nice manmade beach. The food there is excellent for a hotel restaurant! There is also a large 24 hour indoor pool and jacuzzi that was always empty. On-site Valet parking is $5 per day. Hotel has a free airport shuttle, but you will want to rent a car, as there is nothing within walking distance of the property. Overall, it's a clean, comfortable hotel with very friendly staff. I will return on my next visit to Tampa. March 8, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great service Picked this hotel for the location being close to the airport. I needed a very early checkin and was accomadated. All the hotel staff we encountered were exceptional! Friendly and helpful. Beautiful room, great views. Room service food was above average. Two things I had a problem with..the sheets on the bed were not the same as I expected from the heavenly bed collection. They were very rough and stiff. Uncomfortable to say the least. Also, a staff member started to open the door to our room unexpectedly. Don't know why. I heard the key and went to the door before she came in all the way. However, I would recommend this hotel and use it again but make sure the sheets were changed. February 5, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Westin yet Many Westin stays overthe years as Strwood SPG member. Chosen becuse dogs allowed. Join SPG if you haven't Upgrade to delux king.Special attention. Perfect. HUGE bath and verybright lites in bath. 3 year old hotel. Great views floors 8 and up..Private elevator fo guest elevator upper floors. Only invenience mising is empty fridge in room. No groups or noise. But ask first to save yourslf that grief. Best restaurant-grill- and not as expensive as it looks. Named Aqua. 2 full diners $95.00. That does not include any wine, booze. Those comfortable Starwood beds. Only Starwood hotel while in Tampa.On Causeway. $5 valet parking garage if desired. Self park (lts too) No gift shop. 1 hotel restaurant. Nothing walkable for eating. Rated 5 out of 5 by Another great stay at Weston Tampa Bay It's always nice to come back to a hotel and consistently see the same group of employees. They do their best to remember you, from the front desk team to those in the hotel restaurant/bar. The rooms are clean, have a nice view and what I appreciate the most, walk in to a cool room with the A/C on, vs some other places where you walk in to a stuffy and humid room you need to immediately cool down. The only disappointment this time around was a constantly barking dog next door to me, starting at 5:15am and never let up. Let's see how the team at the hotel acknowledge my loyalty with follow-up regarding this disappointment this time around. I say this as a dog lover with many at home, this was irritating. Otherwise, another consistent stay and will most likely be back...with my dogs in tow. March 12, 2014

Rated 1 out of 5 by Bad New Years Eve package We booked the New Years Eve package. Had to call down to the front desk to receive our strawberries and Champagne. Went to the 9:00 seating for dinner, my husband 1st received the wrong salad but ate it anyway. He then received the wrong dinner too, but this time sent it back. Everyone around us was receiving the wrong dinners and it became a big joke to everyone. And to top it off when we went to check out they told us we owed an additional $220.00 for dinner which was to be included in the package. They did take it off, but it should have NEVER been on the bill. Overall, a bad experience and we will not be staying there again. January 2, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by one of the better Westins around... i cannot say enough great things about this hotel - i stayed last Saturday for one night. the staff was very friendly, helpful, and efficient. great recognition as a platinum. the hotel looks brand new although it is a couple years old. will never stay at a different starwood when in tampa again. very convenient to get everywhere! Rated 5 out of 5 by Stay Here at The Westin Tampa and BE HAPPY This is the best hotel, hands down in the Tampa area. It's very close to the Tampa airport and the hotel itself is run with the accuracy of a fine Swiss watch. The hotel manager, Scott, is very attentive and has hired a tip-top staff that will take care of every detail and request that you could possibly think of. We have stayed at this hotel on and off over the past three years and they have never missed a beat. Do yourself a favor, don't waste time searching for a better place in Tampa because it's right here at the Westin Tampa Bay. December 19, 2012

What's worse, it will be very very very difficult to deal with once it happens. Both the receptionists (some are insufficiently trained apparently) and the "so-called" managers are not friendly/respectful/professional so to speak. An exception for this hotel brand. Rated 3 out of 5 by The resort is clean Overall, the hotel has some nice features such as the room décor and amenities, Starbucks in the lobby, nice offerings from room service, nice bedding and nice shower. The room was very clean but the hallway needed to have the carpet edged. I was disappointed in the staff's lack of friendliness and courtesy. The hotel was not busy at all so there was plenty of time to "wow" the guest with friendly service. The room service girl was the exception and she was very friendly, bellman who brought our luggage down at checkout was good too. Valet was efficient but not friendly most of the time.. I opted for the no room cleaning which was nice to get the voucher for food service, however, when I called for cups and creamer I ended up going into the hall and finding a housekeeper because it took over 20 minutes for someone to come, again the hotel was not busy so didn't understand that. The TV channels kept cutting out/poor reception and trying to watch TV was disappointing. Upon arriving to our room I hit the concierge button to see if there were other views we could look at and I ended up calling them back after 30 minutes of not getting a call back. When I booked my reservation it included complimentary valet but I ended up having to point that out and had to be credited back. I was annoyed by being asked to pay a $3 upcharge for a PB&J sandwich because I was over 12 even though there was no portion difference and I ordered other items off the menu. The room service menu was outdated because they no longer offer crème brulee. I did appreciated that there wasn't a significant upcharge in the mini bar offerings and I would venture to say you probably sell more that way than most places that really gouge the guests. The keys didn't work well and I had to return to have them recoded. The elevators sounded almost scary to get on(other guests commented on that as well). I am in the hospitality industry as well so I know what to look for. I visit Tampa frequently and generally stay at a neighboring hotel but wanted to try out the Westin since I have heard so many positive things. I think what really is disappointing to me is that on two occasions it appears there was a gentleman whom I perceived to be a supervisor/mgr with the front desk staff and did not appear to be encouraging the staff engage with the guests. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Stay I have previously stayed at this hotel in the past for business. I chose this property for a 5 night stay with my wife + 22 yr old daughter. Everything regarding the hotel property + staff were excellent. The location was also excellent as it was approx 20-30 minutes to Cleawater Beach, near the airport + Intl Mall + near 1-4 if you want to go to Lakeland, Orlando etc I read some reviews prior to booking this extended family vacation + they are mostly positive. I believe the few negative ones were isolated incidents or petty. I travel a lot on business so I have a lot of experience with the good the bad + the ugly. Once again this was a great stay + met + exceeded all expectations. March 6, 2013

The hotel is perfectly located by the international mall and most importantly every employee we had the chance to talk to provided us with excellent customer service. I enjoyed the convenience of the lounge on the 15th floor with hors d'oeuvres in the evening and breakfast in the morning. Champagne & chocolate covered strawberries were in the room when we checked in. February 24, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Guest Services Manager - Inexperienced and Rude This was my first time staying at this hotel and I did not realize that it was a pay for parking situation. After speaking with the valet attendant upon arrival, I found that the self-parking was the same cost of valet parking, so naturally I chose to valet my vehicle. I usually don't carry cash on me and was planning on getting some from an ATM on Monday after work so I would have money to tip but did not have any on Monday morning when I was leaving the hotel. On Monday morning as I was getting into my vehicle, the valet attendant grumbled, "Cheap B$*t**d" under his breath as he was closing my car door. I was shocked at this moment and should have confronted him then but decided to wait until I returned from work since I was running late for a meeting. When I returned to the hotel that evening, the first thing I did was approach the front desk inquiring to speak to a manager so I could report this incident. That's when the "guest services manager" approached me and asked if he could help. I told him about the incident and then he did not offer any apology or even thought I was telling the truth. I did not receive a formal apology pertaining to this incident at all. The next day, Tuesday, I approached the "guest services manager" asking if there has been any progress with the incident I reported since I have not heard any update since the report. He goes on to tell me that he is waiting for the valet manager to come in since he didn't work that day and then goes on to say the following which I felt was very offensive! "I don't mean to call you a liar, or anything, but to hear that coming out of that individuals mouth would be shocking." Seriously?!?!?! In this statement, this "Manager" called me a liar to my face. One thing I would like to make clear is that I am not a liar because that would be ridiculous to lie about something like this. After this situation, I was very upset and figured that I would just have to escalate this situation because it seems that this property doesn't care about their guests and just believes that their associates can do no wrong. There are other SPG properties that will treat their guests with respect in the Tampa area, this is apparently not one of them. December 14, 2012

Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Staff ever From the first moment I began my trip in FL your staff was amazing and accommodating my needs and being friendly. Justin at the front desk Is beyond superb and when he called my room to see how many strawberry's I needed he even used code so my girlfriend had no idea what was going on and I was able to order what I wanted and still surprise her. The Room service staff Sierra was also extremely polite, professional and exceptional. Customer service is what keeps people coming back and your hotel did an amazing job. thank you for making our stay perfect February 3, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Hotel a little disappointing. Rooms were small with double bed and one chair plus a desk chair. Virtually no where to eat in room. Hallways very warm and ice machine so hot the ice in the machine was melting. Room service, basically NO one spoke English. No real refrigerator, just a very expensive stocked bar. They were offering to keep ice packs frozen for my wifes' LSI surgery but that was not done well and I had to fill the sink with ice. My wife is in bed with back surgery and I am coming up from downstairs to find a crew of men banging on doors to change something on the door without any notice and my wife opens the heavy door which she wasn't supposed to do. Staff very attentive but hotel stay a real disappointment. Would not come back and pay the extra money for less space. Been in better places for a lot less and that was with an LSI discount! Rated 5 out of 5 by great hotel Love the location & greeting by the valet as soon as you drive up. Shuttle to airport is convenient. Nice Westin green tea smell upon entering and quick check in right by the door. Had a bit of difficulty with getting fan to stop blowing - tech returned a couple of times - problem is with system so had to shut off when it got too bad. Other than that and a couple of minor room cleanliness issues, I enjoy the restaurant and location here - close to airport. February 11, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Welcoming While this is primarily a business hotel, we stayed there on a recent Saturday for a quick get-away. The front desk recognized us as past guests and my platinum status and upgraded us to a lovely suite with gorgeous views of Tampa Bay. Dinner at Aqua, the hotel restaurant service was relaxed and friendly with food that is pretty sophisticated for the Tampa area. Here too, they delivered complimentary desserts and, upon learning it was my birthday, a card as well. Really nice touches all around! July 24, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Terrible Experience Restaurant was horrible - took over 2 hours to get our food which we never ended up getting. Had to basically serve ourselves going back and forth to the bar. We were served warm beer and ended up leaving to eat at the Chart house so our kids could finally get some food. Manager was rude and non apologetic. The room did not have extra sheets for the pull out couch. We wanted to put our kids to bed at 7:30, called for sheets at this time and the sheets did not arrive to our room until after 8:30. We had to call 3 times for the sheets...our kids ended up going to bed an hour and a half past their bedtime - we had to get up early the next day. We originally thought the room was clean - until my son dropped a ball under the entertainment system and saw about 10 cough drop wrappers left there (I am sure the amount of dust will give you an indication of how long it's been there - room 916.) The shower leaked leaving a HUGE puddle in the bathroom (we needed to use our towels to soak up the floor. Overall the stay was a waste. We left all day on Sunday just to stay away from the hotel. Rated 1 out of 5 by Very disappointed First of all I requested an early check in I AND UPGRADE TO VIP I understand the room was not ready so we went to the Bar to eat lunch an hour later still no room Later that night I asked for a menu 20 minutes later called again and was told we forgot about you. Day of check out I requested to purchase a robe nobody could help with that went to Breakfast the order was taken and when we got it it was all wrong went to check out still nobody could help with getting me a robe to purchase then I noticed a mistake on my Bill the girl at the desk was so rude she should not be at her job won't go into details the whole experience was awful keep in mind I have stayed here before but never again January 19, 2014
