Rated 5 out of 5 by Great location and a Wonderful Weekend This hotel offers us modern facilities in a convenient location. The hotel front desk, concierge and restaurant were all professional and helpful. The room and food service were first rate. August 11, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This hotel is great Staying at this hotel is always a wonderful experience. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and well furnished. It is convenient to the Metro and the trolley to Old Town. When visiting Washington DC we always stay at this hotel. August 9, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Staff was exceptional Taking a moment to say thank you to Robin who went above and beyond to get my suit to a dry cleaner and returned the same day -- within a few hours. Most would have just said no. She made it happen. Thank you. August 8, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice Had no issues. Staff was very helpful and quick to respond to all my needs and were a pleasure to deal with. Very happy and I would stay here again. Recommend this as a good place to stay. August 4, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by a great place we were at westin for a wedding--the room was very clean and staff was very pleasant and courteous--we would definitely stay here again August 4, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Comfortable, Clean and Enjoyable This is the second time my wife and I stayed at this property. Our first visit was to celebrate our wedding anniversary and this most recent stay (from 7/31 thru 8/3) was to attend the International Convention of Jehovah's Witnesses at FedEx Field in Landover, MD. As expected, our room was comfortable, clean and enjoyable. The water pressure in the shower was great, the bed was extremely comfortable and allowed us to have a very restful sleep. The staff, especially at the front desk, was very pleasant and helpful. There were some challenges, however, that I wanted to make you aware of. (1) The hotel did not appear to be ready to accomodate so many people, many of whom were attending the International Convention of Jehovah's Witnesses, as the valet parking was chaotic and disorderly. The bellmen seemed to be struggling to keep up. Some people waited over half an hour to have their vehicles retrieved. (2) There were insufficient baggage handling carts. In fact, there only appeared to be 2 or 3, which made check-in and check-out a nightmare. One bellman informed me that I would have to wait an hour for a baggage cart. As such, I had to make several trips with my luggage in hand since no carts were available. (3) I was concerned with the $10 'MISC' surcharge billed to my account for each night of my stay (totaling $30). Although very pleasant, the staff at the front desk could not explain this charge to my satisfaction. It was not properly categorized as a 'Room Tax' or 'State Tax' or anything that could be reasonably explained. As such, I reported this to the Rooming Department associated with our convention, as this seemed to be outside of the negotiated rates. Other than the above referenced challenges, we enjoyed our stay at this property and would not hesitate to stay again. August 5, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by A good option so far Well finished and good location. They should offer military discount. Employees were always simpathics and helpfull. We miss breakfast facilities considering room rates. The valet services works very well. August 1, 2014

Rated 3 out of 5 by Move to green meant shortcuts On a 4 night stay, we had the option of opting out of room service to help be green and build up extra star points. Problem is, housekeeping staff took it upon themselves to opt out for us. "Here are some towels. We will check with you tomorrow," was the comment on the first day as a stack of extra towels were thrust upon us. We thought we could do it for a day, so we took them and went with the plan. Problem is, nobody checked the next day or the day after. We tracked do a staff person in a different section, received some more towels and asked the room be done. "Sure" = Not done each day. By the end we extremely low or out of toilet paper, tissues, coffee, water bottles (funny how we were to receive a free bottle daily in SPG), and towels. At one point we were forced to use the bathrobe as a floor mat. Going green is an commendable ideal. However, the shortcuts made by the staff in the name of the program cut drastically into the quality of the stay. Aside from these issues, stay was fine. Front staff were helpful, pleasant and efficient at check in. Lounge staff tended to be a little gritchy but food was fine. The neighborhood near the hotels is sparse for activities for several blocks. Unless you are there for local business don't expect to see or do much without traveling at least a mile walking distance or hitting the Metro stop 3-4 blocks away. July 28, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Mediocre The room itself was fine. The bed was comfortable. The HVAC was noisy. The "Green" room option is not clearly explained. We were fine with reusing the linens & towels. It wasn't clear that there would be NO HOUSEKEEPING SERVICE AT ALL. No clean glasses, no coffee service replenishment, etc. When I inquired about the details, it was then explained that I would have to specifically request replenishment of the coffee, etc. The cost of in room WIFI was absurd. The restaurant was extremely overprices. The fitness center was adequate, but the pool is ridiculous. It's really just a large bathtub. I would not stay at this hotel again in the future. Rated 4 out of 5 by Very Good Hotel - Inconsiderate Guests Stayed at this hotel several times and hotel, staff and rooms have always been great. But, this time I was staying for three nights and on the floor where I was there were a group (10 or more) of inconsiderate guests. They insisted on running up and down the halls (1:00 a.m. - 4:00 a.m.), screaming at each other because they were drunk and dumping their empty pizza boxes in front of my room door as well as other rooms. This stay was not as relaxing as it should have been. The front desk knew about this problem and it surprises and disappoints me that the hotel could not control their guests. July 9, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Staff is caring and professional I took a team of six high school boys to an academic competition at this hotel. My room was delightful: the most comfortable bed I've found in a hotel, floor-to-ceiling windows giving a nice view of beautiful Alexandria and the weather overhead (between sunny days, I watched an evening thunderstorm), in-room safe, pod coffee maker with Starbucks coffee, double-head shower, hair dryer, and a robe for my use while there. I could have requested a mini-refrigerator if I'd wanted one. The staff treated me exceptionally well. A difficulty with the room reservations on arrival was handled with courtesy and unfailing patience. I asked for a spoon; they brought a whole set of utensils. They loaned me an umbrella when it rained and scissors to cut apart boarding passes. Speaking of which, they have a dedicated computer/printer just for printing out boarding passes. (Other printing needs are covered at the business center, for which there is a charge.) We arrived very late the first night, and the staff cheerfully directed us to the only store open at 11:30pm: a 7-11 two blocks away. There are charges for things that are sometimes free at other hotels, so be careful of that. Internet is $9.95 for the first day, but it's $27 for three days and $35 for four days. (Our group rate covered that, but it had to be taken off the bill at the end of our stay.) Valet parking is $24 (or you can find a spot on the street yourself). There is no free shuttle to/from Reagan International Airport, but they will send a shuttle as late as 10pm to the Metro stop to pick you up, or arrange for a taxi to meet you after 10pm. (Our taxi cost $10 plus tip.) Facilities: very nice meeting rooms, smaller-than-expected swimming pool, hot tub that was closed for cleaning two of the nights we were there, but very pleasant the last night. Around the hotel: Besides the 7-11, there are numerous sandwich shops and luncheon spots. In the evening, the lights around the fountains make a kind of wonderland to walk among. Great spot for an evening walk! Starbucks in the hotel building. No shopping nearby (but lots in Old Town Alexandria, and the free King Street shuttle takes you there from the Metro station 3 blocks away). June 7, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by great features hall way, 5th and 6th floors need vacuuming. Very apparent they had not been cleaned in awhile. July 23, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not fair for me to write this I stayed here two nights. The first was ok but that was because my wife did not land in Richmond until 12:30 am. So we checked in at 3am. The second night was ok as well but that was due to a huge party going on next door. I had to call the front desk twice once at 12 am and the second at 2 am. they were pounding on the doors and wallls. not a good night. Rececommended this hotel to a friend and he and his wife stayed there as well just because it was so close to the meto station. July 16, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very clean and contemporary hotel I really liked this hotel. It was very clean and everything looks brand new. The rooms were also very new and clean. It was very quiet in the room, which makes for great sleep. The bar in the lobby offers a nice and cosy atmosphere. We stayed on the 8th floor, and there appeared to be a club level lounge, but no one at the front desk notified me of. I am not sure whether I qualified to get in there or not, but I tried my key and it worked, but I never went there because I was not told about it. The other thing that I did not care for was the outrageously expensive parking $24 per night! When we pulled up to the hotel, a valet assistant came to meet us and asked us straight away whether we are doing the valet. We were not presented with any other options, and considering we have never stayed there before, we thought that was our only option - to park using the valet. The next day we saw that there was plenty of space to park on the street for free!!!! So I felt tricked to some degree by the valet assistant! December 1, 2011
Rated 2 out of 5 by Needs improvement to meet Westin brand I've stayed at this hotel frequently over the last few months and unfortunately, the level of quality has decreased at each stay. The bedding was the source of frustration on this visit. I commend the Director of Operations for quickly responding to an email and offering to remedy the situation. Would like the hotel to re-elevate its standards to live up to the Westin brand. (Wish there was a "maybe" option for the "would you recommend this hotel" question.) July 10, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by DID NOT ENJOY STAY AT CHECK IN, WE WERE TOLD THERE WAS ONLY ONE ROOM LEFT AND IT WAS A HANDICAP ROOM. A HANDICAP ROOM IS NOT A COMFORTABLE ROOM DUE TO THE SHOWER, NO COUNTERTOP IN BATHROOM ETC. WE WETRE TOLD AT CHEK IN THAT THERE WAS A FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE WHICH WOULD TAKE US TO LOCATIONS IN THE LOCAL AREA. THE SHUTTLE WAS TO RUN EVERY 10 TO 15 MINTTES. THE SHORTEST WAIT TIME WE HAD WAS 35 MINUTES AND THE DRIVER WAS VERY RUDE ON MOST ALL OF THE TRIPS WE TOOK. THE HOUSEKEEPING STAFF NEEDS SOME TRAINING ON HOW TO MAKE A BED. THE BOTTOM SHEET WAS FOUND AT THE FOOT OF THE BED. ALSO, THERE WAS SOME UNUSUAL BLANKET ON THE BED WHICH ONLY COVERED HALF OF THE BED. ALL IN ALL NOT A VERY PLEASANT STAY AND THE RESTAURENT, WOW , $5 CUP OF COFFEE.. July 1, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not good value relative to cost or location Hotel rooms and conference space were always cold, costly internet service, and the restaurant was extremely noisy - needs some quiet areas, Nice gym, comfortable beds, meal staff for conference meetings were very accommodating and helpful regarding special meal, food for conference was very good, appreciative of van service. Location not good for old town, taxis not readily available as told. July 12, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Rude!!!! Appearance of the hotel was average for a Westin. Nothing out of the ordinary but also nothing to complain about. When I went to my room it was not cleaned yet – no big deal this happens every once in a while and simple went to desk to get a new room. I also realized they had not asked me about the check-in platinum bonus and so I told them I wanted the points. Again NO issue there. Here is where it goes downhill. I stop by the SPG lounge for a snack and apparently when cut a piece of brie cheese my hand touched it. I used the knife but it slid and I redirected the cheese with my finger. I know how to eat in public and I did not grab the cheese, I simply held it in place while I cut. I also “took” the piece that my finger touched. Trust me if it happened on Dowton Abbey I doubt it would have bothered Mr. Carson, but it bothered the women running the room and she laid into me from across the room. Started lecturing me on touching food. I put the cheese on my plate, put the plate down and left the room. Next morning, I go to the gym and workout. On way back to room I stop by the lounge for a cup of coffee and yogurt to go. I have gym small white towel draped over my shoulder (something I’ve done a 1,000 times). As I’m pouring the coffee I hear that same lovely voice instructing me (again in front of the whole room) that I could not bring my gym towel into the lounge. I said I’m only getting coffee and the towel is on my shoulder – I honestly have no idea what was wrong in this scenario. If I wanted to get grief I could go to my mother in law’s – but I don’t need to deal with being talked to this way when I’m paying $200-$300 for a room. I stay at SPG 50-60 nights per year and have for 10+ years, never met such a rude person in a customer facing role. I WILL NOT STAY THERE AGAIN. I call for my car and they tell me 20-25 minutes for my car. Would have been nice if they had not quoted 10 minutes when I dropped the car off…. March 18, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Off the beaten path The hotel is lovely and the stay was fine. It is off the beaten path - hard to find and somewhat difficult to get to local features as the single van was far too busy for the demand - ultimately ended up caught in a downpour trying to walk so I didn't have warm and cozy feelings. July 14, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very Nice The room was very comfortable, the ambiance was great throughout the hotel. Hotel catered food for our business meeting was fresh and delicious. The shuttle driver took me to and from the waterfront, so being located a slight distance away was fine. July 14, 2014

Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent Service - Not all began too well...but problems were solved satisfactorily. I was offered a king bed for me and my cousin, then we declined and requested double beds and got a room (404) with view to a roof. I didn't mind, but when I was taking a shower late that evening, the faucet did not regulate the water temperature..(for about 15 minutes I tried).and there I was soap all over my face while I was calling the front office for help. When the maintenance help came to the room, he inspected the faucet and found it out of service. This gentleman (forgot his name but he said he is Moroccan when I asked him where from) was very pleasant and eager to help us get another room. He even took our bags to the next room. Unfortunately, I had an accident that day and was taking painkillers and was not very comfortable with this incident. I thought that my cousin had giving him a tip, and I did not tip him neither. I felt very ashamed and sad when I asked my cousin and found out that he did not tip the maintenance man because he deserved a nice tip for the prompt response to take ownership of our problem and for solving it satisfactorily. Please give him my apologies for not tipping him. He was our hero that night. July 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Westin Hotel This Hotel has Excellent facilities and service! July 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by The staff makes this hotel memorable The staff from the moment we checked in, made us as comfortable as possible. We had two rooms and one was ready early, they gave it to us so my 87 year old mother could relax after a long day of travel. When the second room was ready they brought us the key. The staff helped us with a wheelchair to make my mother comfortable. They all went above and beyond. July 11, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great stay and great service This was a great "home base" for exploring Washington, DC. The staff were excellent and very helpful. The complementary shuttle around Alexandria was a treat and very responsive. The workout facilities were very nice for hotel standards with a lovely view. The pool had a lifeguard which I didn't find to be as friendly or service minded as the front desk folks. Other than that minor instance, it was a fantastic stay. July 5, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Overall a great experience Lovely, clean, quiet & comfortable. The front desk staff were all terrific, helpful, and very friendly. Valet parking & hotel shuttle not so much. Metro station several blocks away but walkable. LOVED the availability of the workout clothes/shoes rental. 24 hour room service was a bit pricey but good. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to be outside DC itself. July 5, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Disappointing for a Westin property I attempted to discuss with front desk staff my disappointment w/hotel upon check out but they were too busy checking in a VIP that had just arrived; clerk only took my key & never thanked me for my stay or asked any questions. I called Starwood Customer Service Rep after leaving hotel w/many complaints, major being the lack of cleanliness at this hotel; took many photos to document. As a SPG for many years, as well as a meeting planner, I would rate this as the bottom of the Starwood properties. June 18, 2012
