I have stayed at this hotel for business and personal purposes and I have always been satisfied with the quality of the hotel and the attention and help of the staff. i strongly recommend this hotel.

This is the fourth time I have stayed at this hotel and this time I experienced significant problems. First, there was no hot water at 7AM!!!! How can a hotel not have hot water for its guests who need a shower? I called down and they said to wait 10 minutes. The hot water did come on in about 15 minutes, which was too late. This is, simply, unacceptable. When I checked out and mentioned it again, the agent said "let me see what I can do" and he did nothing on the bill.
Second, at checkin they did not ask about my Starwood status (as they had previously). I assumed it was in my account, since I have stayed here several times before. However, when I got home I found that they had not entered it, and I was unable to request the points in the website because there is a $500 ceiling for those claims. What??????? This is TOO MUCH TROUBLE.

The shuttle service to area restaurants, stores, etc. was a big help when I visited during a snow storm. If the hotel didn't have what I needed, they made sure I could get where I could acquire those items.

Starting with the doorman who greeted us at our taxi, to the registration clerk who recommended a most delicious restaurant (they made the reservation for us, as well), to the appointments of the clean and inviting room, our stay was terrific!

Despite being excited for the heavenly bed, my night at the Westin in Alexandria was one of my worst nights of sleep at a hotel. The thermostat was broken, so we couldn't figure out how to properly control the temperature in the room, but didn't discover this until we were back in the room after a wedding. As such, we were cold, then hot, etc. Very uncomfortable. The front desk couldn't offer much at that time of night other than telling me someone would fix it first thing in the morning, which didn't help me at all. They didn't offer to move us to another room either. On a side note, the valet staff was slow and unresponsive. Not impressed at all and I won't be back. I love Westin hotels, so this is quite disappointing.

Upon entry we were greeted with a door being closed on us by valet staff. We got a room with two twin beds, instead of a King bed that we had thought we booked (it was stated a King bed in the Westin Indulge package terms & conditions). Finally, instead of breakfast in bed as described on the website, we were given two vouchers for the restaurant buffet with additional fees (not listed in the terms & conditions). Overall, this was not a very indulgent stay.
