Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Hotel and Rate, but Far From City The nightly rates and free parking help even out the inconvenience of being so far from downtown Chicago (half-hour drive on the highways, likely to hit tolls) if that's what you will primarly do during the course of your stay. Otherwise, very clean and conveniently located for other needs. The Target is literally next door in case you need to purchase anything at all. I don't shop while on vacation, but the mall is next door, too, with a movie theater. Nothing locally-oriented as far as restaurants - typical suburbia with chain restaurants that close before 11pm (a problem because we didn't arrive at our hotel until around midnight on the first night without having dinner). The staff was genuinely cordial, the room was very clean, the size of our room was suitable (the closet was just a little smaller than I was expecting), and bathroom was spotless (shower only, we didn't want a tub). Good Morning, I was most discouraged to find the more difficult needs of a Starwood Preferred Guest were met on my recent visit (Price, Cleanliness, and Comfort) but your staff clearly dropped the ball notably on the easy things: Customer Service or at least acting like they care about your guests? As a result, I would not recommend your hotel. My frustration/disappointment stems from (1) Not being accommodated with a room on the same floor as the other 13 families we were traveling with when the reservation was made a month in advance, (2) The fuss made over allowing us to bring equipment (hockey sticks) to our room and out of the cold weather from our car, (3) The general attitude and arrogance of the staff in discussing both issues above, and (4) The extended wait and marginal proficiency at the front desk left a great deal to be desired. On item #1 above, your team member tried to “BS” me and move me along as as opposed to being open, honest, and interested in my problem. I do not appreciate the lack of professionalism and was reminded why my hotel selection very infrequently includes Starwood properties. I came back for convenience this weekend and to give your group a chance to re-earn my business; you earned a “C” at best but again the sad thing is you do the hard things very well. I travel both for work and with my family and estimate our annual night stay in a hotel at between 25 and 35 annually. I recognize I can/will not always be fully accommodated HOWEVER when it is not possible I expect (at the very least) professional and cordial response and discussion; I got neither from your team this past weekend. At no point during my stay did I ever express my frustration beyond courteous discussion, become unreasonable, rude, or ever raise my voice with your staff. That said I will very simply choose to take both my work travel and my family leisure travel elsewhere; your competitors treat me as a valued customer on a level your team could not understand. Rated 5 out of 5 by A home away from home I am a frequent traveler and must say the Service and Staff at this hotel are among the very best.. I feel well taken care of from the moment I make my reservation to the end of my stay. I am always greeted by a very friendly Bell staff who can arrange for a local trip in one of the Westin vans and are always happy to help. It is a busy hotel - yet it never feels crowded and you never feel rushed by of those attending to you. A very enjoyable place to be, if you cannot be at home. January 19, 2013

The Hotel Staff is very pleasant and accommodating to the guests. Very clean and quiet. Great beds. Good restaurants right in hotel! Walking distance from other stores too if you dont have a car. Rated 2 out of 5 by Inconsistent Service and Platinum Acknowledgement Nice hotel for the area; however, service was inconsistent and did not meet the minimum service standards that I've experienced at other Westin Hotels. Platinum member (6 plus years) with 3 night stay that was not offered Starwood guest floor, no water in the room, and no newspaper delivered. Coffee maker had previous coffee filter left in machine each day of my stay. I also had to call to get the safe fixed. When I went down to front desk on my second night to get water, I asked why I was not put on the Starwood guest floor and why I was not receiving water or newspaper. The front desk staff member provided me with water and apologized but could not explain deficiencies. The next morning I did receive a newspaper, but no further newspapers or water were delivered during my stay. January 11, 2013

Rated 1 out of 5 by sad excuse i arrived for a 4 night stay at the westin in lombard from north carolina. I am inthe military and was visiting family there. Due to traffic being fantastic on my way up i arrived around 3 in the morning the day i was due to check in. so i paid alittle extra to check in early.when i reserved my room i asked for a roll away and a crib they said it was fine i also requested a late check out they said they sometimes have a 3 pm check out which they would confirm with my upon arrival. when i arrived the gentleman at the front desk confirmed that i had a 3 pm check out on sunday afternoon. I was also told that i could not have the roll away i was promised but they were able to give me the crib. I said thats fine although i was unhappy without the roll away. on saturday the day before i was expected to check out i called to confirm that i had a 3 pm check out with the front desk and they literally laughed in my face and told me no. as if i was saying something unusual. I asked to speak with the manager she told me she was a manager and was very rude. when i explained that the gentleman who i checked in with confirmed the 3 pmcheck out she told me i was lying and refused to give me her name. so i went downstairs to speak with them in person. I spoke with a male manager at that time who also questioned me as if i was lying and told me that he cant give me a 3 pm check out but he will give me a 2 pm check out, and he said that he will talk to the man who checked me in and if it turns out i wasnt lying he would give me the 3 pm check out. I was shocked at being spoken to so abrasively. the next morning we ended up having something urgent come up that caused us to stay another night. Upon check out on monday we called down to the front desk to ask them to bring us a luggage cart, they brought it when i asked them to leave it so we could load up in peace since i had my 1 1/2 year old daughter to contend with while trying to load they were rude and told me of course they cant leave it. and the gentleman said ill come back when you are "really" ready. I was so upset at this point i just carried all my own luggage myself to the car. They were so rude it was shocking. but it doesnt stop here! I recieved a call from a manager named Emily, who told me she was checking up on my recent stay. I explained all that had happened while i was there and she seemed very understanding and wanted to make it right. she offered me enough points on my star rewards for a 2 nights stay. I was happy with that and agreed. It has been 2 months since this visit i called to reserve a room again at a different westin and i wanted to use the 2 night stay for part of my stay to which i was informed that they never credited those points to my account. I am very upset, I called a week ago and left a msg with the manager Emily who I had spoken with originally, she never called me back. When i called again today i was told she wasnt there again. I asked when she would be in so i could call then. The woman said she didnt know and transfered me to a different managers voicemail. This is seriously one of the worst experiences i have ever had. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Stay The Westin Lombard had everything expected for a suburban business hotel and provided good SPG recognition. Received a great plat upgrade and the light breakfast in the lounge was good. Hotel is clean, comfortable, has two nice restaurants in the lobby (Harry Carry's and a seafood place) and is right near a major shopping center with plenty of dining and shopping options. Rated 3 out of 5 by Disappointed We stayed at this location for 6 nights. Overall, the hotel was adequate but the rooms were a bit beaten up (we had two adjoining rooms). There were leftover decorations on the walls; a rust stain on the bathtub ledge from a prior customer's shaving cream can; random "stains" on shower tiles; and the handle to the tub nearly came off in my hand. One room was handicap accessible and they used the rail by the toilet as the towel rack. One night I returned to find new towels left on bed but the beds not made nor the bathroom cleaned. We paid extra for access to breakfast and happy hour in the Executive Level Lounge and were greeted by a series of surly hostesses who made us feel like our presence was a burden. On top of all of this, they wanted $9.99/day for wi-fi - regardless of my negotiating. January 6, 2013

The staff is friendly, and eager to be of assistance - the restaurants inside the hotel are always good, the accomodations are "heavenly", and the waterfall shower was a plus this time! Rated 3 out of 5 by Only stay if it isn't raining it would seem This hotel seems to be going downhill in terms of both service a the building quality. When I first arrived to check, I was stood there for 15-20 mins whilst the only person on the desk was browsing the internet with a guest. No attempt to acknowledge I was there or attempt to call call someone else to help. Eventually a second person arrived after noticing the queue and started the checkin process. The lack of staff during the day at this hotel seems to be an on-going problem. On the second day I was there it rained and I found that my executive club room leaked like a sieve. I told maintenance, who duly left a message, saying yes they knew that the rooms had an on-going problem and simply dumped towels on the sill to try and stop the spread of water. If they know about the problem and its being going on for so long, why are they putting guests in those rooms? Just offering to allow me to move rooms afterwards is really annoying and not the service I am paying for. I hope they resolve these issues, as this hotel has lots of postives, good location, good bar/restaurant, comfortable rooms etc, it just feels like they are taking their guests for granted. Rated 4 out of 5 by We had a very enjoyable stay at this Hotel We stayed in a Jr suite to stay in. this was a very nice way to spend our weekend for my wife's birthday.Tthe room was clean, and comfortable, with enough room for both of us to spread out and relax for the 2 night stay. Both of the restaurants within the hotel were a bit pricey, but the quality of the service and the food was very good. I would recommend this hotel to others for a weekend away. December 12, 2012

Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Property This is a great property. We have stayed here multiple times. This time we did not feel the room was up to standards. Maintenance was needed in the bathroom (missing towel bars and loose fixtures). A hanging lite was missing in the main area. No blankets or pillows for the pull-out. The staff/hospitality was excellent- friendly and very accommodating. We will be back. November 27, 2012

Rated 2 out of 5 by Did not meet my expectations. When I arrived at the hotel the cordless phone did not work because the battery was dead. The water coming out of the faucet is not adequate for washing your face. The water pressure is very low and it either comes out really hot or cold...nothing in between. The restaurants do not feel comfortable for a family visit with children. I would not recommend this hotel for families. November 8, 2012
