Rated 3 out of 5 by Love Westin, but a few things were missing I am an spg member and I love all of their chains and the program itself. Westins are usually my favorite stays, but this one was average due to a few missing pieces. Firstly, I havn't stayed in a hotel that did not have a fridge in the room in as long as I can remember...until now. There is something that looks like a fridge, but it does not cool. When I called the front desk to let them know the "fridge" was broken, they informed me that they no longer used it as a fridge but I could use it as storage. I suppose some people prefer their beverages and leftovers at room temperature. They did send me a fridge to the room upon request, but it was delivered by a less than friendly service man and I had to wait a bit for it to cool fully. Needless to say, it was not what I expected. I also was disappointed to make my way down to the pool only to find that it was undergoing some sort of work and would not be open during the period of my stay. The front desk did tell me I could use the pool at a nearby hotel, but I decided against walking across the street in Boston in my bathing suit and towel. Despite these dissapointments, I still reccomend the hotel because of the majority of the staff and the rooms. They were what I expect from Westin, I just wish the facilities were at 100% during my stay. August 19, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent Westin – Well Maintained I was at this hotel several years ago when it opened and was returning for a conference. I was interested to see if I would enjoy it as much as I did when it first opened. I am happy to report I did enjoy may stay here once again. The lobby is very large with lots of open space. There is a cool little bar in the lobby as well as access to the Starbucks, meeting rooms, gift, shop, etc. The rooms are typical Westin which is fine as it was well maintained. The bed and amenities are standard Westin and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is close by to several restaurants in the seaport area but this hotel is not downtown. It’s convenient and very close to the airport and steps away from the convention center but you don’t get any feel for Boston itself. Unfortunately, there aren’t public transportation options to get you to downtown so have to take a cab or it’s a 20 min walk. For companies/meeting planners: I had some boxes shipped to the hotel and the service fees here are outrageous. I had 8 boxes (about 20 lbs) each shipped to the hotel and the incoming service charge was about $300 just as their handling fee (not the Fed-Ex shipping cost). Before checking out I ordered the lobster eggs benedict and it was a disappointment. The eggs on top were completely cooked through (no runny yolks)! October 30, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful experience We stayed at the Westin Boston Waterfront during April vacation and to attend a Bruins game and the experience could not have been nicer during a difficult time for the city of Boston, as we arrived two days after the Boston Marathon. The hotel is easy to get to and the city of Boston is very accessible from the hotel - walk, cab or drive. The lobby is lovely, bright and open. The rooms were clean and ample for our requirements. The pool and work out facilities were spotless. Really, though it is the staff that made this experience exceed all expectations. From the moment you step from your car. The valet and luggage attendants were helpful and friendly; going above and beyond. Mindful of concerns you may have upon entering a city that was very watchful, given recent events. And each time through the lobby and exiting/entering the hotel we were greeted with smiles, conversations and high-fives ;-) for the kids!! Registration was so pleasant, I felt as though she was really, truly interested in where we had come from and why we were there! All exchanges with the Westin Waterfront staff from housekeeping, Concierge, registration, luggage attendants, etc. was just so warm and welcoming. I will definitely be back to the Westin Boston Waterfront! I would highly recommend this property to those looking to stay in the city. May 2, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Recent Stay I have stayed at the Westin on several occasions before, and am always happy with my overall experience. This time; however, I was a bit disappointed. I checked into my first room and it appeared as if housekeeping had not come to this room yet. The beds weren't made, towels and sheets were on the floor, etc... I called the front desk and requested a room change. They were extremely accommodating and brought me to another room. This second room was no different because housekeeping had not come to this room either. I called the front desk again and asked to get moved. I asked to speak with a manager, and they sent Alex up to escort us to a clean room. Alex was extremely helpful as he apologized for the inconvenience and took care of us. I told him that I completely understand miscommunications sometimes happen, which was the case in this scenario. I appreciated his help in taking control of the situation and making sure we were escorted to a clean room. As expected, the final room was very nice, and I ended up having a wonderful time despite the mishap with the dirty rooms at the start. I was a bit disappointed because I didn't expect that to happen; however, this mishap will not hinder my willingness to stay at the Westin in the future. The way the staff handled this situation proved why they are known for superior customer service. They rescued my experience. December 3, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic Hotel & Staff First let me say I stay at this property all te time in the last 6 months at least 15-20 times total nights. Each time I checked in they had a special surprise for me, nothing huge but to make you feel wanted there it was great. I would like to mention a few names, I apologize that I don't remember them all but you can be assured, that you all did an amazing job for us. So here i go, Kamal, Manager, Hussan, Bellman, Billy & James Parking, Darlene, Consigner, Front Desk Staff, all of the Restaurant staff went way out there way to helps. The one they really did the job 500% was the Housekeeping staff, they were TOP NOTCH, making sure we had what we wanted towels etc, anything we needed they got for us, and i must say in a very timely manner. The help line, Steve did a good job, but the food that cam up one night was not the best but things happen, They took it back and sent another but same thing, at this time we were so hungry we ate it. But again not runners fault.. So with that I will say this. If you are are try to figure where to stay this is by far. Great staff, very close to best restaurants on the waterfront and if you want to venture in the real south bars they are maybe a mile away, Murphy's and L street tavern good bars lots of try With that, stay here u will love i. We do and we were born and raised in the area. Lots has changed but the good people are still there and food and bars are Great...Room 1606 - 1607 Beautiful. September 3, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Starwood members should avoid this hotel We are gold members- We were never thanked are rewarded in any way. At checkout the clerk stated that we should have been up graded to a suite. It would have been nice to know that when we checked in. Our keys timed out during our stay requiring a visit to the front desk in the middle of the night. We were charge for parking that we didn't use and we were charged for internet that was offered for free at check in. These fees were corrected, but it required standing in line at checkout. Our initial room assignment was next to the elevators and ice machine. We had made the reservation several months in advance so there was no reason for this room assignment. The room was changed but this is when they should have informed us that we were to be offered a suite. Instead we were moved down the hall to a room with limited view. The hotel was busy, but accarding to their front desk, there were better rooms available. We were constantly given bad information on restaurants and bad directions on how to get there. A place called MY Dinner was recommended several times. It is a pit, and is not a short walk a way. We travel constantly and are generally very pleased with the benefits of being a starwood gold member and hope to up grade to Platinum in the future. This is the only negative review I've ever given a Westin Hotel. I think this is a situation where we slipped though the cracks. If the front desk had caught our membership and explained that an up grade was available to us, our entire visit would have been different. Except for the Dinner, which as I mentioned is a pit. Rated 1 out of 5 by First time I have been very disappointed with a Starwood Hotel I stayed here July 1 to 4, 2012 with my boyfriend. I have spent approx 150 nights in a Starwood hotel over the last 2 years and am a platinum member. Here is a brief synopsis of my disappointment. Tried to order room service and there was no menu in our suite. Called Service Express to ask for one to be sent up. 30 minutes later I still had not received the menu so called again. It is now 10pm at night and we are losing our patience. Another 20 minutes goes by and again I had to call to request the menu. Definitely not "service express". At this point I was so disappointed so called to speak to the hotel manager who was kind enough to comp our meal that evening because of the lack of service. We had an issue every day with the parking and I had to go to front desk on 4 occassions for them to re-program our keys. Wasn't an issue with the keys being demagnitised ( I know they can't be next to a cell phone), the issue was that they were constantly not programed correctly. Because I was in a suite they had to specially program them but no one could ever get it right. The last straw for me was the room. The king size bed in the room had a serious dip going through the center of the bed, not comfortable at all. For a suite, I would have expected something more comfortable. On our 3rd day, the room service came to clean the room and change all the towels as usual. When I went to take a shower, I dried myself off with a towel and smelt something funny. It smelt like someone had thrown up in the room. To my disgust the throw up was actually on the supposedly clean towel I was using. I have taken a picture of this in case anyone would like to see it from the hotel side. So all this to say, it was the worst stay I have ever had at a Westin or Starwood property and I would definitely not recommend this particular location based on this experience. It's the first and only time I have ever complained about a Starwood property. On every occassion before the experience has been great. Thank you. July 6, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Terrible Experience I recently stayed at The Westin Hotel. I was in a wedding at the Seaport and heard great things about the Westin. The date of check in I called and asked if it would be ok of my husband checked in early (he wanted to shower and get ready and then head to the church in Hingham, MA). I was told " Mrs. McDonald that is no problem at all." However, when my husband went to check in they told him that my name was on the account and that they could not check him in. My husband stated that he held the credit card it was purchased on. The staff member stated that he could not check in without me. Finally, my husband was fed up ( by this point he had wasted 30 min) he thought want me to call her? The staff member said that was fine. I spoke to the staff and all he said was do you give him permission to check in which I obviously said yes to and then confirmed my email... REALLY????? You make him late for the church and dont give him enough time to get ready and all they wanted was my email? My husband knows my email!!! Also, we were booked for a suite and did not get one which was extremely disapointing. To make matters worse, the next day we were talking to the bride and she asked me if I received my gift bag she left at the Westin for me at check in. I had not received it so later, I went to the front desk and asked them if they had the gift. They brought me out three other peoples gifts before I told them never mind this is crazy and as I was walking away they found it. The staff was very unprofessional and never apologized for not giving me the gift or for any problems we encountered. Upon checking out I asked for a copy of the bill and was told it would be emailed to me... I am never staying here again!!! If I were you I would be cautious, there are many other great hotels in the area and I am certain they would not put you through what we went through! I was completely dissatisfied with my experience and cannot believe how many things went wrong and never once did anyone try and make my stay better. August 15, 2012
