Rated 3 out of 5 by mishap Gym on 11th floor can ruin the stay
This Westin is pretty standard for the brand. Rooms are good sized and in acceptable shape. The lounge is bland and pretty desolate. The main downside is the layout has rooms that are directly adjacent to the gym and conference rooms. Despite having ~ 200 nights/yr at SPG under my belt the hotel decided to place me directly above the gym for my first stay with them.
The very noticeable thuds of people dropping weights was noticeable into the night when I went to bed at midnight and even more noticeable when I was awakened by them at 5AM the next morning. The staff didn't really have much of a response other than to offer to move rooms. It's not like the gym suddenly appeared there. They simply thought it was acceptable to put people there until they receive complaints.
I cancelled the remainder of my stay and moved to another hotel.
Either stop letting idiots drop weights before dawn like it's some Crossfit gym nonsense or put better padding in there and isolate your gym better. Alternately, don't put frequent/loyal SPG travelers who have very coveted sleep hrs directly overhead. No rooms are ever going to be fully silent and isolated but I question management's judgement on putting me there and then offering nothing but a move to a different room when it's untenable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bill One of the best Westin hotels anywhere
I have stayed at many hotels, in many locations, but the Westin in downtown Phoenix is undoubtedly one of the best. We were originally slated to stay for only two nights, but unforeseen events extended our stay to two weeks, turning our hotel into a temporary home. The staff could not have been more gracious. Everyone we met was approachable, but William, Jeff, Aba, Oliver and, of course, Anabel, went the extra distance every day, to make us feel welcome. And the most impressive part was that they did it so effortlessly. It really seemed genuine, and that went a long way to help us through a difficult time. We left thinking of them as family.
I wish I could relate all of the extra little things that each one of these marvelous people did for my wife, daughter and me. If you go to Phoenix, stay here. Period.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Baird718 Best Westin Ever, and the Eggs Benedict...Well...
Let's start at the front door. While I am not usually one to select valet parking, It is a must in Phoenix. It is wonderful to come out to your car and it is cool and comfortable when you get in.
The relaxation starts as soon as you exit your can. The path from the valet drop off to the check in desk weaves thru a wonderful garden with soothing water feature that drips relaxation. Once inside, the desk is easy to find and staffed with attentive staff (we will come back to this). While checking in, they politely strike up a conversation with you see if their are any forgotten needs they can cater too. I was in town looking for a place to live before moving and the front desk staff gave me some pointers. This hotel has some green features in the rooms and if you have never stayed here before the staff are sure to cover these features otherwise they may frustrate you. Once I got up to my room, My jaw dropped. The Deluxe Room is massive. From the height of the ceiling to the floor space in the room, no dimension in this room was too small. The bathroom was just as generous with space as the bedroom. A large walk-in shower with a rain shower head was wonderful thing to stand under after a day of flying from Miami and house hunting. In the evening, I decided to turn in early to get an early start and if you have stayed at a Westin or Element hotel, you know how fantastic the bed is. If not, stay here and discover what you are missing
The next morning, I brewed some Starbucks coffee to give my room the wonderful wake up smell while I knocked out a little bit of work then I made my way downstairs to the restaurant for breakfast. The route to the restaurant has you pass the check-in desk. While walking by the staff were busy working, but both representatives looked up, gave me their full attention and wished me a wonderful morning. Once at the restaurant, I was greeted immediately and seated just as quickly and had a glass of apple juice and water on the table in less than ~3 minutes. I looked over the menu and spotted my breakfast weakness...Eggs Benedict. I had to try them. The hotel was great thus far, so the Eggs Benedict had to be just as good... No, they were better. Best Eggs Benedict I have ever had. The portion size was perfect and left me content and ready to face my second day of house-hunting. I made my way back to my room to pack up my belongings and on the way, the same check-in representatives asked how my breakfast was and if their was anything they could take care of for me this morning. I didn't need their assistance, but was glad to know they were there ready and willing to help me if needed.
To summarize, this property will take care of you from the moment you pull up to the door until you step foot back in your car, Whether you are a part of the SPG rewards program or not, or have a status, the staff will always be available to assist you. I have never received such excellent customer service at any hotel anywhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Cattravels Great Downtown Phoenix Stay
The Westin is a great hotel to stay in downtown Phoenix. Right on the Metro train line and walking distance to many restaurants and venues, it is perfect for experiencing the city.
The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable. Very helpful staff. Our favorite place to stay in Phoenix.

Rated 5 out of 5 by eycnsf One of the best Westins
This is one of the better Westin facilities. The rooms are very spacious, with high ceilings and a clean beautiful design. The location is relatively convenient in downtown Phoenix. I've never had to wait to check in. It always seems to have a calm vibe. The club lounge is pretty good as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JR1957 Excellent room, sleep and staff
I thoroughly enjoyed my 6 night stay at the Westin Phoenix Downtown in April 2016. The rooms were spacious and well furnished. The staff was very cheerful and helpful. The restaurant had a wide variety of choices on the menu and the waiter staff was excellent, especially Christina. My wife and I ate breakfast there each morning and were more than pleased. The beds were very comfortable. We awoke each day refreshed and ready for the day ahead. The Westin provided us each day with a newspaper and complementary bottled water, which in Phoenix is a big perk.
All together we can't say enough good things about the Westin Phoenix. Make a reservation there without worry and you'll be very pleased.

Rated 3 out of 5 by AGonzo Room Service Improvements
The hotel and room are stunning. However room was not 100% clean on arrival, bed covers had a bad smell, and room service was awful.
On arrival the first thing we noticed when I open the door were a couple of open bag of chips sitting on the counter next to the coffee. The last person in the room before us checking forgot their snacks.
My wife fell in love with the hotel, the room, the beautiful city view, and the smell of the entire hotel as we walked in. When she laid on the bed she also noticed the strong musty smell from the bed covers. She sprayed a little of her perfume on the sheets but didn’t help much. We didn’t use the pillows and only used one sheet.
On arrival we decided to open a bottle of wine that was given to us for our anniversary. We didn’t have a wine bottle opener and walked down to the lobby to request for one around 9:00 PM. The gentleman at the front desk said he was going to send one to our room. It only took me a couple of minutes to go downstairs. We waited 30 minutes and the bottle opener never arrived. I called room service and spoke to Sandra about the issues I was having getting a wine opener and she said she will send one right away. We waited another 15 minutes and wine opener never arrived. I called back and requested to speak to a manager. I was on hold for another 5 minutes before Craig answered the phone. I offered to go down stairs and pick one up. He said there was someone on the way and about a minute later the bottle opener finally arrived. It took over 45 minutes for us to get a simple wine opener. We didn’t really enjoy the wine because we were irritated and very disappointed with room service.
The hotel and room are beautiful but unfortunately we won’t be staying there anytime soon. There are better hotels in the area.
