I hesitate to write this and for Starwood's benefits I decide to write. We checked in yesterday during Chinese New Year
1. Con: when we stepped out of Taxi I did not feel like the doorman has good training to greet guest
2. Con: the front desk has long line and the lady asked us to line up surprisingly allowed other guest cut the line
3. Pro: Mark helped to process the check in and showed apology for long wait meanwhile gave us free upgrade to executive floor
4 Pro: We called to ask the iPad charger and they did not have the one from hotel. However they manage to get one for us
5 Con: when we went to executive floor during happy hour the lady named Bella came to me telling me we are not allowed to be there directly. I was expecting staff from executive floor talking gracefully. I asked her to clarify w Mark and she never came back w her apology for their own mistake
6 Con: when I shower the floor is flooding. I checked the hole and saw the hair from previous guest has filled it
7 Pro: this morning when we talked to concierge Max he is helpful w lots smiles. Even my daughter can tell
8 Con: next day after housekeeping no new shampoo and shower gel being prepared and my shave being taken away
9 Con: the locker room before swimming pool filled w water on the floor. At least some staff need to clean floor constantly
My sixth sense told me this building is not built for hotel so lots hardware does not comply w standard not much less the software
Ii feel obligated to write this for them to improve because I am loyal customer of Starwood

Rated 4 out of 5 by DCDC Excellent as usual, but with a couple of improvements needed
As I've reviewed before I'm a frequent guest of the Westin Ningbo and have received nothing but great services. The front-desk is efficient and friendly. Guest services is prompt. Room is in top shape and clean. Everyone is willing to help, Concierge is friendly. I've tried the Teppan in the Japanese Restaurant and it's delicious. However, I had one minor and two major issues with Westin this time.
Minor issue: I've ordered room service with ice cream and when the food is bought to my room the ice cream is already mostly-melted. Didn't notice it until the person left, it is not a big deal so I didn't complain to the hotel because it has always treated me nicely, but then two more major issues came up later...
Major issues: first, the limited English by the staff picking up the phone. When I'm ready to leave I called Guest Services to ask a bell boy to come up and pick-up my luggage. Someone at Guest Services picked-up, can't understand English, and simply put the phone down, and after waiting for 10-20 seconds another person finally picked up, and I told her what I needed, and she said "sorry, need to transfer you" and then I got transferred, another person picked up, asked for bell boy, and she said, "sorry, this is Lobby Lounge, need to transfer you", and then I got transferred back to Guest Service! Told the person the same request, a bell boy to come to my room to pick up my luggage, got the same "sorry, need to transfer you" back to Lobby lounge! Of course the lady at Lobby Lounge answered again, "this is Lobby Lounge, we don't do that, you need to call Guest Service", really? Fed up, I simply hung up.
Another disappointment is the Westin is starting to "smell" like your typical local 2-star Chinese hotel: people are smoking in the hotel! My room the bathroom smelled like smoke, but I didn't complain since I've been treated good and only the bathroom smelled like that, the bedroom is fine. However, the elevators, people are smoking in them and some of them really had bad cigarette odor such as elevator 4. Then, I've saw a couple of people just flat out smoking in the lobby waiting area.... unbelievable. I really hate the smell of smoke and I needed to stay at establishments that can keep a non-smoking environment, if Westin Ningbo can't do that, I need to find another establishment.
