This hotel did not meet expectations. Walking into the room, the first thing you notice is that the door latch is hanging by a single screw. Not only that but the room is also missing a robe and the complementary bottle of water is only a half size.
The service was not much better. After requesting a wake up call the night before, I did not receive one in the morning. Overall, I was disappointed in both the facilities and service and felt that it did not meet the standard of other SPG hotels I have stayed at.

I was impressed with the look of my room especially the comfortable lounging chairs and ottomon. I loved the magnifying mirror in the bathroom and a clean robe was provided for my personal use. The soap was the perfect size for my need.
The hotel's women restrooms were very clean and the toilets very comfortable to use; the size of the stales put me in a relaxed mood while using them.

The service that we received from Sales to Banquets was wonderful from listening to what I wanted to make this event special for my granddaughter. If there was anything that we needed the young lady from Banquets was always close by to take care of our request. My family truly enjoyed the experience at the Westin, the stay and event. Most importantly my granddaughter Anja was very happy

We had a wedding across the street and we had a cocktail party at the Hopkins Room here. The staff was really great, the rooms were spacious, the beds were heavenly, the showers were great. I would much prefer free internet because you keep getting a prompt to sign up. So a word to the Westin is offer free internet. Everything else was 5 star.
Most of all the cocktail party was in a beautiful room with a top rate planner (David) that did more than a 5 star job with the party. I would recommend doing any event here. You would be in excellent hands.

Before our arrival I called the hotel to see if a room was available for early check in, the gentleman that answered the phone was very rude, very unknowledgeable, and kept me on hold so long eventually I hung up and called back to no answer for about 15 minutes. When I finally got through he said he was the only one answering the phone .
The valet and lady at the desk were outstanding as was the shuttle driver.
The metro was not easily accessible though with the updates going on in the metro.
Our room smelled of animal urine, and there was fecal matter on the rug.
The internet kept logging us off when there was more than one person on.
Being an SPG member had no benefits, even with an American Express SPG card which is very disappointing. I will be checking to see if hilton honors or choice offer more.
Also on Yelp it mentioned a free breakfast for 2 which I inquired about but it wasn't included.
Beside the lady at the front desk who was very helpful and was wonderful, I will not be returning to the Westin Alexandria

Being and a loyal SPG member, I was very much looking forward to my stay at the Westin Alexandria. However, there were a series of unfortunate events that followed that left me eager to check out:
1) Upon check-in, the employee who granted my keys was very rude and dismissive
2) When I get to my hotel room, a used empty wine glass is waiting for me outside of my door (no idea where that came from)
3) When I try to go into my hotel room, my card keys nor my card app on my phone were activated so I had to go back to the lobby
4) The same employee re-activated my card after rolling her eyes, and told me in a condescending tone that I should've just used my phone to get in (even though I already did) I finally get back to the room and only 1 out of the 2 cards were activated
5) I realized that I wasn't given a wifi access code (free for SPG members). Instead of going back down to the lobby for a 3rd time, I decided to all the front desk. However, the phone cord was removed from the phone so I was not able to ring down to the front desk. I was already pretty tired and was checking out in the morning, so I didn't bother
6) I went to go take a shower and there were NO toiletries, no soap, shampoo, body wash etc. I was going to call the front desk to bring some up....but then i realized the phone was broken. Luckily I had some of my own....
All in all, this is something I would expect from a budget hotel, but for the price and prestige of a Westin, I was very disappointed.
To not be a total downer.....the bed was amazing :)

We enjoy the Westin in Alexandria but its amenities have clearly declined over the past year since our last stay. The staff remains superb and attentive and did all they could to help us. But in room 572, the air conditioning failed on two warm nights in succession, the toilet had a leak that spread water on the floor (not a lot but enough to step in) and we ended up with a new "ding" in our car after parking there for 3 nights. The halls were never vacuumed inasmuch as we saw the same small plastic container top next to a room for the full 3 days we were there. In the men's locker room within the exercise facility, the automatic and manual flushing system had failed leaving the urinal in a disgusting condition. The parking guys claimed we must have created the "ding" despite the fact we had not driven the car since its arrival.
So this is just a note to say that this is a hotel with nice appointments, amenities and great staff....but it is a very noticeable step down in quality from our previous visits.

Our 3rd time (and my 4th time) staying at the Westin Alexandria. This place is a home run. Close to Metro. Love the neighborhood. Hotel always looks great...rooms, lobby, restaurant. Friendly staff. Lunch was excellent and Jennifer G took great care of us. Cannot wait to return.
