Rated 4 out of 5 by Okay I have stayed at this hotel on multiple occasions. Due to my business travel I always pick this hotel and I was disappointed on this stay. The staff whom are normally friendly and upbeat were dry adn unsocialble. I called for help with my bag and my car and waited 30 minutes with no service so had to carry bags down myself. I had to wait over an hour and half for my food which i ordered at bar from restaurant. Not sure what was going on but this was not an enjoyable experience this time. Because of the other times that I had a great stay I will chalk this up to a bad day but the price of the hotel and location no guest should experience this ever. October 3, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by National Harbor Fabulous location on National Harbor. Made even better by the numerous eating places and shops. Truly outstanding. Negatives - the front staff, although friendly, was not very competent. Anything thing you asked them, they did not know. How can you work in National Harbor, a stones throw from DC, and not know anything that is asked of you? Also, they were unable to hail a cab twice for us. Not downtown DC - real simple task in this location. Also the chef in the morning was not all that good. Lastly, in the land technology needs, how and why does this facility not have a business center to use? Overall good (location and surroundings) but staff and other related needs to be sharpened up (a lot actually)) July 6, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by So-so When we arrived at the front desk, the woman did it greet us. I had to say to her, how are you today. She neglected to tell us that we needed a key to access our floor. When we entered the room it had a funny odor. Then the breakfast that was included with our stay, was a terrible. We both ordered an omelet with hash browns and toast. I asked for wheat and received rye. The hash browns on both of our plate were COLD not warm but COLD. Then to add insult to injury the hashbrowns smelled like cigarette smoke. Both orders of hashbrowns were like ths. They offered to Mae more and te second batch was. Warm but try had te same terrible smell. July 6, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Room Needs Significant Improvement Were it not for the efforts of Amr Bakr, Assistant General Manager, the recent stay would have been a disaster. Amr went out of his way to correct and unsatisfactory room and we are most appreciative of his efforts. I will stay at the hotel again thanks to his efforts. August 8, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by A so, so stay On the spur of the moment my wife and I decided to spend New Year's eve at the National Harbor location, and at premium rates I would imagine. This was our first time with the Westin chain. Check-in was quick and easy. Upon entering our room there was a defintite musty odor to the room. It was just noticeable enough that we went to the CVS around the corner to buy a scented candle. After dinner out we came back to our room to take in a movie before going back out. Well, after few minutes in to the movie we lost connection. I called the front desk and the clerk advised there was problem with the video system and to try again a little later. So we decided to give to the downstairs bar a go. We sat at a table and were initially greeted by the hostess/bartender. I asked her to give us a minute to decide on what we wanted. It turned in to twenty minutes. Now mind you the bar area had perhaps 10 patrons at the most. We finally placed our 2-drink order which took another 10 minutes to come to our table. Fast forward to another 30 minutes, drinks done and no one checking on us for refills.. Could not get the bartenders attention, she was too busy singing to herself and others. This bar was the ideal location my wife and I wanted to spend New Year's eve, away from the maddening crowds and believe me there was no crowd here, how perfect.......except for the service. It was practically non-existent. Perturbed I walked up to the bar, cashed out and we retired to our room. We gave the movie another go, but still no dice. Sorry Westin, but we won't be staying here again nor make any reccomendations. January 2, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by The weekend manager was extremely unaccomodating I have frequented this hotel on numerous occasions. The staff is usually extremely friendly and eager to please. However, this time there was a new manager by the name of MIa who was overly unaccommodating. Usually when I stay at this hotel I am able to get a specific room. However, this time I was told that the room was occupied so I would naturally have to stay in another room. I was on a weekend retreat with my fiance for my birthday and the only rooms available were those with double beds, although I had reserved a king size. I paid for a view and was given rooms with HORRIBLE/NO view. Mia kept saying that there was nothing she could do & that it was the Westin's policy to not change rooms if it was not up to guest standards. There was no microwave in the room and when my fiance wanted to heat food up during the middle of the night he was told by an employee that as per the manager they could not be of assistance and he had to go to the gas station to utilize a microwave. At the end of the stay I requested a late checkout of 4pm as a Starwood Preferred Member and due to the inconveniences during my stay. MIa once again advised that company policy did not allow late checkout and that we would have to be charged if we stayed any later. My fiance agreed to pay the extra monies. When we were exiting the hotel to get some lunch, Mia shouted from the front desk whether we were checking out, if not we would have to be charged (as was already settled earlier). Overall the weekend was an UTTER disaster and had it not been for the "manager" Mia, I KNOW from past experiences that my stay would have been MUCH better. As a "manager" Mia did not try to accommodate us as guests and she was unwilling to compensate for any inconveniences or situations that arose. April 30, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Westin Hotel We had an overall great weekend staying at the Westin Hotel in National Harbor. This is our second time there and would stay again. The gentlemen on our arrival at check in was awesome (wish I would have remembered his name) He also took care of us last year. The rooms were cleaned and staff very pleasant. Close to the convention, stores, and great restaurants. August 3, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 Great Service They gave us the best service ever our son got sick at 3am and the gave us the best help ever and the service didn't stop. August 9, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Location Very clean hotel and the National Harbor is a great place to visit. You wouldn't even know that you are a couple of miles away from DC. Great workout room, but pool is very small. August 7, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Not too big, nor too small This hotel is large enough to have amenities I like (good restaurant, pool/hot tub, etc) yet small enough that the front desk, elevators, restaurant are not a long walk from the rooms. The shower is great but there was not a tub. Loved their robe. upon calling the front desk about the"in room cooling station" that didnt work they quickly brought up a real mini refriderator. Also helped with printing airline boarding passes a July 28, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Hotel Comments The hotel was not real clean and we just did self park as there was a good 10 minute wait at valet. We told the lady at check out that the AC was not working properly and she didn't even write up a ticket. Great location and views. Breakfast and the service in the restaurant was excellent. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Staff Makes a Great Hotel Great location, really pleasant and clean rooms, but the thing that makes this such a good place to stay are the staff. All of the people are incredibly helpful and generous with their time and advice. They really seem to enjoy being of service. August 5, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Nothing Special I was a bit perplexed by the lack of service at this hotel. My experience was just OK and most likely will choose to stay at the 5 star property located next door to the Westin the next time we are looking for a Stay-cation spot at the National Harbor. Rated 4 out of 5 by Over-priced Our 1st night was horrible. There was a party on the first floor and it sounded as if the DJ was in our room. We called down to the front desk and was told there was nothing they could do, and the party was scheduled to end at 11pm. We packed up and went to front desk where we were offered another room. This room was quieter, however, we lost the view we had paid extra for. Overall, the rooms are not very sound proof. You can hear people in the halls as well as the rooms next to you. I could hear the children in the room next to me at bedtime, plain as day! Also, there was a vent in the bathroom that could not be turned off. July 26, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Facility, Great Location 3 days of business meetings in Southern DC and Lower Maryland, followed by vacation weekend with cousin from Ft. Washington area. Easy access by colleagues providing transportation to/from meetings/dinners. Convenient access to National airport, I-495 beltway, I-295 downtown, Alexandria Old Town. CVS Pharmacy, UPS Store, FedEx Office all walking distance. Would be beneficial if Metro stop was nearby. July 28, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by staff Ahmed behind the counter and your man who met my car coming in were excellent. I experienced a death of a friend on my trip down and was a little out of it. these gentleman went out of their way to ask how I was doing when ever they saw me and offered a much needed condolences when I needed it. I appreciate they efforts to comfort me in a trying situation. Salutations to them both July 28, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Super Staff The most helpful staff that I have dealt with in a long time. The staff actually were excited to share there knowledge with you to make any experience around Washington DC as pleasant as possible. Staff greeted us every time we entered the hotel with a sincere smile and verbal greeting. Staff was very complete in their directions to places and how to avoid problem areas. July 28, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by A splendid reward stay We were warmly greeted and upgraded to a water view room at no charge which was a nice way to start a rewards stay. We enjoyed a great river view and a very comfortable and clean room. There was plenty of room for our massage table which we brought along. The hotel is pretty centrally located in National Harbor so it is a short walk to all kinds of dining and entertainment options. We strolled around on the nearby wharf and enjoyed the party like atmosphere on a Saturday night in National Harbor. The only challenge was very limited curb access -- there is a small cutout in front of the hotel (holds maybe two cars at a time) and we had to unload our massage table. December 29, 2011
Rated 3 out of 5 by SPG DOESN'T MEAN MUCH OF ANYTHING I added one night extra to my reservation at the last minute and received no discount, or at least what I was paying for the other two nights, approx. $50 difference....more. I went to take a shower at midnight, prior to turning in for the night, only to find I had NO hot water. The staff was also nice enough to give me the room right on the other side of the elevator so I could hear the ding...ding...ding...all night! When I told the front desk about the lack of hot water I received an apology, nothing more. How about free breakfast or something. I guess hot water would have been another $50 more. Ohhhh, did I mention I was an SPG member? SOME PUNK GUEST????!!! September 2, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Service was sub-par for a Westin I was very disappointed in the front desk service. Being a platinum member I have become accustomed to being treated with a little more respect and offered certain standard amenities such as breakfast vouchers, drink coupons, and late check-out. I had to request all of these amenities. I had to remind the guy at the front desk that I was a platinum member and entitled to late check out. The front desk should take a class on how to treat customers like they want them to come back and stay again. July 14, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Westin - National Harbor Great location and value. Very accommodating, for my last minute business travel requirements. August 3, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Best Views in National Harbor! The Westin has the best location in National Harbor! Right on the waterfront, with full views of the river, the ferris wheel, the river walk, the DC Metro area, and beautiful sunsets. It is also right in the middle of the Harbor action, within a block or two of all of the best the Harbor has to offer! My wife and I will back soon! July 28, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by hotel in great location very convenient to everything August 4, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Service This was an excellent stay at the Westin National Harbor. It was the day of my wedding and after a great reception my wife and I were presented a most ideal room for our special evening. I must give special recognition to Westin staff member Ahmed. He provided the best service experience from a hotel staff member I've ever received from any hotel in my life. His attention to detail and care was flawless and he went the extra mile to ensure our stay would be memorable, from making a dinner reservation on our behalf, to helping us secure transportation from our wedding to the hotel, to something as simple as opening a door. My new wife and I will always look to a Westin and Starwood hotel first in the future because of what Ahmed did for us. May his attitude and work be an example for all of your staff. July 31, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by GREAT PROXIMITY TO CONVENTION My experience was very positive at the hotel itself. The welcome was outstanding as well as staff willingness to accommodate a late checkout. Knowledge of staff of options for transportation to Dulles was limited which necessitated a very expensive cab ride in a very mediocre cab. July 26, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by This Hotel is in a Great Location The Westin is centrally located in the midst of a lot of attractions, stores, and great restaurants. Overall, the service was good. However, we had a problem with our room being cleaned. July 28, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Room service This was a great stay, however I was very suprised that although I had paid the cash difference (I had a daily $20 credit for meals and drinks) on my breakfast for the last morning, the person who delivered the food did not have change so I gave them the difference and the change as a tip although the tip is included in the bill. Upon check out the cost difference was placed on the bill to my room. The rececptionist was kind enough to remove it, and it was a small amount, however the fact that your staff reported it as a charge when I paid her cash was quite unethical. June 2, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Overall good hotel At the time of booking online, there was only a room with 2 double beds available, but when I checked in they were able to put us in a single King bed room at my request. The room itself was very clean, but the hallway floor had some obvious stains and there were room services plates with left over food sitting out for awhile. The vanity mirror in the bathroom had a broken hinge and was hanging on by the electrical cord, so it was essentially unusable. There were also no trash bags in any of the trashcans.. not sure if that is apart of the Green initiative, but I think it's a little unsanitary. We ate lunch at the restaurant downstairs and came in unknowingly right before closing, but the server still sat us and did not rush us out. When it was time for her to go, she let us know she had to close out the check but we could sit as long as we would like. Good food, good service. We were able to extend our check out to 3pm, though we were hoping for 4pm due to my girlfriend participating in a conference, but no big deal, 3pm was good enough and I packed up the car while I waited for her. Overall a good hotel. The view was great. The room was clean. The restaurant was nice. Late check out was nice too. July 29, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Sprint Cell phone will not work I stayed at the hotel for 10 days. My cell phone carrier is Sprint and not only did I receive almost no service at all but my battery drained constantly to the point that a full charge could last till morning. I was told by hotel staff (who also have Sprint) that this problem has been ongoing for the past three and half years. The staff was helpful in comping my phone calls from the room at check out but it was very difficult to make both personal and business calls from my room. If you have Sprint- I would consider another hotel. December 18, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Unacceptable Loyalty is hard to come by. For me to book a king bed over two weeks in advance and then to show up at midnight after 7 hours of delayed flights and be stuff in a small room with a small double (almost twin sized) bed is unacceptable. Then I'm told they would give me $100 off the rate, which they conveniently did NOT apply to the final invoice. So much for being Platinum. So much for my loyalty. July 17, 2014
