The Chinese restaurant has zero atmosphere, inattentive staff, apparently no management and an uninteresting menu.
The breakfast area is like a large cafeteria.
Please take a look at the competitors, such as Shangri La

I stayed for a week at this hotel in Beijing and had a wonderful experience. Despite the poor air quality outside, the hotel was comfortable and relaxing. The staff was absolutely the best I have ever experienced.

The hotel is situated in a premium location and offered superior service during my stay. Room was upgraded to 31/F. Spectacular view from my room. Besides, buffet breakfast was awesome, one of the best I've had!

We stayed two nights here. The overall experience is great: Nice hotel and convenient location. What we feel unhappy is the water temperature of the shower. Sometimes it becomes really hot for several seconds!

I dont normally complain - but on this occasion I did have cause to speak to the duty manager.
I dont normally write reviews either - but since the hotel has asked me to I feel I should.
This is a nice hotel and the staff try really hard but I did not enjoy my stay.
My room (2902) did not have any hot water and on two mornings I showered under a trickle of tepid water - not what you expect in a hotel at this level.
One morning the breakfast room was so full I was aksed to sit outside - no big isue except that I was then totally ignored and didnt even get a cup of coffee offered to me.
One lunchtime (at 2.15) the staff were so preoccupied with closing the restaurant they didnt bother to clear my table of the starter or take my order for drinks. In the end I left without signing the cheque - most unlike me - but the staff didnt even notice.
WiFi hardly works and when you are on business this is just not acceptable.
I did point all of this out to the duty manager - he was very polite and apologetic and we left on good terms. Not sure however if I want to stay at the Westin again.

The hotel provides very good service, excellent rooms and the overall performance was outstanding. The reception desk and customer service was great and very warm welcome and support during the entire stay

Can not communicate well in English, rude and no service minded. I stayed here many times and this is the first time I had this kind of experience from a lady front desk and I assume she is a new staff.

it took two times to fix a room card, and it took 5-10 mins for checkin even if there were2-3 staff standing behind the computer, and in the gym it feels like no aircon at all, and very bad air inside.

Easy and quick check-in and checkout.
Excellent SPG recognition, was upgraded to a room on executive floor.
Room was clean.
Room was excessively warm; turn thermostat down did not help.

Decent and fashion with nice smell in the lobby. I really like this hotel for it impressed me a lot by its professional service and high-tech equipments. I expect my next visit to the Westin Chaoyang.

Only 1 staff handle 6 waiting guests for more than 5 minutes without backup. Staff answered that is not her responsibility to manage the sequence of the queue while some guest lost patient to wait.

Alice and her team in the executive club provide excellent service.
Rooms on the main road side are a bit noisy.
Occasional difficulty getting a taxi from the front entrance.

Westin Chaoyang Hotel is in a great location. The service quality has been improving since its initial opening a few years back. The staffs at the Executive Lounge are very friendly and helpful.

More then once, the staff has gotten my check in wrong. They are very slow and extremely inefficient. There is really no need to be an spg member as they don't even recognize it.

You become less important with high profile guests in the hotel...would still expect courtesy but other guests were treated as a nuisance. I have come to expect more from the Westin.

Rated 3 out of 5 by JetRay Hotel Staff save the day for Westin Chaoyang
I am a SPG platinum member and have stayed in all SPG hotels in Beijing. This is my 2nd stay in this hotel this year and the experience was far from satisfactory. When I checked in, I realized that the room was in a sorry stage. The bathroom floor was cracking, the towel holder fell on day 2. What is totally unacceptable was the hotel wifi - it is almost impossible to work unless I used my laptop, standing near the door. I was almost going to check out till I went to the Executive club on level 34. What I can only say is the staffs in the executive club saved the day. There is this lady by the name of Shadow (I remember because she has a unique name) whose warm and helpfulness make my stays in the hotel really pleasant. She is attentive to details and go beyond what she need to do to make me feel totally at home. It is something I never think I will experience in a business hotel. I think she is a great asset for Westin with her sincere and warm hearted nature in helping guest. The staffs from the executive club, particular Shadow, make me to decide to continue to stay in this hotel. Thank you.

the hall is really magnificant and the staff does focus on what the guest needs all the time.the heavenly bed is so soft that I enjoy every sleep on it.

The executive club suite was decorated nicely and spacious, but the carpet and furniture need repalcing in room 1226. Other than that the hotel is very nice and great location.

I attempted to order room service but the woman answering the phone was not able to communicate in English sufficiently to take the order. In the end I had to pass on dinner.

I stayed in room 1525, which:
- very noisy as it is close to 3rd ring road and I didn't sleep well
- TV didn't work, just couldn't turn it on
- Shower water flow is too small

The Westin Beijing Chaoyang is a place where you should expect an atmosphere of renewal, to be refreshed and breath fresh air.
But it is far from that. The hotel allows that a SMOG atmosphere develops inside the hotel.
During the happy hour in the Executive lounge, guest start smoking. Intervention from the hotel side, is far and not coming. Opening the windows is no option due to the hazardous air pollution outside.
At the end of the happy hour, you stink like an full astray. And you can’t see the end of the lounge due to the smokers smog!
I define hospitality different. That due to the hazardous environmental situation in Beijing, whereby the fine dust particle concentration reaches a poisons level, a hotel like the Westin Beijing allows people to smoke everywhere.
Isn’t that very questionable?
The American embassy in Beijing seems to be the only organization which is concerned about the health issues of people. Starwood and the Westin Chaoyang definitely give no consideration about it.
I am deeply disappointed that I found the dirt situation form the streets of Beijing inside the Westin Chaoyang Beijing.
