Rated 3 out of 5 by westin iberville new orleans Stay was nice until my last day when water came through the light fixture above the shower while we were using the shower it was scary and we could have been shocked we called Jason at the front desk and engineering came. but be had to leave and were unable to use the shower. We did spend over $1200.00 for this experience. We expect two free nights at the Westin for not being able to shower not to mention my nine year old could have been electricuted. Rated 1 out of 5 by very poor unprofessional management I had a room reservation on 12-28-13 and arrived at the hotel at 5:20 p.m. with my family only to be told that the room was not ready . I spoke with Jesse who worked behind the check in area and he gave the excuse that they were busy although check in time was 3p.m. . My family had dinner reservations at 6:30 but apparently this was not their problem . Another couple had a weeding to attend and their room was not avail. either and they were told to use the public rest rooms to get ready . We spoke to the manager Carla who was unprofessional and useless and offered nothing to try to compensate for their poor unacceptable service and our inconvenience. I would not recommend this hotel at all . Ex starwood preferred member since 2008 based on this unprofessional experience. January 5, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Disappointing stay in NOLA Disappointed overall with basic services and comfort for hotel. (1) Room was comfortable only because of the chairs. Very uncomfortable to sit up in bed - against hard headboard, not enough pillows. Impossible to read alarm clock because extremely dim. (2) Housekeeping very often did not show up until the afternoon - they also did not replace the shampoo and conditioner daily. Also, the robe disappeared after the first day and did not return until day 8 of our stay. Finally, the coffee stirrers and milk were seldom replaced. (3) Very dark in the hallway near the elevator, not sure what the idea was here, (4) Bar / restaurant - extremely dark here, reminded me of a dungeon, very hard to see anything. Fortunately, the bartenders were nice overall, but service was very slow. (5) Lobby area was very open, beautiful view of river, but couches and chairs were extremely uncomfortable, very cheap padding. (6) Gym was very nice - multiple treadmills with on screen running courses, excellent. Also various machines, open area. January 5, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Staff excellent but Rooms need improvement Staff very friendly and exceeded expectations. However room details need improvement. Door was ajar when we arrived and we noticed that most of the doors of the other rooms in the hallway were also ajar posing a security risk. Also there was no soap or tissue in the room nor did the clock or cordless phone work. January 5, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by This hotel has a great location. Upon our arrival, we had no soap of any kind. Soap was requested immediately and we did not receive any. We called again about five hours later and received it. We had to clean hairs out of the tub/shower before using it. The staff was very friendly. January 4, 2014

Rated 1 out of 5 by Dirty Ventilation I went for New Years Eve with friends, upon arrival everything seemed fine. the room was clean, i dropped my belonging off and went out to explore the city with friends. i returned to hotel to sleep and could not sleep due eyes watering and constant sneezing. i got up the next morning and bought allergy medicine. upon leaving the room i stopped show symptoms. i returned that even and experienced the same issues, i looked at the vents in the room and they were covered in a black film and dirt. i went to the front desk and asked for a different room of course NYE no rooms available they stated they would send some one up to clean the room. no one arrived the next morning i went back down stairs the next morning got the same answers no one showed up to clean the vents. i took a towel and cleaned off the outside of the vents but the dirty and black film was not reachable without tools to remove the vent cover. i spoke with friends that where staying in the hotel and they had the same dirt and film on their vents. i talked to a maintenance gentlemen on the elevator when i was checking out and he confirmed that they never clean the vents and said he was surprised there wasn't mold. if you have allergies or asthma stay away from this hotel. Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice Been years since stayed here and spent one night now as Plat SPG. Upgraded from a traditional room to a suite on the top floor. Very happy with that SPG recognition. Only beef was the buffet breakfast was kind of lame. January 3, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Great location, staff not up to Westin standards The Westin Canal Place is conveniently located near all the top attractions of the French Quarter. Unfortunately, when I arrived at 10pm my room wasn't ready. The staff of the hotel offered no apologies and wasn't even polite. They just acted like this was a normal situation and it was my problem to deal with. While this is no way to treat any guest, it is definitely not how a Westin should be treating a Platinum SPG member. I was told the room would be ready in 20 minutes and that I would be called when it was ready. I never received a call and returned to the hotel 90 minutes later to find the room still not ready. About 30 minutes later at 11:30pm the room was finally ready. Later in our stay, the alarm clock in the room next door was going off at 6AM. It took 1 hour and two calls to the front desk to have someone enter the room and turn the alarm off. January 3, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by My Stay on 12/27/13 Very disappointed on our last visit. Brought a Colorado guest with us. Reserved 27th floor river view room... Gave us 19 floor. When we walked into the room, it smelled like raw sewage. Moved us to 18 floor with no view. We had to wait over an hour for one of the rooms to be cleaned. Were not able to get the room temperature cooler than 73 although during our entire visit we kept the temperature at 67 degrees. We had made reservations well in advance and arrived early to check in. I was so disappointed and a bit embarrassed that we were unable to give our guest the full experience we promised her. There are too many hotels available in New Orleans to continue using a hotel who gives disappointing service....I think disappointing is the best word to describe our latest visit !!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 by Hotel has great location and attentive staff. Busy time of year so had to wait for a room to be available. Spacious room with great view of the river and Vieux Carre'. Parking not included in the room rate but discounted for self-park. Could hear water running late into the night. Friendly and attentive staff and concierge service. January 2, 2014

Rated 4 out of 5 by Ringing in the New Year at the Westin My wife and I, along with good friends, booked a package deal through Eventful to stay and attend the New Years Eve party at the Westin Canal Place. The hotel room was great. I wish I could say the same for the event. The band was topnotch, The Boogie-men, but the food was very lacking as well as the so-called premium brand open bar. The staff working the event seemed to be in a hurry to close the party down. All food was picked up by the staff early and the poor bar tenders were overworked with only one at every station. I would stay at the Westin again, but doubt I will attend such an event hosted by the hotel again. January 2, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Housekeeping was a disaster I'm an SPG Gold member and I often enjoy staying at Westins, but not this time. On my first day, I waited 3 hours for checkin, which meant that I wasn't in my room until 7:00 PM. Check in is advertised at 3 PM, so I was surprised I had to wait at all, much less, 3 hours. I was told this was because too many people were granted late checkout, so none of the rooms were turned over that needed to be which seems like a problem with their timing. They appeased me with wine and coconut shrimp, which I appreciated and left me content for an hour or two, but I started getting really anxy around hour 3. After that, I stayed 4 days and 3 nights, and my room WAS NOT CLEANED ONCE. Even after I called down twice in one day and asked for housekeeping, they still didn't come. I talked to a manager before I left and she comped me one night for my trouble (which I also appreciated), but the housekeeping service was completely unacceptable. We literally had no clean towels, coffee, or cups and our garbage was full. I'm pretty sure I've had better service a youth hostel back in my day. Everyone else was pleasant, but the housekeeping staff ruined the stay for me. I expect a certain quality if you're staying in a Westin and I just don't think I got it. I would recommend you stay somewhere else. January 2, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Quality Control Needed This hotel is in a wonderful location and thinks of itself as a luxury hotel. But luxury hotels cater to their guests and the biggest problem with this hotel was the staff, most specifically the room staff. The night we arrived, there was a fire alarm -- certainly not the hotel's fault since someone had triggered the alarm -- but, although the staff realized right away what had happened, it took them quite a while to tell the guests. So the guests all were leaving their rooms at 1 in the morning. When we returned to our room, our fire alarm in our room kept going off: battery failure. When we called the front desk, it took them 20 minutes to get someone up to change the battery. At 2 in the morning, it should have been instantaneous. Then there was the problem of no tea one day, only chamomile another day, no coffee one day, only de-caf another day, no creamers for two days, no soap for two days and, on one day, we returned to the hotel at 6 pm in the evening only to find that our room hadn't been cleaned. I cannot recall EVER going to the front desk or calling the front desk so often in all my years of travel. This hotel has potential. The staff was friendly. But, until they get their act together, it is certainly not a 4-star hotel which is what they seem to want it to be. January 1, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Toilet problem Arriving early in the day from a cruise ship, we did not take possession of our room until around 11:00 pm that day. We did not inspect the room and went straight to bed. At 3:00am we discovered the toilet did not operate properly and required a Tech in our room by 3:15 am. He worked on it for around 30 minutes , but could not improve the toilets function. He said he would return and replace a part in the morning , but never came and we had to be off to our day around 10:00 am. Not at all convenient for a party of 4. December 31, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Disappointment from a Westin fan I have never stayed at a disappointing Westin before, but this was it. The facility looks beautiful from the lobby, but the bed was not as comfortable as a Heavenly bed usually is. The faucet in the sink leaked all over the counter and was never fixed. The room I had reserved wasn't available, and we when (on the 3rd night of a 3 night stay) we got the room we reserved, it was worse the than first, smelling like a combination of mold and stale cigarettes. I'm a big Westin fan and was not happy with this hotel. December 31, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Unsatisfactory Housekeeping Service I stayed at the Westin Canal Place Hotel for 8 nights during the Christmas Holiday. I experienced issues with my room (2720) for 4 nights during my stay. On 2 separate occasions, housekeeping failed to service my room. Also, the heating and air control unit did not work. I would turn the air off at night and it continued to blow cool air. The air problem got so bad that I had to clip a towel over the air vent to prevent myself from becoming sick. I have stayed at this same hotel for 4 of the past 6 holiday seasons. This was by far my most horrible hotel experience at any establishment. December 30, 2013

Rated 2 out of 5 by Hotel is going downhill We will not be staying here again. We loved it as it was conveniently located to the Quarter, had garage parking at a decent rate, and amenities were very nice. Unfortunately, that is no longer true. We stayed overnight twice in December and were disappointed both times. The elevators are always very slow and do not all seem to be working at any given time. Our rooms both times looked like they needed refurbishing, plus the hotel no longer has a minibar. I am a diabetic, and like that I could keep my insulin cool, plus had available snacks/juice, etc. should my blood sugar drop. Additionally, both times we ate breakfast at the hotel, choosing to order from the menu as we both hate buffets. The food was long in coming, marginally warm, and service was horrible. I hate that hotel guests seem to be forced into the buffet. Finally, there used to be wonderful sofa and chair seating in the lobby facing the Mississippi River. You could get a drink at the bar and relax while enjoying the view. That's is largely gone and instead bar height long tables with stools have replaced the comfy seating, and it is not placed near the windows. All pointing to the hotel no longer aiming for a more upscale place to stay, I guess. December 29, 2013

Rated 2 out of 5 by Would not stay here again! We are very loyal SPG members and particularly like Westin. We are gold and platinum levels. This has been the worst Westin I have stayed in. 1). Woke up first morning to having no hot water. When calling the front desk they said the entire hotel was out and it should be back by 11am. No offer to do anything to accommodate us and no apology. I asked and after pushing it they offered free breakfast in the lobby restaurant. Not enough as far as I am concerned. Not being able to shower is a big deal. 2). This hotel does not have a club level or anything extra for membership. At checkin nothing extra was offered as normal. 3). Staff at front desk seems like they could care less. 4). Hotel lobby is rather dated and the roof top pool that they bragged about is very old. We do have a nice river view but with so many other SPG hotels near by I would not stay here again. Rated 3 out of 5 by Mixed hotel experience When we checked in initially, room had a burning smell. The front desk easily changed our room. The TV in room did not work properly needed to be be fixed. Worse was that night the hotel had to do electical work and this necessitated a planned blackout between 12 and 4. No one informed us of this, until a note was passed under our door around 10 p.m. We were not informed at check-in though the staff knew. Beeping noises woke us after 12, and with no electricity in room it was hard to detect where sound was from.Very annoying, and did not allow for much sleep. Emergency light said in note to be in the bathroom was not provided. Spoke to manager the next day, who was very apologetic and comped us to make up for the poor service. The rest of our stay went well. The staff we interacted with couldn't have been more gracious and accomodating. The room though in general needs sprucing up, as it looks tired and worn. There appears to be a lack of eye for details here. Not up to the usual Westin standards. December 20, 2013

Rated 4 out of 5 by Good service The location is ideal and the staff was very attentive. My room was chilly during the drop in temperatures however the comforters kept me cozy and I slept well. The doormen did a great job of calling cabs and helping guests. Because I was attending a conference in the hotel it was more convenient to eat in the 11th fl restaurant, which had pretty decent food at reasonable prices. December 17, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not what I expect from Westin A disappointment. The rooms are somewhat rundown, marks on the walls and bathroom. Lightbulbs missing in some lamps. There was an exhaust fan outside my room which was noisy and the only room they could switch me to also had an exhaust fan outside it - front desk not very creative or helpful about that. Housekeeping missed a day, had to call to get room cleaned. Free internet in rooms is painfully slow. No bellman available at checkout to hail a cab, we ran around finding one ourselves. Basically, this was not what I expect from Westin. December 16, 2013
