Rated 5 out of 5 by Better than being at my home My extended stay at Westin began at the front desk, where every accommodation was given. Valet, and the bellmen were always helpful. Housekeeping remembered all special requests; even leaving personable notes on my pillow. The hosts, bartenders, wait staff and chefs were always willing to to make special provisions, and eager to suggest their own specialty! Regrettably, I had to leave, but only after making "the rounds " to thank the Westin staff for such attention to detail, and friendship. Lance October 6, 2016

Rated 1 out of 5 by Disappointing Service For a hotel like Westin, the service was completely disappointing. We arrived around 4 pm, and the room wasn't ready. They sat us in the lobby for an hour and a half waiting for our room. That made us late for a ticketed event we had (for which we paid a LOT of money). When we arrived back from the event, we were denied room service because they were "too busy," and the restaurant in the hotel was also so busy they wouldn't take "to go" orders. So we missed dinner that night. The room was, however, clean and comfortable. The service from the staff was non-existent to horrible. They were obviously way understaffed, which is completely inexcusable for a hotel in a major city with major events happening on that weekend. I will find another place to stay when I return to Birmingham. July 20, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Birthday Surprise Gone Bad I booked a room at the Westin as part of a birthday surprise for my boyfriend...I was taking him to a boxing match at the BJCC. The event was starting at 4:00 pm and we were running a little behind. We arrived at the hotel around 4:00 pm, an hour after their set check-in time, and were told that our room was not clean yet. They said they were entering our name into a "dialog box" and they would call us when it was ready. I informed them that we had tickets to the boxing match and they just said they were sorry and that they had been busy. We were told that it could be 30-45 minutes but no promises. By the time we got settled into our room it was nearly 5:00 pm. We then noticed that the sink was leaking, the shower had mold and that the upholstery on one of the chairs was torn. Never thought I would see that sort of thing in such a "luxurious" place. With no time to address the issues or even take in our lovely parking garage view, we quickly freshened up and got to the boxing match...2 hours late. Honestly, that is the last time that I pay Westin prices. The experience was not worth it on any level whatsoever, I will stay further away and take a cab next time. This was supposed to be part of a fantastic weekend away with my boyfriend and our stay was simply an annoyance. Although, we have had great fun working "Dialog Box" into our conversation this weekend. Do better, guys. July 18, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Didn't live up to Westin expectations I specifically booked a Westin because I wanted a more luxury experience, something really relaxing. I was very disappointed that the spa was closed during my stay and there was no bathtub in the room, making it difficult to get a truly relaxing experience. The pillows were amazing as always, mattress was okay. Their website said the traditional king rooms overlooked downtown but I got a view of a field and some parking lots. Pool was pretty tiny, hoped to do some laps while I was there but much too small for that. The hotel was within walking distance of a lot of the things I wanted to see, but not sure it was really worth it - wish I would have booked something cheaper and saved the money. Valet parking was very friendly, self-park was pretty expensive so I did valet. All in all not a great Westin experience. July 12, 2016

Rated 5 out of 5 by The Best Staff The Westin in Birmingham might not be the nicest Westin or SPG property I have ever stayed at, but the staff at this hotel set it apart from all other Starwood properties. I travel quite a bit for work, often staying in Starwood hotels, and I would have to say that the staff at this hotel are the best! This includes everyone from the front desk, concierge, room service, and restaurant staff. They are professional, friendly, and many of the staff members address me by name when they see me (even when I haven't been at the hotel in a few months). The property is great for business travelers because it is close to the interstate and airport, and it has several restaurant options within steps of the hotel entrance. Also, the best restaurants in Birmingham are just a short drive away if you are looking for something a little nicer and original/non-chain food. May 31, 2016
