Rated 1 out of 5 by Ruth327 I Expect Much Better from a Westin
I normally love staying at the Westin, but this was not a good experience at all. Overall, the staff was exceedingly unhelpful. I stayed for three nights and had my room service order messed up three different times, and once twice in one order. On my second-to-last day, my room got skipped completely by housekeeping, which meant my breakfast leftovers were not taken away and left to stink up my room all day. By the time I got back to my room, it was past midnight and there was nothing that could be done. And then, when I realized I needed to stay in town another night, I was told I needed to "try to book something online."

I like that this property was once a bank. It has history. Character. It's also a Starwood property that HAS a pool and a hot tub. The pool has a very interesting story. You should definitely check it out. The food at the on-property restaurant is average at the bar. Not sure if it's different if you sit at a table but my guess is that it comes from the same kitchen. The bartender though was very friendly and asked questions about where I was from, etc. As a Platinum member, I was very pleased that they were able to upgrade me to a suite. Very spacious indeed, nicely appointed Westin bathroom, and a nice lounge area. My room had lots of windows with shades to either allow the sun in, or have some privacy. Everyone is well mannered. Would most definately stay here again. I like that this is not just a "corporate" style cookie-cutter location.

Had an amazing meeting at the Westin Minneapolis. The 10th floor boardroom was large with very comfortable leather executive chairs with great views. Nice variety of food items were refreshed throughout our meeting by friendly and attentive staff.

5 night stay and by the 2nd night the entire Westin Minneapolis team seemed to know what my favorite drink. The restaurant was very attentive. The room was sparkling every day.
Daily dry cleaning was delivered each night. I LOVE THIS HOTEL because they made me feel very special. Special Thanks to Andrew at the Front Desk, Neil in the restaurant & Caroline in reservations. See you next week!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Ryan24601 Unsatisfactory-- standards far below what I've come to expect for an SPG hotel
I've stayed at the Westin Minneaplis once before, and it was fine. The room was on the top floor with a nice view, and the staff were helpful and courteous.
However, I will do my best to avoid this hotel due to my awful experience last week. I checked in after a long day at the office, only to find that the entire hallway smelled like smoke. So did my room, for all three night that I stayed there. Calling the front desk only served to have them spray the entire place with some kind of nauseating air freshener-- better than the smoke, but for three straight nights?
To make things even better, the walls are paper thin. My next door neighbors seemed to be having a lot of, ahem, nighttime adult fun, and I could hear every. single. word. Try finishing a PowerPoint slide under these circumstances. Thankfully, they were gone by the next night, but still unacceptable. I think someone realized that at some point, because at several times during the night, someone would walk up to their room and knock on the door LOUDLY, multiple times in quick succession. The noise would stop only to start up again in a few minutes. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Moral of the story? Don't stay here unless you have to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by HotelSnob1972 Overall excellent stay
When I arrived at the Westin Minneapolis via the Light Rail, I found the property design impressive with a very amiable and professional staff at ever interaction. Foods are very good and fresh. Many nearby bars and restaurants for night life activities. Highly recommend

Rated 1 out of 5 by RoadWarrior62 This hotel has no leadership
This hotel has a revolving GM door. The GM's, Mr. FR and Ms. Assistant GM, JP, have no concept of customer experience. They knowingly overbook this hotel to drive up the "value pricing" for a average at best room. This has happened multiple times. When confronting them on the issue I received these exact comments:
- This is an industry issue
- Happens every week
- I'll give you points, (but so low I could not use it for one night stay in this hotel nor any hotel I frequent in California
- We are a revenue driven Hotel)
- Serge Rivera is the problem (President of SPG North America)
- not the first time I have been awaken in the middle of the night
Not taking ownership when you are the leaders, is clearly why this hotel is a mess in too many ways to list.
The GM's have never been in a "How to satisfy their customers" training class and I recommend they should get out of the customer service business altogether. Both allow their always new front desk employees to take the brunt of their mismanagement and overbooking.
Give a loyal member a call and or email early in the day when you know you have overbooked the hotel by 20 rooms.
If you are a loyal member of SPG, you understand this hotel is the bottom of any expectations you have. If you are not a loyal member of this Westin, I understand why.
