Rated 1 out of 5 by Lexmax Nothing Heavenly About the New Oleans Westin Canal Street
The room was sparsely furnished and dull. The bed did not provide a heavenly bed experience. The covers were flat. The robe was stained and it was not white, but very dull and dingy. The restaurant did not have any lunch menu offerings. The only available meal was a lunch buffet with pork loin, salad bar, and soup. I don't eat pork. The waitress told me there were no lunch menu options. I felt like I was in the twilight zone! The hotel is a franchise. I would never voluntarily return.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Jazz16 Business so I had no choice
Never choose to make a green choice at this brand of hotel. It seems, in my experience, that if you do your room will not be serviced. The bathroom was left like it had only been wiped down , with a dirty towel.
The banquet food was so tasteless or even bad that my manager had to buy food elsewhere so we could all eat.
When the staff was made aware that no one had serviced my room, nothing changed for the final night. Room was still not serviced. It was a good thing I traveled with extra shampoo because mine was never replaced.

Second time staying at the hotel and the rooms are not clean. First time it was clear someone (employee) had been using the room to eat lunch, relax, etc. Food on the table and floor. Extremely dusty and dirty. Really surprising for a Westin.

My husband and I are locals, and because we could not take time off from work to do a true vacation, we decided to do a two-night staycation in the French Quarter.
The Westin was nicely appointed and clean. What limited exposure we had with the staff was pleasant.
Our room had two double beds which were hard, sagging, and left us both sore from head to toe after the first night. We are 29 and 39 respectively and with no health issues, so it really was the beds and not us.
We so badly wanted to avoid the torture of a second night that we forfeited our stay and checked out to go home where we knew we could sleep in a decent bed.
As moderate travelers who have stayed in facilities ranging from the sketchiest roadside motels to five-star hotels, our expectations were higher for the Westin. Clearly our expectations were misplaced.

The room was great! We were upgraded to a river view room upon arrival, and the front desk staff was incredibly attentive. Alexis at the Green Bar gave us wonderful service, and the male concierge (I can't remember his name!!!) was fabulous. James from security was also great. The breakfast buffet in River 127 was delicious, but the service could have been a little quicker. I also wouldn't be opposed to having a poolside bar. :) Thanks for a great stay!

The rooms are very spacious and well stocked. The hotel has responsive service with some outlayer. The sheets are old and the furniture is tired. The wifi is terrible. It's slow and requires constant logging on.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Hershekizzez Great valet/door staff
I rated the staff as excellent more so for the men and women out front who are valet/door persons. They are the real talent in that hotel. All were so friendly and funny. They gave excellent recommendations on things to do and places to eat. These employees are what makes this hotel better than the others hands down!
