Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Location Excellent staff- parking prices a little high compared to other hotels in the area. Grout lines in guest rooms need to be cleaned. March 4, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Mixed Feelings Had a beautiful view of the Mississippi from my bed. But the bed was not firm enough for my liking. The upholstery on the the chair was dirty and showed wear as did the chairs in the lobby. The bathroom was modern and very bright and offered plenty of counter space. Ordered chicken through room service. The chicken was not cooked through. I was offered a replacement meal at no charge. March 4, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent location and Great Staff We were very impressed with this hotel. Walking distance to the French Quarters and directly across the street from Harrah's Casino. The staff was extremely friendly and the room was exceptionally nice. They beds are the most comfortable I have ever had. Large, soft, fluffy pillows. March 3, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not up to Westin standards Westin is my preferred brand, and I stay in them all over the world. This one is not up to the usual standards. There were several things in our room that were broken and never fixed (like our phone - it would not dial-out.) We reported the issue several times, and maintenance came by once, but never fixed it. The hotel also lost my dry cleaning. When I called to report that it was never delivered they said they'd check on it and get back to me. The never did. I called again, got the same routine, and again received no return call. It took four calls, the last one very angry, over two hours before they found my dry-cleaning and delivered it. Lastly, when I checked in I received my platinum upgrade to a suite, which is very nice. When I checked out, however, I discovered that the hotel had charged me for the upgrade. It was yet another hassle getting my bill corrected. An overall poor experience for a Westin. March 2, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Stay at Westin on Canal This particular Westin is mostly similar to the Westins I've stay in the past. The upside to this hotel is that is conveniently located at the corner of the French quarter and on Canal street. If you want to be within walking distance of the craziness but don't want to be at the center of it. This is the place to be. The hotel itself is general clean and tidy. The only downside to this hotel is you have to take the elevator to the 11th floor for registration, then take a separate elevator to your room. Getting in and out of the hotel takes 2 separate elevators, which is not the most convenient if you are trying to rush to work in the morning. March 2, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by tired Stayed at the westin Feb 20, for three nights, this was my third time visiting. although there has been some superficial remolding, the hotel while being in a great location, is tired. Each night we were awoken by noise from either the Hallway or the room next door. Our toilet was possesed and would run whenever it decided to. Engineering came up to repair and it lasted one flush! Plastic cups for $200 a night, maybe at lower priced places, not a westin March 1, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Always Delightful The Westin New Orleans Canal Place is my "go to" hotel in New Orleans. I've stayed other places, but this hotel has been consistently great. The people are focused on making their guests comfortable. I was checked in at the front desk by Chastity, Lauren and Shereece. They greeted me by name. They recognized me as a Platinum member and they moved me through the check in process quickly. The rooms are spacious and clean. Parking could not be easier. The location is central. The hotel bar and the hotel restaurant are both very good and their staff is equally accommodating. March 1, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by great service, and location I love this hotel, many reasons, it is just far enough away from the the craziness of Bourbon street, but close enoogh to walk and be in the thick of things. Close to all the restaraunts. lastly beautiful view of the river February 27, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by BUSINESS I travel frequently related to my job and I feel always at home staying at WESTIN. This is our 4th occasion in the specific hotel. February 26, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fitness Center Great hotel in perfect location. Fitness center is new and equipment is great! But I do have a couple of suggestions for improvement: - the view of the river and french quarter is nice but includes hotel rooftop. I suggest you add planters of trees or flowers on rooftop to add some "color" and interest. Fitness room needs mirrors around the weight lifting area. Would have beem nice to have exercise balls in fitness facility. February 26, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by This hotel has excellent service We were in town for the Rock-n-roll half marathon. It was our first visit to New Orleans as well as our first marathon. We needed a comfortable place to stay so that we would be rested for the race. We had a beautiful view of the Mississippi River and enjoyed watching the various ships and barges passing through. The room was immaculate! The bed was comfortable and we were able to get good rest the two nights we were there. The staff were very friendly and answered all of our questions. It was nice having the elegant stores right under the hotel, because my wife realized she needed a pair of tights to go out to dinner our second night and it was very convenient. There was also a starbucks and a running store. We had everything we needed. The walking distance to the nightlife and restaurants was also convenient. We had a wonderful experience! The staff were very respectful of our privacy. February 26, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by AMAZINGLY COMFORTABLE !!! This hotel has the most wonderful beds, clean rooms and what a view!!! Service was amazing this week-end. My thanks to all the staff that made our stay so special. February 25, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great view of the Mississippi Check in was quick, Valet and Bell Hop were very welcoming. February 25, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by OK It has great views and is close to attractions. My room was not ready till around 5.30-6.00pm which creates a lot of discomfort if you are arriving as a family with kids. People coming in after us were getting rooms must have been other categories but still very annoying! The next day the staff were promptly clearing out the room by 12 noon. February 25, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Room has issues Our experience during our stay from 2/17/13 through 2/21/13 was disappointing. Although the location is excellent, the room seemed tired and we had the following issues during our stay. The first day we tried to lower the shade on our window and the whole thing fell on the floor. Maintenance personnel came and picked it up but didn't reinstall it until the third day of our stay. The sink in the bathrooom was plugged and we had to have maintenance clean it out after the first day. The toilet did not flush properly throughout our stay and about once a day we had to remove the back cover and manually operate the valve/float so that enough water would run to flush the toilet. We had maintenance come up twice during our stay because our television would not work. We finally realized it was a short in the cable and if we wiggled it right the tv would then come on. Gave up on maintenance to fix it. We were given a couple of free breakfast coupons for our troubles on the fourth day of our stay. I would have rather had everything working properly. Rated 5 out of 5 by Comfort and style I've stayed here many times in the past and this time was no exception to the comfortable stay I always have. The staff is always friendly from the minute you get there. This is my go-to hotel when staying in New Orleans. Great location! February 25, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by AC broken/staff rude/breakfast bad/Luggae stuck in elevator Check in was delayed! Front desk Large girl-Rude AC-Broken in suite! Breakfast was horrible! Elevator got stuck with luggage and we were delayed for 1 1/2 hours and some of my luggage had to shipped to my house later. Bartenders were very cold! February 25, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by New Orleans Stay before American Queen This is a beautiful hotel. The staff is corteous and helpful. Our room was freezing cold. We called the desk and they sent up an engineer within minutes. He was unable to fix the heat and w had to be moved to another room, with heat. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. February 24, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great stay while away from home I have stayed many times at the Westin at Canal Place. The hotel staff is very friendly and really go out of their way to make each stay a pleasant experience. The valet's are the best in the city. Highly recomment this hotel because of the personal service from the staff and the location can't be beat! February 19, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Mardi Gras Fun The Westin Canal place is a great hotel to stay at because you can walk to everything without being in the heart of everything. Royal Ave shopping, Jackson square and the ferry are an easy walk. But then when you come home, it's far enough away to be quiet and away from the crazies! The hotel is beautiful and everyone is super nice. February 18, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Stay during week after Mardi Gras Location terrific. Service quite good. We were on 26th floor on river side - spent much time watching ships going up and down river - much fun. February 18, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great hotel for many reasons. Excellent location for visiting NO and courteous, helpful and exemplary employees! February 18, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by This hotel is our home away from home We have been staying at the Westin canal place for years. We love this hotel . It is always clean. We love the beds, they are heavenly. The parking garage is wonderful. It is so easy to get in and out, safe and cheaper than most hotels. We will stay here again. February 17, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not so great The hotel entrance is at the rear of building at pier. The casino is across the street but after hours the lobby is closed through the mall so walking alone is not optional. There were no great amenities to speak of, no complimentary breakfast and the heat never came on, when complained upon check out told well should have called someone. Next time I will another hotel. February 14, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by This Hotel has a great location and all your needs This hotel is awesome its the greatest the location is exactley what you need all access to everything shopping dinning and close to every thing. The service was spectacular I needed a few personnal items and they where right there for me. The Hotel is Beautiful and you have an awesome view of the city and the river while dinning. Just the greatest place to stay for enjoying a getaway or Business February 14, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great hotel will stay again I would stay here again. The only thing that kept it from being top notch were a few cleaning issues such as ice bucket still had water from previous guest and no laundry bag in room. You couldn't ask for a better location or a better view. February 12, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice Hotel Hotel has very nice features. Located right on the Mississippi River and close to Bourbon Street. Nice workout facilities and rooms are spacious and clean. February 11, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Super choice for business travel in French quarter Very well treated at the hotel here. They do a good job given the hotel is on the upper floors. I was fortunate to get a concierge level (29) suite upgrade which had a stunning view of the river and the French Quarter. Staff is great. It is pretty darn close to Bourbon Street. A mardi gras parade ended just outside canal place - very cool. Did not have time to enjoy other features but will try to come back on a vacation. Note they have no concierge lounge. February 9, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by very nice hotel and excellent location The hotel is modern with very nice accomodations. The beds are very comfortable. The conference and meeting facilities were also very good Good location, walking distance to everything in the French Quarter. February 8, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by This hotel is in a great location The staff was great. The responded to all of my request though at times I thought that the things that I asked for should have been provided without having to ask for them. February 5, 2013
