The Japanese Restaurant, "MAI" needs tremendous improvement in the layout and the food preparation as well. In my dining experience at MAI I feel that diners should not be subjected to smokiness caused by the hot teppanyaki styled grills.
I had gone in on 8th July for a light dinner that consisted of sashimi and salad but I came out smelling like I had just came out of a burger joint. On top of that, I found a bone in my sashimi. The hostess was gracious enough to offer me a dessert in lieu of my "discovery".

We (family, with three young children) enjoyed our stay, but what truly made the experience was the exceptional service and help provided by Pedram Yazdani. He went above and beyond the call of duty on a daily basis to make our holiday a memorable experience.

Great SPG Plat recognition (suite upgrade + free bfast). Good facilities, although location is in far reaches of Haitong beach without nothing nearby - limited food options. Recommend that they partner with the other SPG hotels in the area for the shuttle service to the city. Otherwise, excellent peaceful and relaxing stay.

facing South China Sea directly, and with pretty sea view, broad and blue, which is marvelous for relaxation.

Haitang Bay for 4 nights in a suite with family of 4. Amazing swimming facilities and the staff were all courteous, but not proactive.
It took us many attempts to order a vanilla milkshake - which in the end came as a Mango flavour.
The infrastructure is fantastic but while the welcome is warm the staff did not quite understand the needs of a family e.g. water by the poolside.
The GM made up for the shortcomings - but of course it isn't fair that senior staff should attend to basic requirements such as a milkshake.
Breakfast buffet was excellent with some of the best pastries and coffee I have tasted.
As always the Westin beds and linen are luxurious and when I get home, it is one of the parts of the Westin experience I miss most; never of course bringing any of these home.
