Rated 3 out of 5 by Does not honor SPG program Reserved a Corner Suite on SPG. At check-in mentioned we were Gold Members and asked what was available. Under the new plan rules an enhanced room should be offered. The best the front desk could do is a room on the lowest floor with a direct view of the roof and air conditioners. Worth mentioning there were corner suites with city/harbor views, executive suites and luxury suites available for the duration of our stay (we checked). Also not offered the New welcome gift at check in. Hotel location is convenient if you plan on visiting Convention Center or Forum. Aside from the center and forum not much else to do. Not for a family vacation. The hotel and room furnishings are a little tired but clean and well maintained. Bathtub drain beyond clogged, fine if you want a bath, not so good for a shower (unless you want to soak your feet and ankles). Pool is small and very crowded during our stay. On more than one occasion no chairs or lounges were available. Would recommend the restaurant, 725 South. The food and service was good. The hotel staff are polite and helpful. Also if you want a change of menu there are other decent offerings within walking distance. Selection for breakfast buffet limited. May 19, 2013

Rated 4 out of 5 by The manager went above and beyond to make our stay special. We recently attended my neice's wedding in Tampa and I used my points to get a room for my family as well as my neice and her husband on their wedding night. The rest of my family stayed at the Westin, as well. There was a lot of details with the wedding rehearsal earlier in the day, my mom having her dog, my toddler needing a nap, and my neice getting married. Claudio spoke with my sister and myself several times over the phone to make sure our rooms were ready very early, so that the dog could get in and the baby could get a nap while the rest of us were at the rehearsal prior to the wedding. He upgraded our rooms: my neice and her husband got an 1800 sq foot suite and we got a corner room with a closed partition, so the baby could sleep easier, as well as my older two children. The next morning I went for a run and Claudio made sure there was a cold bottle of water waiting with the valets. The Westin Harbour Island is not the fanciest Starwood resort I've stayed in, but Claudio and the staff did more than anyone ever has to make our stay go smoothly. My whole family was pleased and impressed and my neice was happy and content on her wedding day! Above and beyond would be how I describe our experience. September 5, 2012

Rated 2 out of 5 by Bad Experience I was traveling around Florida for the month of December for work. I have had great stays at Westin hotels in other cities and was looking forward to staying here during the week I was in Tampa. The ladies at the front-desk were really nice, but it all went downhill from there. I changed rooms three times and by the third time I just gave up. The first room smelled of mildew. It was so strong I began to sneeze. The lady at the front desk agreed there was a foul odor in the room. They moved me to a second room down the hall, the room smelled better but it was directly behind the elevator and beside the staff room where they prepare for cleaning rooms, transporting food, etc. It was extremely loud and doors slammed and employees talking loud was non stop. I requested to move again and they kindly did so, however, that room had a strong mildew odor as well, was not very clean (stringy hair everywhere and the mattress had a huge brown stain on the side that looked absolutely disgusting!) To add, the food was terrible. My spinach dip began good and then when I got to the middle it was ice cold as if it had been nuked. Several times the elevators were down and only one worked. Overall just a a horrible experience. I've been on the road for seven months with my job and have spent nearly 200 days in hotels... This has to rank high on my worst hotel experiences.
